29:27 syncing the midified LM1 to the midi of the MemoryMoog, woaw, that was risky, playing in big stadiums, such a rapid sequence. I've had disasters with proper Midi to Midi that worked in rehearsals, soundchecks and didn't when live for unknown reasons, so that was brave ! But the Dr. would have played it by hand in case of crash no doubt ! Great interview, thanks !!

I LOVE seeing these guys geek out about these keyboards. It takes me back to my own keyboard odysseys. I was a few years behind them. Playing Jellyfish and Moog Cookbook cd’s while driving cross country to spend all my money on old synths. These are my kind of nerds.

Guys a straight up creative genius, tbf... who happens to be a badass guitarist. Fascinating to listen to, especially his perspective on England... haha ' everything was very 'imperial' back then... did PI get a mention....🤔 I rate his stance on guitars too... used, beat up old things lol... before I knew it I was up to my balls in the things... bought one for every year I played, so by the time I was 25 I had over 20... which was more than one a year .... but that's not the point, I was playing 'catch-up'... basically i bought every second hand guitar or bass I saw, for a time...had to curb it, my house was starting to look a bit like Jeff Lynn's lol. Not on the same level as Rick, but I bought some rare ones. Did he say that they did acid and listened to The Beatles n Jethro Tull....🤔 fucking legend 😄🌈😎❤

"I'm self-taught...I play what I think the song needs" Oh Rick...you know and I know the majority of great musicians are self-taught. Your humility is always refreshing though. He didn't get a picture because he was stupid. Can we say that now? Honestly, the only way a man can get away with missing the birth of his son is to say (and for his wife to know) that he really WAS recording a song with John Lennon. I'm sure she's forgiven you by now. :-)

I had a TEAC 3340 back then, and a book on how to DIY recording, that happened to have Stingo on the cover. Cost 700 quid in 1987, had to sell it for 400 a year later, but such great fun.
