I relate a lot with the music video as an adult now. Pr0n addiction is so prevalent, it truly does affect relationships in ways you never expected.

This song & mv was absolutely ahead of it’s time dude it’s crazy, it masqueraded as a typical degenerate ecchi anime thing, while in reality it was a critique on that culture & how women are viewed in Japan (especially its media) & how it’s even destroying the lives of men. Literally telling the story of a young man who realizes he’s too far gone & needs to escape his addiction, start seeing women as human beings again, including his normal loving girlfriend he had in the real world but had abandoned due to his hentai addiction & twisted view of women because of it His fantasy turning into a living nightmare where those ecchi anime girls turn into grotesque sadistic monsters, twisted versions of themselves & how he viewed them, trying to literally *rip him apart & eat him alive* , which they ultimately do so despite his best efforts to escape & come back to the real world as a better new man. It’s even better than how I’m very quickly describing it. There’s lots of little details that make it even more chilling. I wish I could comment this on the actual music video but it’s removed from TH-cam now

The amount of people who completely miss the point of this video is sad. TLDR: Real relationships can be complicated and difficult, but they are always more valuable than the fake relationships given to you by pop culture. Those aren't real and only exist to take your money.

What happened to this and ME!ME!ME! that they both got taken down? Such revolutionary songs, almost gone from existence... It's such a shame.

This song and the MV was one of my comfort songs back in 2016 when I fell into a pretty heavy depression. This week is my 22th birthday and for some reason I suddenly remembered this, how nostalgic. Life does get better! :)

Ironically, I discovered this animation in middle school, just around the time I developed a porn addiction. I knew about ME!ME!ME! from a TH-camrs React video that featured Markiplier. Despite my struggles starting to take form, I still took it as hentai; exactly what the message is against. Fast forward to today, I continue to fight my porn addiction, and I think that ME!ME!ME! was so far ahead of its time. Porn addictions, from what I've seen, are not discussed enough or taken seriously, but this animation summed it up perfectly. The dopamine abuse, the pure female adulation, the post-nut clarity, the female beauty standard being the main villain, the attempts to overcome addiction, a relationship getting ruined. Literally flawless, and everything that happens in real life. There are SO many people out there going through the same thing as Syu. Truly one of the greatest, most important anime films of the past 50 years, in my opinion.
