Well to be fair, the three monster ones didn't really get their strength from eating, they just eat to survive and for those three at least they live in a rpg type world where killing things gives xp, so killing to eat makes you stronger (or in slime boys case he just ate some materials that are useful but didn't actually give him his strength)

For decades , people have been arguing over the wierdness and craziness of Anime ,just that Anime doesn't argued back or justified its ''concepts and logics'', all it does it's to march foward.

There's an obsession with OP (over powered characters likely made popular by Dragon Ball [Z]) that has blew up the industry since Shounen Jump mangas and animes. Unfortunately, the trope (OP) has been so overdone it has essentially become convoluted and boring. So much so that writers have embraced the repetitive monotony of OP characters being boring and made casual OP, dull OP, and easily OP popular tropes that is quickly being normalized. Forget the fact that Saiyans, Ninjas, Assassins, Ghost Hunters, and Soul Reapers had to go through rigorous, intricate, complex, and perplexing training to get their OP status, or that Vampires, Pokemon Trainers/Digimon Tamers, Aliens, Gundam Pilots, Post Apocolyptic/Steampunk heroines, had to go through so psychological mess, or huge overcome huge sacrifices to get where they were. Instant OP is more favorable to bums and saves time for people who wish for instant gratification (in their own lives) rather than having to work for something. Why else would Magical Girls be so popular other than them being so fluffy and Moe. They are instant. You don't even have to add water. So if a Shounen character could become instantly strong by just eating something, that is the Shounen equivalent to the instant Magical Girl. Luffy eats a forbidden fruit and he's blessedly cursed. Izuku eats a hair and he's now the holder of the strongest quirk. A weak goblin eats . . . something, and is instantly OP. They are Magical Boys. Heck, even the One Punch Man had to put in a lot of effort to essentially be able to defeat people with one punch.
