What about whip antennas? Those collapsible antenna look kinda flimsy...
Tell me a little about this antenna. Have you tested it on 40 meters ? 20 meters ? Can you show the bottom and how it mounts ?? What kind of mounting hardware is included or what will I need ? I see this antenna on eBay and I'm ready to buy it. But the seller has not replied to my questions. I just need a little bit more information about this antenna
I bought one. It has a UHF type mount (PL259/SO239). I wanted to use it mobile but I'm not to sanguine about the telescopic whip upper elements - I'd be worried about them kinking under wind load.
@@TubeRadiosRule I bought one of those antennas over a year ago and it's holding up fine. I am currently using it with the telescopic whip that came with it and have not had a problem on the road or on the highway or the interstate. But for a while I had a different whip on there I had to make an adapter so I could use a different whip on there. But I went back to the telescopic whip so it's easier to collapse it rather than take it off to get under my carport or under my bank's drive-through
@@TubeRadiosRule the first one worked so well that I bought a second one. No problem with the telescopic whip on either one To use my other whips on it I did have to make my own adapter. Luckily I work part-time at a machine shop . The thread on the antenna is not metric and it is not SAE. It is an old UK thread that was originally used on motorcycles back in the 50s. You cannot get a tap or a die to cut that thread either
What tap do I need? 3/8-16.... 3/8-20??????@@raysult
Have you compared this antenna to other screwdriver antennas ? Such as the Diamond brand ? I am very close to buying one of these Harvest antennas on eBay. I just can not find ANY information on it anywhere.
