Purple Noise FX MKII Tone Bender Mullard OC84
Here's a demo of the Purple Noise FX MKII Tone Bender I just finished.
This is a faithful recreation of an original MKII Tone Bender using extremely accurate parts, including:
- Mullard Great Britain OC84 germanium transistors
- Iskra / Piher resistors
- WIMA filter capacitor
- Iskra polystyrene capacitors
- Iskra "kidney bean" capacitor
- Philips electrolytic capacitors
- Cliff jacks
- Carling switch
- Alpha potentiometers

Gibson Les Paul '58 reissue /
MKII fuzz /
'71 Marshall JMP 50W Bass /
Fryette PS-2A (reactive load only) /
UAD Ox Stomp (4x12" w/ Greenbacks)

They sound pretty much the same. Heres the odd thing about the transistors Ivor Arbiter chose to use. He most likely chose them out of the few suitable for a fuzz by the price. I have a FF just like yours with NKT278s. It sounds just like a Hendrix recording. Cleans up just as well. Very cool comparison
