I just did this my self and it works 8 hours changed the water 4 times and soak for a week out side but you need a really high heat so if you can big pot with a lid

I soaked it in a bucket of water before and after boiling it for about a day each. I still had tannins coming out but not as much. You can see in my other video how the tank looks. With fresh carbon you can remove some of the color from the water.

How long did it take for you to get rid of the tannins(the thing that makes your water yellow)...so far i've been having mine for 3days
