A tour of the grounds and Great Hall of Rufford Old Hall. Apparently four ghosts inhabit the old hall but I didn’t encounter any unusual paranormal activity 🙂. It is only possible to take photographs in the Great Hall due to Copyright issues with artefacts in the other rooms that are open to the public.

Hi Stephen. Lovely walk that mate. You got some amazing photos. ⛰🥾👍
@@DAoutdoors Thanks Dave. ❤️🙂❤️
So appreciated going to Scarisbrick Hall. Graduated 1983.
Love your layout! Looks quite interesting! I think you've done a nice job of it, thanks for sharing you train set with us! You've given me something to think about.
@@curtismarean6963 Thank you. 😀
I have only just discovered your channel. Wonder I did not find it sooner. I found it after looking to see if anybody had done a video about the stretch of the canal at Scarisbrick which is a very pretty stretch. I have done a number of similar videos to the ones you have been making so I understand the challenges involved. You have taken some stunning photos. You are a very good photographer.
@@retroguy49uk Wow, thank you for your fantastic comments. I do actually have a small narrow boat moored at Scarisbrick Marina, but I have walked the full length of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal from the wonderfully restored docks in Liverpool to Wigan top lock. I have also walked the route from the River Ribble, along both the River Douglas and Rufford Branch to the junction with the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at the Ship Inn. I love taking photographs and learning about the history of routes that I walk or Historic Homes that I visit. It’s funny I think my love of taking photos has changed the way I see things and now as soon as I see a view I seem to instinctively know it’s right. On the odd occasion I walked past a ‘view’ thinking that it will be better a few yards on and it has not been, so I’ve ended walking back to get that ‘view’. Thank you again for your really encouraging comments. 🙂
Thank you. Happy memories.
Thank you too
Nice
Thank you 🙂
Greetings. Beautiful scenery. Very lovely video.

@@adventurouswarrior Welcome.

Beautiful, but can I just say there’s no such thing as Lancashire AND Merseyside. Merseyside is (unfortunately) no more than an administrative name for an area within Lancashire. It’s not nor ever has or will be a ‘county’
HI Stephen. Wonderful mate, you have got to love Great Gable, very aptly named. It has so so much to offer. All the best mate
Hi Dave, yes Great Gable is a ‘Great’ Lakeland mountain. I am particularly interested in the southern face with both Great Napes and White Napes. I’d like to ‘Thread the Needle’ but am not overly keen on doing it on my own. 🙂
Beautiful nature
Yes it’s stunningly beautiful. Thank you.
Wow the views are stunning! Love the video!!
Thank you I’m delighted that you like the video.
@@adventurouswarrior 💯💯💯🤗🤗🤗
Hi Stephen. Wonderful video mate, there are some belting mountains on the Coledale Horeshoe, looks like you managed to pick a pretty good day in terms of the weather, which is a skill in itself at the moment! Haha All the best Dave 😀⛰🥾
Hi Dave thanks for your great feedback. I had been meaning to do this walk for sometime but it’s a bit of a drive and the weather was never right. I know the Coledale Head Inn well and used to frequent the place when I was a member of St Helen’s Rock Climbing Club. 🍺🍺🍺
❤❤❤
Thank you ❤️
@@adventurouswarrior You bet!
Sweet walk my dude! I wanna see more. Leaving a like and sub
Thank you so much ❤️
@@adventurouswarrior Anytime my fellow traveler!! ☺️❤️☺️
Someone has kindly mowed. Part of the cat tail walk. Near Sandy brook 👍
Yes I was speaking to someone at the Heatons Bridge Inn and told that someone had kindly mowed part of the Cat Tail Lane walk. Mind it is the landowners responsibility to maintain the public rights of way.
I was a boarder there in the mid 1970s. I didn't appreciate the beauty of the rooms then. Fascinating to see it again!
I boarded their in 1970-71, my parents lived in South Africa. Travelled all on my own, felt like a celebrity with air hostesses looking after me. Enjoyed every minute at the school and great to see it again. Moved to Australia in 1974, but still have memories of the UK. 👍🇦🇺
Shocking the state of the footpaths. Is it case of use it or lose it. Or should our corrupt & inept councils be looking after them, as a matter of course?
I am currently walking all the public footpaths in Scarisbrick for the Scarisbrick Parish Council. Apparently there is a facility to complain about missing signs, footpath obstruction, ploughed up paths, dangerous stiles and bridges on the Lancashire County Council website.
Complaints regarding the condition of our Public Footpaths can be made at: lancashire.gov.uk
Great song, I hate impersonators, but I like what you did , sounds and loo,s great
Thanx
The place is truly stunning, presenting a breathtaking sight. Have a great day 👍💞
Thank you! You too!
Wow that's lots of snow, must be freezing there. Have a great day 👍💞
Thanks for visiting
Hi Stephen! Lets's discover with you the breathtaking charm of Lindale, Carmel, and Hampsfell on an exquisite walking tour. new Sub 💖

