Hello everyone, I call myself Zondagskind, and I like to play videogames. I stream over on Twitch and make videos on TH-cam.
In 2023, I made content in Civ VI, Town of Salem 1, Victoria 3, Ostriv, and Islanders. This year, I'm working on a big challenge marathon in Civ VI, so other games will feature sporadically at best, but you can always give me suggestions.

if u havent seen multiplayer... arthur is S+. Being able to kill your neighbour before they have a chance. Just with a hero and 4 scouts you get 3-4 cities. Also you can use it one the era rolls over, and get questing knights compare to knights, while others just have horsemen. Works on killing deity ai as well.
This is mostly for Singleplayer Deity, and while it definitely does work there if timed well, the window is smaller because the AI usually rush walls. Also, on Deity it just hurts so much to put production into something that goes away in 12 turns.

Picking Path over River was a smart choice in this instance As other civs you are more likely to chop rainforests, but Vietnam wants to keep them for districts Her ability also allows you to place districts on rainforests without crushing the feature giving you 1.5 adjacency instead of 1
@cuneytsevi3502 true, I like it in general but I felt like it was a much better option in this case.
Can you maybe make a unique improvement tier list ?
@verhxngerter3592 I'm working on it, but first I have to try and get back on track with the challenges. 😁
Da heck. Great library is solid B tier. Its good in science and culture games. If you rush is you WILL get it. In science games, it makes for A LOT of scinece boosts, esp late game ones that are unboostable. In culture, it basically means you dont have to worry about science ever again
@luisgutierrez8047 it's just very hard to get because of the tech path, and there's other ways to get great Scientists.
@@Zondagskind.Gaming what are you talking about? Its a culture wonder that is easy to boost into. Its also not too much of a deviation from feudalism. Just two civics after finishing political philosophy. The way the AI is OBSESSED with building campuses, you will only ever get ONE great scientist per era. This wonder with 2-3 boosts basically provides the equivalent of another great scientist per era, effectively doubling them. And....AGAIN many late game great scientists are basically worthless. An eureka for a tech that theres literally no way to boost is way better
Some opinions I have that are different. Biosphere: Honestly, I disagree that it's something that needs to be planned out from the beginning. Biosphere is an incredible pivot strategy, where you were going for a science victory, but you then realize that an AI is beating you to it (or you just want a faster victory type), and then you realize that the AI has very low culture, pivoting to a science-culture victory works great! Orszaghaz: This isn't a diplo victory wonder, it's a gold generating economy wonder! Sell all that diplo favor, and usually it'll be more impactful than winning a congress (usually....) Oracle: Very over rated IMO, simply because it costs too much in the early game compared to what it gives, and it makes no sense to build for the most powerful meta strategy, which is getting a religion. Every victory type and most civilizations want to get a religion, since monumentality and holy sites with a religion like feed the world or coral music is just completely overpowered. This means that your capital probably has a holy site first and a government plaza second, meaning the oracle kinda does nothing for you if you build it in your capital. Sure, off meta civs like Grease, Gaul, or Maya would love to have it, but for most civs, it doesn't help their most powerful strategies, and going for it kinda nerfs you. I honestly thought I'd have more disagreements, nice list!
Thanks! I don't pivot as much as I used to, since I go into these challenge test games with one condition in mind, so I may undervalue Biosphère in that sense. For Oracle, I think that there's actually a great synergy with faith-heavy games, because I'll often use that faith to get some Great People and Oracle lowers the cost for that. I do think the tech path makes it a risky build, and I especially struggle with it in Shuffle Mode.
@@Zondagskind.Gaming Yeah, I might be undervaluing the discount on GP purchasing, especially for game changing people like Imhotep (3 practically free wonders is sooo good). It still seems situational to me, doubly so given the high risk of missing it since the AI loves it (I know you said you didn't consider that too heavily, but I think it's really important). Maybe I'll give it another chance though, since I've improved a lot since I gave up on it as a reliable strategy.
The few times I get excited over a desert wonder outside of specialist civs: I have often rolled maps that have a smallish desert patch with greener lands around it. There have been a few games that I’ve been able to fan out around the wonder, and get 3-4 decent holy sites with good adjacency, while only sacrificing a few tiles to desert. It’s sometimes workable if you want to use work ethic to make holy sites into ancient era industrial zones. It doesn’t scale well to late game, but if you snowball 3-4 high production cities into a wider empire spam, you’ll be well set up by the time the pantheon loses its usefulness. All that being said desert wonders are definitely weakest, but I think I’d prefer a desert wonder settle in a lot of cases over a good volcano wonder spawn; where I’m gonna be battling environmental all game.
