This is a year later but perhaps, Danne, you will see this. BTW you have a good voice for speaking on camera. I have found your book reviews super helpful. You have a point of view and you show the book and quite a few pages. So helpful! I do not find hauls/flogging useful. I like seeing what you are creating, you have something interesting to show and interesting things to say. Are you able to show how you create a journal spread? I would love to see that. It doesn’t have to be a fantastic trip or something, a spread about a trip to the grocery store would be so good to see. Well done and keep going!

Danne, your detailed analysis of each book is truly commendable. Among them, my personal favourite was "In Foreign Lands, Trees Speak Arabic" by Usama al-Shamani. Its poignant portrayal of the Iraqi refugee experience in Switzerland offered a unique and thought-provoking perspective, enriching my understanding of both the characters and the setting. For your next literary adventure in a similar vein, I'd suggest exploring "The Displaced: Refugee Writers on Refugee Lives," edited by Viet Thanh Nguyen. This anthology features a collection of essays by refugee writers sharing their stories of displacement, resilience, and identity. It beautifully complements the themes of migration and cultural adaptation found in the books you've discussed, offering a rich and diverse tapestry of narratives to delve into.

These are really good questions and perhaps I will cover them in another video. I don't journal every day; there are times when I journal all the time and other times when I don't touch it for a few weeks. To record your dreams it's important to write them down soon after waking up, but otherwise I would say evenings are best for regularity. There is no set rule and flexibility has helped my practice evolve over time, so experimentation is key ;-)

This was so great! Excited to see more reading videos from you. Vlogs or reviews. I love reading, and I always have several on the go at once. I recently joined an online book club and that's fun too, to add a social component. Also I appreciated your reflection on how you started- I was indeed one of the lucky early readers but my eldest son has struggled enormously to gain his ability to read - though of my three he loves books the most! I think it's important to normalize that narrative... That it's worthwhile to keep going and that there needs to be more resources for others. One of the biggest influences on my son's reading was this peer support his school put together - a student from the grade above spent time reading with him and this really engaged and encouraged him. Anyways! Wishing you many wonderful books ahead ✨

What a thoughtful and reflective video! Your discourse on your reading journey resonates deeply with me, particularly your candid reflection on how life circumstances and mental well-being can impact our reading habits. I, too, find solace and joy in books. However, like you, I occasionally find myself ensnared by other distractions. I decided to quit social networking sites when the virus struck, as the volume of comments became daunting rather than encouraging, leaving TH-cam as the sole platform I find entertaining. Your strategies for prioritising reading once more are truly inspiring. The concept of setting intentions rather than rigid goals feels far more attainable and enjoyable. Moreover, your practical tips, from utilising audiobooks via your local library to curating a conducive reading environment, are both pragmatic and motivating. Your mention of acquiring a reading lamp particularly piqued my interest. It's remarkable how sometimes the most modest changes, like upgrading to a superior reading lamp, can significantly enhance our reading experience. Your vivid description of how it aids your focus and immersion in a book is compelling. It's something I hadn't considered previously, but now I'm contemplating acquiring one myself. I would absolutely relish the opportunity to see more reading vlogs from you! Your diverse reading tastes across various genres render your insights valuable and engaging. Furthermore, akin to you, I believe in the potency of sharing our reading journeys and strategies with others, fostering a sense of community and inspiration. Thank you for graciously sharing your thoughts and experiences with us. Your video has spurred me to reassess my own reading habits and to reintegrate reading as a more intentional aspect of my life. I'm obsessed with the cover of your Hobonichi planner, it's really beautiful! 😍 I've been debating if switching to Hobonichi this year for the past 2 months, but then I ended up buying a Leuchtturm because it fits my planning strategy better ☺ But it's so satisfying to see your unboxing! Greetings from a fellow journaler and stationery lover 😄🖌

Thank you for the video, Danne!❤ Yes, it would be great to hear more about your journalling process! I will also use Hobonichi Weeks and a Hobonichi techo for the coming year. I chose the original one, A6. I am also obsessed with notebooks. It is interesting to know your opinion about Yamamoto paper notebooks after you will have tried them. 😊 I have one in my collection as well, but it is still empty, waiting for the right time 😅

I'm so glad you liked it, Tatjana! I will start preparing that journaling video. Yamamoto notebooks are just so nice that it's a little intimidating to start, but I'm sure we'll find projects that fit. It's best not to be too precious about it. I hope you enjoy your Hobonichi planners ^_^

I have shared your channel with other Artist friends. Being semi retired Jazz musician and composer, I know all about rejection 😊 but what is of the only importance is making a connection with empathetic hearts and souls! We old timers say, “Keep swinging, baby, just keep swinging! ”

I was looking for some of Dr. Maisel's creativity coaching books (I'm taking a course with him right now) and pointing us to Routledge Publishing aided my quest greatly! Welcome, Vicky! Thank you for the feedback. I will try to make another video on poetry journals soon & I think it would be exciting to go to the Poetry Library in London for that ^_^ The first Spanish-speaking author that comes to my mind is Gloria Anzaldúa! You might like my interview with poet Leo Boix, who writes in Spanish as well as English and is also a translator: th-cam.com/video/-9QYHjl0tUE/w-d-xo.html I'm interested in instances of bilingualism that blur the lines between languages and erode borders.