Wonderful flight over your garden! Have a nice weekend, my friend, greetings from Romania!
Thank you and you too.🙂
I suppose the whole house would have been white in the past?
Interesting question. The ‘Pele’ tower was demolished so that a more comfortable family home could be built. The lowest parts of the tower are still evident. I remarked to the guide about the ‘White Tower’, which I think looks out of place. Apparently the current owners have researched and found that only the tower was painted white. Perhaps it’s in recognition that the ‘Hall’ was once a ‘ Pele Tower.’ From my understanding the current building dates from the 1500s.
Great Rocked Up version!!!
Thank you very much, awesome video! Wonderful mansion. stunning gardens! I wish you a beautiful weekend!
Have you seen my other ‘Old Hall’ TH-cam videos? I was disappointed that I couldn’t photograph the rooms, they were superb. Thanks again for your support!🙂
Buenos modelos, buen video. No obstante para mi gusto los haces ir demasiado deprisa.
Thank you very interesting house not too sure where it’s located
It’s in a village called Scarisbrick just off the A570 very close to Southport.
As a Scaysbrook I find this video fascinating, so a rip is planned, its only a few hours away
Thank you for your encouraging comments. There is an ‘Open Day’ on the 11th May 2024. I’m not sure if that’s to showcase the school or the hall, or perhaps even both. I’m very fortunate as I only live a mile away from such a beautiful building and park. 🙂
Thanks for the tour. I had always been fascinated by this gothic wonder of the Pugins since I read about it in "The Victorian Country House". Perhaps I'll make it there one day.
Marc würde sich freuen, jedes Jahr im September ein Anniversary Konzert zu sehen. ❤.
Hi Stephen. That brings back some memories. When I was a kid 39 odd years ago we had a model railway in Blackpool that you could go to and take control of all the trains. I loved it. Thanks for sharing this, brilliant! 😀👍🚂
Hi I’ve had a model railway since I was 12, in fact I still have all my OO / HO stuff and I have a railway (G Scale Live Steam) in my back garden. 🙂
Кто это? (Who is it?)👏🎸🎶🎤
Ich bin jetzt 67 Jahre alt und Trex tasy ist für mich Trex bis zum heutigen Tag danke 🙏 und dein Konzert in Islington 2019 war super ❤
Absolutely MAGICAL!!!!! 2 19 pm. I live in the mountains of western North Carolina
Thank you for your lovely comment ❤️
Hi Stephen, wonderful mate. I do love the Fairfield Horseshoe, I did it the clockwise route too, I want to go back and do it the other way round. Get the real hard graft done first and then have a meander down the other side down to Nab Scar. Thanks for sharing mate, loved it. All the best, Dave
Well I looked at the weather forecast and it looked like wall to wall sunshine, sadly it was not. But due to the cloud formation and inversions it looked very atmospheric. Thanks for your lovely comment 😀
@@adventurouswarrior I’ve given up looking at the forecast now to be honest Stephen! 🤣🤣
Next Tuesday looks good 😂🤣😂
@@adventurouswarrior Haha, they can’t get it right for the next hour! 🤣🤣
Wow! Do you still have this narrow boat? I worked at the Devizes marina when this was on sale. Always loved this little boat!
Hi yes I do. The boat is currently moored at the Scarisbrick Marina on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. I had a lot of work done to the boat and had a professional respray and changed the colour from Green to Navy blue. It’s really great to hear from you. 🙂
So picturesque. We had snow in Southport over night but it’s all but gone now.
We had a smattering this morning in Cleveleys, then it rained and it's all gone now. haha
Thanks Dave and Happy New Year to you too! I found the route for the walk in my local free magazine ‘Grange Now.’ They publish a monthly local walk, some are very good. I’ll definitely do this one again and call in for a pint at the Cuckoo Brow Inn at the end.
Excellent, what a great idea that is, good on them. At last we are finally getting some weather where we can get out. December has just been a washout. We were out on Helvellyn last Saturday. It was lovely.
Wonderful video Stephen, loved that. Some great views. All the best for the new year, cheers Dave
Hi Stephen. Lovely video mate. Thanks for sharing your adventure. The TH-camr Blag Crag was up there a few weeks ago in his video. Looks a really interesting place. Hope you had a lovely Christmas and all the best for the New Year. 😀🥾⛰
Hi Dave Cheers and all the very best to you for Christmas and the New Year. 🍺🍺🍺. I’ve never heard of ‘Black Crag’ so I’ll have to check his videos out. I’ve very recently bought a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone so hopefully I’ll be able to get some exciting footage. But I’m not sure that I’ll take it on all my adventures. 😀

Hi yes it is. Lots of variety and beginner friendly. It was one of my first ever caves back in the 1980s. The Cheese Press is good fun and can be avoided. 😀
