I don't care what anyone says, the coding and displays are wrong in this game. I just had fight, not ambushed. It said there were 8 enemies in this group on the map. Fight loads, there are 17 enemies... Okay, game is busted, but let me hit retreat, trying not to save scum. 2 out of my 15 guys retreat directly towards the enemy and get killed. The game is a joke.
This is why I rage quit the game. The biggest problem is the game gets the player surrounded and they can't even flee or even change gear when reloading. Even Xcom is more forgiving then this.
I got Ambushed by them once, now I know if you are unsure of an outcome fleeing is always an option specially against these sleepy fuckers RIP Ollaf Skull splitter, 13 battles 22 kills, mangled by (r*ped while sleeping) you will be missed
I watched this video before my first Alp encounter so I was terrified when I fought them. I had the militia start so I handily outnumbered them and my veterans just tore them up with polearms. Rally also automatically wakes people in the area.
My first encounter with this was against 12. Had 2 polearms but 10 archer bros. Formed square and shot like crazy but nightime accuracy not good. Each bro shot like 15 arrows each but we made it through the night.
The trick is to remember theyll always be within 2 tiles of your bros, and that since its night ranged weapons wont really hit. Giving everybody pitchforks or pikes is the way to go, unless you can pull off getting close with a high dmg 2h like Zwei. Stay bunched up in one big group or in 2-3 smaller groups and rotate after you hit with your long reach weapon so everybody can get a stab off.
This fight only can be won with gayest brother with spear, no armor no shield just spear and go as team of 3 or 4 of each persue while splitting your army
My guy struggling with alps will have nightmares with necrosavants. Those fuckers infuriated me so much. Good thing that the solution for both problems is the same: Bloody nets. Net 'em and chop 'em up.
Best weapon against Alps are those big twohanded cleavers from the South. Use Decapitate on them. Also they are weak to bleeding and despite them all teleporting around will still bleed to death.
As soon as i encountered alps i knew how to deal with then, i noticed theyd always teleport 2 tiles away from your bros, so id just equiped everyone with polearms, doesnt matter what they are build wise because blocking doesnt do shit, and ranged is just kinda useless in this fight till they run If you do this, you wont have to move very much and you can end up grouping in a round circle formation so they then only teleport in the middle of the circle Ive only done the formation once so i couldnt tell ya how but its possible
Reach weapons like polearms, pikes, warforks, and a brother or two with rally the troops does help a lot when going to battle with enemies with resolve based mechanics. Having high resolve on your brothers is mandatory when fighting foes like Geists, Hexen, and Alps. Alps can put your brothers to sleep, Geists will make your brothers panic and flee, and Hexen will mind control your brothers to kill your own squad. High resolve does drop the chances of being affected by these enemies, but it doesn't grant immunity. Also bring nets when fighting Alps to keep them in place and so they don't teleport.
Alps is usually just like a fun festival, everybody is naked and close together playing tag with other even more pale and naked 'guys'. Armour will only slow you down and shield are just a hindrance Although I've heard that it's not necessary to undress anymore while fighting them, I wonder what changed
Rally the troops wakes everyone up in it's range. contrary to expectation, handgonnes don't do the same... Whips and warscythes are great. Always have at least 3 brothers in a clump, so they can wake each other up if needed. Alps target the bros on the edges, so you can retire a bro inside your blob formation relatively safely if they get too damaged. Have colossus on everyone. Figthing alps very early on - bring dogs and nets (or just don't).
Got fked by djinni in the box event while carrying a package. Had to fight 20 ancient aciliaries and 2 necrosavants with early game peasant militia. No surprise that I got fked.
Alps are easy to deal with as long as you have a bannerman with a sergeant perk (basically they can’t put you asleep), dogs make the fight almost trivial. The real pains in the ass in BB are necrosavants, orcs warboss and southern armies.
@@jojomama3028 I'm 387 hours in and can finally say that i've beaten everything in the game. The learning curve is steep but rewarding. I just started a campaign with some mods, the modding community is very nice on Nexus
@@Veldazandtea Yes, and you have 12-16 characters plus dogs, as well as "rally the troops" that wakes everyone up in a 6tile radius. Alps are the easiest fight in the game.
Net one and get away from it... Then net another, until all are netted they don't break out, then hit one in a net. Every time they are hit 2 things happen. They randomly swap location with another alp (they can roll on themselves and stay still) then move to a tile within 2 tiles of their new location (unless their new location is in a net) the one you hit then takes the damage (if killed the net breaks at their new location) Other things to remember, their sleep and nightmare attacks have a range of 2 and nightmare ignores armour..... So fight them naked or in lighter armour cus they can spawn with dire wolves.
Battle bro really thought armor would protect him against terrors beyond human comprehension.
alps really arent that bad, keep your team close, dont use ranged weapons, be aggresive and you'll be fine.
Archers are such shit in this game.

Alps are the easiest fight in the game. Just don't let them have a turn when you're asleep.
Since March 2022 or so an Alp can put you to sleep and damage on the same turn.
They can make two people sleep. Just one can do that. When three are around your groups...
