For non English people, if only subjects were taught and encouraged in their local language… world would have seen a lot more talented people. Though, physics and computers are my favorates .., I can go only to that level with native English, but if it were my mother tongue I can take it to the next level.

Its better to have a specific plan, goals, and efficiency than to just blindly put in 10,000 hours. It comes easier to some than others but talent is something that is nurtured.

The miracle is in being interested in the first place, in having that fire within. Feynman lacks spirituality and considers himself as the perfect example of his theory. Fallacy. I can hear Ramanujan snickering somewhere. In the fictional words of Will Hunting, some people can just play.

I love him, but there are miracle people ^^ Some people study only 1/100 of your time and are 10x smarter. But you can become 10x as smart as an ordinary human by hard work, but just imagine how smart the gifted people are, they hit different. Greeting to Robert from my time at University physics, i was a worker, he was a genious, but couldnt explain shit, just loved him.

  • @stupid4President

Nope. I learned the hard way that 'work hard and anything is possible' is a myth. Your brain has a fixed capacity and becomes also less elastic through time. Yes you can do a lot but no you can't do everything. Also, IMHO, Feynman's point is 'interest' and not 'working hard'.

Scar tissue is not always stronger, and we don't use just 5% of our brain because most people are inherently too lazy to work....and finally...hard work is not enough!

Also, often overlooked, one needs living arrangements conducive to learning in, for example, prison is not a very good place for learning despite how the public tries to always find something to envy about people in bad conditions. Projects or mobile homes are not great places to learn in, if they were-we would have an equal number of scientists and geniuses coming from them, we do not. Hardwork is not enough, you'll need other givens. People are not self-made, most successful people were put in conditions that allowed them choices with better options available than for many. To have enough wealth to have spare time to put into the studies as a student or Wanna-Be are crucial. So, it still isn't like everyone will have time to do this. My bet is if Elon Musk or Bill Gates grew up poor &/or fatherless, they both might have ended up doing time in a jail!

I used to study in a reasonable way back in school now having entered university I have lost the passion that made me love mathemtics in the first place and pretty much rely on my iq to lear things increadably fast and wright well on exams but I am kind of deepressed like I have lost the purpose the goal I had before going to university (I consider my self a natural problem solver all I ever wanted to do was solve and solve roblems my main goal-motivation is to be able to solve every problem that I encountered but this motivation is long gone because I realized that math is infinite and theory makes up for 80% of math something that I don t particularly enjoy learning)

This is such bullshit. A monkey can do what a monkey does. It can't be a human. They tried. Gorilla's have a maximum ceiling in intelligence. They'll never be equal to humans. Some musicians try a lifetime, but they don't have the natural born talent that some 15 year old that goes viral does. These folks are not Psychologists. Go study the science. Scientists talking about things not in their field are nothing but amateurs.

Easy to miss in this rush of sound bites is that it is essential to CARE (be interested, want to get it) in the first place. Giving a shit in the first place is necessary and in some cases sufficient.
