My dialup when i try using call centric number instead of local number
Isn't this 22kbs syndrome?
Not Sure...
Cool
Hm, question, i have Linksys WRT54G-TM from TMobile and WRT54G3G routers, is this device capable of "faking" phoneline? Or is it only switch? You had been testing one of simmilar devices WAG200 or so. You have been testing lot of stuff, got me interested year ago, keep in my memory, options to recreate, analog phone line in home. You have real phone line, so probably you didnt explore such options. Is it possible to make it using for example old analog switch boxes. These boexes often used by small businesses to create internal numbers and communicate internally. Is it possible using this and and bunch of modems create dialup network? LAN of dialups? Or is it only possible with physicall landline connected to it? Would be very interesting to see modern options out there. I had dream of old computers being connected to internet via LPT, COM, ISA whatever WIFI using ESP microcontroler and it has been made by many people its available as commercial product. I have never step upon dialup bridge with actuall high voltage supply and stuff. Had you? My current dream to have analog telephone connected to bluetooth-phone bridge capable to answer my phones via that thing. I was using just as SAMTIME a Blacberries as long it was possible. If not job - technician would never use Android im just annoyed by notifications and somehow always miss the phone, miss sms, cant see email on time. Having such device in home, would be so cool. Connected to phone (wherever its put) and being able to ring and im being able to answer my phone woudl be so cool. Not just for me but potentially by elderly people like my mom. I dont know. There are modern recreations of such device. Are there interfaces? Allow any device of any age to be connected to internet via bluetooth audio bridge?. I dont experience in dialup, have never had - my first internet was PCMCIA modem EDGE in 2006. Video about WAG200 or whatever name was of this VoIP modem had lot of views.. would be so cool if you could explore options for people who cant have landline but are interested in connecting their devices via analog modem. Thanks.
I officially award you, today, October 9th, in the Two Thousand Twenty Fourth Year of Our Lord, Nerd of the Day. Corn-gratulations!
do you use dial up for fun
@@dannymcgrath4640 yeah but mainly when I stream lately. It’s more fun when others are watching
You’re a very handsome fella. I appreciate the videos a lot ❤
this was a lot of fun to watch! i hope to be able to watch the next one as well. i sent you a picture of what i was watching this on because i thought you might like to see it oh and you might want to look at it on your high speed internet because the image file is over a megabyte. have a good rest of the evening!
yes! im so glad you got your copper back! im actually having a lineman come out tomorrow to reinstall my old copper to hopefully take care of the noise. it used to only get noisy when it rained, but now it just stays noisy all the time, and we cant have that.
@@アレン-f2x thanks yes the day after this stream my phone ☎️ got noisy again so have to get them to come out again and repair and the workers are on strike lol. I just saw them striking on the street today
yeah unfortunately nobody showed up the other day so i had to call back and reschedule. they told me they are trying to get linemen from other states to come in since the workrs here are still on strike. by the way, how much does it usually cost for them to come fix the noise? because i dont want to have to keep on having them come out every single time it gets noisy,, i just want them to completely replace the copper line from my house to the cross connect. just replacing sections is no good because the noise always coms back in a different spot
@@アレン-f2x they are supposed to just fix it. I don’t know if they will actually replace anything though
I could not finish the video that music is to annoying and loud. I tried.
@@QuantumParadox oh yeah never using that track again it is really annoying
how were you able to find all these older websites?
Wiby.me or try theoldnet.com
wow, that is awesome! thanks!
That company still exists?
Yes you can even call them and they will talk to you
@@dialupchronicles i just ordered a CD-ROM from them...LOL
That is so damn cool!!!
hi,you have a voip or a Analog line,thanks
@@retrogamer-d8b analog but recently (last six months) switched to VoIP. Analog is so expensive but timeless

