i had a blood test the EGFR was 44 bun/creatinine ratio was 15, creatinine was 1.29 is this really bad
@2:45 my father (82yrs ckd4/5) kidneys perform well during night hours but day time output after 9am measured 10-15 ml per hour n after 6 pm it was increased to 40 n 8pm 60ml .... it is recorded during he was vth urine bag a year ago. Now his creatinine btwn 5-6. Why day time perfprmance was bad since a decade i can assume.
EGFR is calculated imo but can we take urine output measurement for 24 hrs n divide it into per min vch actually observable.
This was the most detailed, informative explanation of eGFR, creatine and CKD numbers and what they mean that I have come across. I learned more in this one presentation than a dozen others I have watched. I now feel I have a much better understanding of what is occurring in my renal system. Thank you so much.
I had the honor of meeting this doctor a few months ago when I came in to see my intern nephrologist at UCLA. I was scared at that time since my eGFR was getting worse and all lab results are going south. He re-assured me that I am far away from getting a dialysis. That we will work together to make my lab results better. He even made a joke that my eGFR was better than his. I felt better after that visit, that made a whole lot of difference.
The second example is tough , diarrhea and NG normalizes the PH But if there is disturbance will give anion acidosis and a hidden metabolic alkalosis
I dialysis patients
Im in ESRD.. and I would love to give this my all
I like this video very much, it makes me understand my kidney. thanks.
Thank you , I really enjoyed your explanation
You said it should be ready in 2 years. Well that was 2 years ago! When will this actually be available to patients?! When it’s already too late and we’re all dead?! That’s going to do a lot of good! Get this up, running and passed by the fda asap, please! Thank you for your work, though. We are waiting and hoping this becomes reality soon!
Hi Can you please tell the success rate of this device and how it works
Thank you for your work Dr Kurtz.
Time kya hai aane ka
I have one kidney because I had kidney cancer I am 71 what should my egfr and creatine be
Sea change is goog
Hello, i am a 6’ 193lb 78yo male with a GFR 47 and a creatinine 1.51. I went from a GFR 54 to 47 within one year. My urinalysis and bloodwork is normal, no diabetes or heart issues. My primary doctor doesn’t seem concerned and has not recommended anything to slow it down. Do I need to be on a special diet? Thank You
For your age doctor might be ignored as that elevation is normal n stats limits doesn't fit to all.
Thank you for great lecture.
Thanks for the lecture
Years I spent in vainity and pride caring not_ _ _ _. Im now 71 and my diabetes has caught up with me. If only I had spent the time to watch/read good info and adjust my diet. Its never too late. Im going to share this with others. Thanks Dr Ira for the good graphics and explanation. Kia Ora from the South Pacific
Hi Dr., I’m John Sheehan on Cape Cod and I have him dialysis and I would like to not have hemodialysis but I guess right now I have to.
Dr. Kurtz - two years ago you created an approximately 13 minute overview of your artificial mechanical kidney prototype. In it, I believe you stated that the prototype would be ready for clinical trials in two years (that would be about now). Can you tell us what the status of the project is and perhaps what the near future holds? Thanks
Brilliant as always. Thank you Dr. Kurtz . The way you explain would give confidence to anyone anxious about their respective CKDs and PKDs. I always look forward to watching you as it helps me a lot. I am 70 with an eGFR 44 and S Cr. 1.63. It used to be 1.3 not so long ago. Thanks again.
Hurry.
It is probably the most relevant and correct interpretation and explanation of CKD I have ever heard. I can't thank you enough. Best Regards and Compliments from India.
THANKS SO MUCH DOC.
Amazing!
I need B+ donor in Washington DC
I am on dialysis from three years 🙃🤗
Mr. Kurtz God bless you please keep going with your project help us to get out dialysis
Sir very beautiful presentation Sir can i get the slides of this presentation Thanku sir
Absolutely BRILLIANT help ! I am a stage 4…ancient (72) lol that I describe myself that way. Egfr varies from 9 in crisis to 24 - 17 these days…creatinine is 177. Trying hard to sort things. I did months of only organic, raw and water…NO meat. Complicated by brittle diabetes, severe Crohn’s, multiple organ fail, gastro paresis, Barrets esophagus…etc, etc. I quit HUGE doses of insulin, I went to eating only once a day…whatever…but favouring organic raw. I drink only water. Any ideas I might try sir ? Cannot thank you enough for sharing your important information ! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thank you so much for this Dr Kurtz! You are indeed a true blessing!
Great lecture! This information would’ve been useful to me about a decade ago (that’s when I was appointed a nephrologist in the ospital). My doctor never told me anything and I didn’t know what to ask. She would just go over the lab values every quarterly office visit. Now, I’m on dialysis for the rest of my life (I’m 52)-I never wanted this to begin with. THERE IS NO QUALITY OF LIFE!!😕
GREAT EXPLANATION OF EACH THIBG. THANK YOU
Great video, thank you.
Can we start a prevantive dialysis one time per week or 2 weeks or a month and not wait until the kidneys no work and need dialysis 3 times a week ?? Any information ?
Polution, chemicals, foods with chemicals, and so on,,, destroy us. Then, the business health makes money.
Could you direct us to a website where we can obtain reliable nutritional content specially for phosphorus and potassium. This will help me in preparing meals for my husband who has been diagnosed with CKD - stage 3
Good news
I have been diagnosed with atypical anti-glomerular basement membrane disease. Is this something you have heard of? My egfr is 29 and creatinine is 2.3 I am 68 years old and have had several kidney biopsies and I think the Doctors are a bit puzzled. If you have a comment or need some additional information please let me know.Thank you.
No diabetes
When I had pneumonia last month, they found bacteria in my urine