I feel Estadio deserves higher than B tier. AI rarely picks it up and getting those amenities can give you 20% bonus to all yields across your empire.
It is very good, but it's very late. Worth building every time, maybe even worth rushing the civic sometimes. But as far as impact on your game, many others will have a greater impact just because the come earlier. I think you could make an argument for A tier, but only barely. B seems fair to me.
I don’t disagree with your thoughts on Biosphere, being a wonder that in theory you sort of plan your game around. I have so many memories though of panic rushing biosphere and tearing down my entire empire to replace with wind and solar to eleventh hour clutch culture win in a few games where a science focused ai was too far in the snowball. It will always hold a place in my heart as the “oh shit; can I save this deity game?” Red Button lol
If you get the city state that turns bonus resources to amenity giving ones (I forget honestly, I want to say it’s Buenos Aires or Singapore) then wheat becomes an S tier luxury lol
As a Civ 6 fan who listens to Guilty Gear music, I personally pick Divine Spark: "THE ROAR OF THE SPPPPAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRKKKKKKK!!!!!"
For me the viking longship deffo deserves to be in S tier, having won science games with a purely pillage based economy
I once had a city in tundra, full of forest hills, with spice corporation and 3 more spices, all while having an insane industrial zone (+5 bonus), St Basil’s cathedral, and playing as Russia That city managed to become the largest city in the world without a single farm in its workable range
@@Audisknfj Love it! 😄
Cool perspectives! A lot of the ranking run quite contrary to a lot of the other tier lists so it was very interesting to hear the rationale
Very useful video. Might want to learn a little Spanish for basic pronunciation.
Certain Civs being mentioned such as Canada with mine luxuries or camp luxuries in the Tundra actually work out even better. Don't have to go overboard, but Spices & Furs in Tundra can create an impeccable Tundra start - particularly with a few Deer littered about. Double Camps + Plantations with Temple of Artemis I've had be easily 8+ Amenities before.
Trying to rate a civ’s unique unit without factoring in the civ it belongs to has got to be the most pointless challenge you gave yourself. You think these units just fell out of a coconut tree?
@Cassius4 Well, I explained why I do it and the pros and cons of it in the video, and I don't remember using the word "coconut tree".
@@Zondagskind.Gaming He was referencing Kamala Harris when he said 'fell out of a coconut tree'
This channel is really underrated.
@Annoyingeditzwaddlesarc2012 thanks!
Playing civ pvp really made me realize how op amenities are.
I've never played Theodora, so this is a pretty good excuse to give her a shot.
Hell yeah! Honestly she's even better on a land map, but using a naval map to make use of the Dromôn is also fun.
Did you make a vid about Civ7? Did I just miss it or you didnt?
@@Diaboli21 No, I didn't! Just felt like I didn't have anything to say that somebody else hasn't already said. But maybe I'll find a format for it later on. 😁
city patron goddess is good in games where you don't really know what you are going to do or in games with bad spawns because it can help you catch up through districts
I disagree with Samurai. Feudalism represents the single biggest power spike in civ 6 because the additional charges on builders + the scaling costs of builders means your builders will start from 66% more efficient to up to 100% more efficient. Those builders can then chop out more hyper efficient builders which can quickly turn a lacking empire into a highly improved one. That’s means you wanna focus culture more then science in the early game to get feudalism. Having a unit in the culture tree AT feudalism means you can deforest your empire with 5 charges builders to pump out samurai AND they have a bigger window then conventional man at arms. They’re A tier, honestly S tier simply because they unlock the single best civic/tech in the game and can be paired super well with the power spike. Any scientific unique unit around this time still needs culture to get feudalism, reducing the amount of science required to get it quick, with Samurai it’s a super culture rush to get man at arms faster and cheaper then anyone else. Put any medieval unit at feudalism and it’s an automatic A tier, especially since after political philosophy it’s a clean 3 tech path to feudalism with the colosseum wonder also being takable for even more culture. Taken at face value Samurai are ok, but when building around them and planning for their timing they are ridiculous.
@mishaf19 I think we agree on what makes the Samurai good, and fair enough: this specific unlock is really good.
Imo basil is better because theodora is also largely a militaristic civ because of taxis and hippodrome
Yay!