My parents had Juno until about 2017 it wasnt until then they could get better Internet at their place lol. It was awful nice throwback though not much on the website has really changed as far as layout. I remember we did get the accelerated but it really didnt seem that much faster
What guide did you use?
I’ll have to do a video on it but it’s not too hard. discord.gg/uH8HFUeESZ
@@dialupchronicles thanks
kmeleon is better
Have you ever used Netscape? if yes you are old
Yes and yes 👍
Here in Brazil a guy called Jorge have creat a open dial up with Voip
love your vids but please stop adding music it makes it very hard to watch
I used to make videos without music, but it always felt so empty, like something was missing. Hmmm well I will keep that in mind, perhaps make the music softer. Thanks for the feedback.
man, i cant stop watching these videos now! theyre great! i appreciate you encouraging people to get a home phone and telling peiple to not cancel their home phone service. i beleive EVERYONE should have a home phone! they are fantastic! (and yes, im old...LOL)
Haha thanks!
i hope you got this issue fixed so you can get at least up to 48k. my at&t phone line is poorly maintained, so my speed is weird too with weird speeds like 31k just like yours. i also cannot believe how pricy my landline has become...its like $70 a month! and i dont even have long distance or caller id, just the traditional telephone line.
Yeah I just recently got rid of my home phone because of the price and now have a VoIP phone line. That’s cool you have a landline! I hope to get mine back at some point when finances are better
hey, do you know of any dialup isp's that offer unlimited dialup access?
No, the best way to do that would be to go the VoIP route and dial into yourself using an old computer as a server
First Browser I used on the Internet was VMS Mosaic on a DEC VaxStation 4000 VLC in around 1995. The monitor was a black and white monitor and I assumed the whole internet was in black in white. Imagine my surprise when about 6 months later I went into an internet cafe and discovered it was actually in colour.
Wow very cool 😎
I am delighted to have unlimited international calls and to be able to have dial-up internet using Juno dial-up numbers in France 😊
Nice!
Any idea if this browser could run neocities
It should be able to, still working on that
@@dialupchronicles not for me weird
Are dial-up connections still available in the US? There hasn't been a narrowband connection in Germany for years. The analogue and digital ISDN telephone network is being dismantled and replaced by DSL. All landline telephone operations run via voice over IP.
Yes there are still true dial up connections available albeit it can be hard to obtain a true landline phone
@@dialupchronicles If coper will replaced with fibre cables, there is practically no length limitations for single connection lines. But it is expensive to lay one single line from the next distribution box to farm in the middle of nowhere.
@@thorstenjaspert9394 right and that’s the issue and why the copper infrastructure should be preserved
Hi I am watching the replay now
Thanks Technology Guy!

Dammit, i missed this again, glad the vod exists. i love this channel. I remember using dial-up when i was like 3-4 in 2005 on a Windows 98 computer setup my dad bought in '99. Loved playing Hoyle typing games and browsing really primitive websites from really early search engines. Soon after we got broadband. Cam't believe I remember any of this after 17 years
That is really amazing you remember that, which means your brain thought the memory was important enough to create a very good save file of that experience. Really cool
When I was listening to the background music it reminded me of Donkey Kong 64
*PromoSM* 😝
I’ve done it over google voice. Just switch manually to 300 baud and bbss work!
Oh wow cool!
0:17 I used to have a dell crt like that
Nice
Cool vid I watched that long time ago
Thanks!

A long long time ago I was toying with the idea of making a 9 V battery cable adapter for the cordless phone base to power it when the power went out. 20 years later somebody gives me these old ancient 900 MHz cordless phones in the base station takes the same battery as the handset so it functions even when the power is off! I don't know why more companies don't do this. I wouldn't mind a modern V-TECH phone with rechargeable AAA compartment on the bottom. Although I just plain wouldn't mind a high-quality cordless phone with decent Audio. I've been using a X-link Bluetooth Gateway and it's amazing the audio quality with a good old fashion western electric!
I would love POTS service but it's expensive! It's almost like I'm paying to maintain the infrastructure that they're not maintaining.
Yeah I finally got rid of mine for that very reason
@@dialupchronicles 🥲 We had service with frontier in a semi-not semi remote area by a river. we just barely got the DSL that didn't work because of the way they were routing stuff and we kept canceling service and at one point we were paying $100 for an unlisted number when we didn't have a number anymore.
oh yes the phone doesn't really know where you are because it doesn't invoke GPS at the first instance of needing location services instead it uses Wi-Fi location services which considering I've been dragging my travel router around with me for the past 20 years hesitancy to think I'm still at home or when we first moved into this house at the previous house or for this one Business I ran across the entire Business thought it was still at the old location. Otherwise it Hass to keep the GPS receiver warm and keep a lock on the satellites which drains the battery faster so they cheat and use the Wi-Fi location until more precise locations needed and the GPS chip warms up.
Okay makes sense
it'd be cool if i could dial this for free from ireland (it'd probably get me a hefty international call charge) p.s. you should adjust the geometry on your monitor ;P (newer CRTs have software-controlled geometry adjustments that can be done from the OSD and/or the service menu)
How the hell is Juno still in business in 2023?
because the company that owns them has found it cheaper to let it exist in runaway train fashion. its cheaper to keep it "plugged in" than paying to remove old heavy and expensive to move equipment at many sites across the country. its also possible they are still required to provide this service as part of a government grant
Came here to ask this question!!
Love the vid evan! :D
Thankyou Hanna!
it says you have a message in the Juno inbox
I will check it thanks!
@@dialupchronicles Hi there friend- please check your inbox again, I've sent you a message with an offer to licensing one of your epic videos here. Thanks for being in touch! Best Gin with Catch+Release

Thanks it was added with the power of Dial Up!!
If the phone is meant for emergencies, then this is the emergency to have it for!
Remember paying by the hour for internet, then broadband really felt like the future...You're telling me I can use my phone and the internet at the same time?! Sign me up. We had AOL dial up then we went with NTL Broadband..The fact it was "always online" you're right they really were exciting times, it was so much better than the dial up we had been using for years.
Yes agreed
