Just asking, it says an 18 part series, but searching only finds this one….am I doing something wrong? Really enjoyed watching this, some great history thrown in with beautiful scenery! 👌🏻👍🏻
That's so kind! So sorry, didn't see this comment earlier - find part 2 now! I've just uploaded - will pull my finger and edit the rest much quicker now I hope! So glad you're enjoying the format! There's still ways to go!
I remember that scramble over the Riverside Rocks on the upper section after High Force, now try to imagine that with a 30kg backpack and a 5kg front pack with my camera gear in it, I did that section as part of my Darlington to Richmond Hike a few years ago aged 60, 4 very wet days in the rain walking from Darlington to High Force then over the hills to High Cup Nick before progrssing to Kirkby Stephens, Keld then finishing in Richmond, before catching a local bus back to Darlington, luckily for me my hiking pole can double up as a monopod to attach a camera Canon plus a 18 to 35mm and a 600mm lens to it, a vast improvement on my first Digital Camera way back in the early 1990s which was no bigger than a pack of 20 Marlboro and the images no bigger than a box of matches. Images from that hike cound be found in the Photo Section Here -> facebook.com/TonyUK11/ NO friends request needed as anyone World Wide can view them. Tony in Essex
What a start...the Granddaddy of all trails...good luck...[ new sub ]
@@atrampinthehills.841 thanks so much! Looking forward to showing you all the rest of the trip!
I have just watched, and added some of my memories from my First Pennine Way way back in 1976 prior to joining the Army, so expect more from my memory banks on your next upload. Tony the retired Hiker in Essex
Good Luck Guys, I first did this in 1976 prior to joining the Army and it toook 12 days campig along the way, love every step of the way. I return to the Pennine Way after I left the Army in 1976 and managed to do it in 10 days. Tony the Retired Hiker in Essex
Oh I almost forgot I was carrying a 30kg Backpack and followed the Earlier Route as devised by Wainwright up Grindle Brook then over to the Kinder Downfall NOT the newer easier route up the steps to Kinder Downfall.
After leaving Kinder Downfall I hit the Peat Bogs and boy some of them were very deep, so deep that I was often waist deep in black boggy peat. YES todays route and the stone/gravel paths are a vast improvement. My first days objective was Crowden YHA which I achieved at 6pm that first day after nearly 12 hrs hiking.
I will try to add my memories (with the aid of my notes from my Pennine Way Companion Book) as you progress to Kirk Yetholme. Tony the Retired Hiker in Essex.
@@user-TonyUK tony this is amazing to hear and I'm so glad you'll stick around to see the rest of the journey! It was a slog but I know how much harder it would've been in the 70's! The peat bogs were horrendous... Stick around and share so more people can see!
@@PenninePathfinders All the new lighter weight camping gear and rucksack would and been very welcomed when I did it with my 30KG Backpack and oh what a pity we never had digital cameras back in the late 1970s.
You actually come across really well on camera bro - although- obviously you asked what clothing brand is what’s your favourite….. such a carhart whore 👀
Lovely video man, can’t beat the UK countryside ❤
What an amazing adventure to undertake!
