I must admit, I quite like the new Interchange at South Shields. One thing though, with the old station you could see the metro arriving at the station while you were looking at the shops on King Street, then head to the station with no need to wait for the train.

Great video I was at Heworth a few days ago and took the Northern Rail train to Newcastle. I have a Nexus Gold Card, so don't need to pay, but was surprised ti see no ticket machine on the platform .. maybe i just couldn't see it. Regards from Whitley Bay

Ok I'm old enough to remember when this service was run by DMUs and have seen some changes since the seventies. I can remember when there were houses backing on to the line at 1.00 and at 1.48 a line branched off to a goods yard that lingered on until about 1979.
