Greatest Starting Rotation | Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz
มุมมอง 39K2 ปีที่แล้ว
During the 90s the Atlanta Braves formed what is undoubtably the greatest trio of starting pitchers we have seen in baseball. The trio was Tom Glavine, John Smoltz and Greg Maddux. All three Cy Young award winners and all three Hall of Famers. This is how the three became teammates and how they eventually split up. Was this the Best MLB fight ever?
มุมมอง 150K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Amir Garrett is a big man standing at 6'5", he was also a former college basketball player and is a current MLB relief pitcher. However he is probably most known for the time he decided to take on the entire Pittsburgh Pirates dugout. This is what lead up to that point. soundcloud.com/lakeyinspired/chill-day?si=26a5b3e5166b4b41b50e513715482812 Background song is Chill Day by Lakey Inspired: www...
The video would have more context if you mentioned those who won and their stats compared to those who didn't or should have
That's a good idea
And steve Avery!!
Avery was awesome as well……
Bonds on Atlanta would have been crazy especially they wouldn’t have been up much for him
@@robertl3592if the trade went through, the braves probably wouldn't have gotten maddux later on but it is an interesting what if.
How about the 300 plus players taken before Albert Pujols lol
Nolan was the Beast of that i agree the most Pleasing pitcher to watch throw a ball. His wind up always put a smile on my face to this day......My Favorite pitcher? I got to see Randy Johnson up close..NOW who is my Fav? John Smoltz....The Man Did It ALL Start ,Relieve,Close and at the highest Level.I tend to Like Versatility as a key to your Value to "The Team"...Now for My Team Seattle. We have one of those that has been the Utility Knife for us for years and is just now getting his Due Recognition......Dylan Moore...."Plug and Play" love him.
WHAT ABOUT STEVE AVERY??
The Pirates tried to sign Josh Gibson in 1939 but were not allowed to by Commissioner Landis.
How could you miss the best park Oracle park I’m not event a giants fan
Larry Toby's numbers and Jackie Robinson are not worthy of hall of fame there are players with better numbers Steve Garvey vada Pinson to name a few check out stats before criticizing me
1971 Orioles had four 20-game winners in a season: Jim Palmer, Dave McNally, Mike Cuellar, and Pat Dobson.
How you can make these 3 guys sound boring AF..... Dude work on your delivery.
Those 3 should have won more Championships but they had to face the checking account of the Yankees .. hands down the best 3 rotation I’ve ever seen in my 54 yrs of life !! And I live in St.louis Cardinals territory.. Carpenter, Wainwright and Ingringhausen were outstanding also winning a couple of Championships…
Imagine a three game series, ok their ace is a hof pitcher but after him.....
1920 chicago white sox Red Faber 23-13 ,Eddie Cicotte 21-10, Lefty Williams 22-14 Dickey Kerr 21-9 you don't know your baseball( BOY)
Mike Cuellar,Jim Palmer,Dave McNally, Pat Dobson all 20 game winners on one team GREATEST STARTING ROTATION
To only win 1 world series with that starting rotation makes no sense. Talk about underachieving
If you don't know Larry Doby, you don't know baseball. ❤
I was growing up in ATL and it was known as the big 4. Steve Avery filling the last spot. Underrated pitcher that deserves way more credit.
Yep! Big Braves fan. Avery was solid.
That's right
This was the era. The Braves seemed invincible at the time. Only strikes when Maddux thru.
Amazing trio of Legends
They had steve Avery at once too
My grandpas favorite player, well done
6:32 it was because Turner no longer owned the Braves, it was part of that massive Time-Warner merger, so without his deep pockets, Glavine was never going to be offered by the Braves what the Mets offered.
Just the fact every year was either Smoltz or Glavine or Maddux for winning the Cy Young between 1991 and 1996 should tell you how great they were in the first half of the 90's. Once they started turning 30 their dominance waned, but those 5 years though, WOW!
Greg Maddux threw more than 2 pitches. Come on.
Ted Williams not winning it in 1941 was outrageous as well he hit .406 with ops 1.287 37 hrs 120 rbi’s
He pitched nd hit a dingger 💪🏽
1995, Albert Belle. 50 HR, 50 2B. Led the Indians to a 100-44 record and the WS. Lost because he didn't get along with the press
98 Orioles and Yankees. Graeme Lloyd becomes a made man in NY for this one. Strawberry also went off with the hay makers.
The Yanks and Red Sox almost traded Joe DiMaggio for Ted Williams. Luckily, the GMs sobered up and canceled the deal.
I believe this trade was supposed to take place in 1946 or thereabouts. Actually I heard that this was a done deal but the dealbreaker was at the last minute, the Red Sox wanted a young Yogi Berra to be thrown in the deal but the Yankees wasn’t having it.
Wonderful video. I feel bad for making this comment, but Travis Demeritte’s last name is pronounced “da-merit.” I subscribed off this video though!
Thanks
Abbott/ Greene/ Lodolo A great young trio that could compare in the next decade.
Or what the A's had with Tim Hudson, Mark Mulder and Barry Zito.
Being a HomeTown fan and having such a flourish of talent in the pitching rotation in the 90s, these guys made me want to pay more attention to pitchers.
That right there is the problem Kris Bryant lead the Cubs to a WS win when will Judge get the Yankees to a World Series.
One trade that almost happen that no one talk a loud is that Yankees and braves that would send as Jeff Blauser for Bernie Williams
Very interesting, I say yes to a part two
I like the fact more people have set foot on the moon than scored a run off of Mariano Rivera in the playoffs.
As a Jays fan, a few people came thru the Org but it’s pretty sad that our pick got wasted on a dude who never signed.
Baseball is not a easy sport only 3% of minor league made the cut
13:51 bro what the actual fuck hahaha
I hate they don’t even mention Steve Avery 😢
The player selected after Judge was my friend’s kid, Ian Clarkin, coincidentally by the Yankees. Injuries have crushed his dreams of making it to the show. Scouting can only predict so much.
Injuries can really suck. Atleast he probably got a good size signing bonus being picked so early
Considering Garrett completely whiffed on his haymakers, I'd say no. I think Ryan/Ventura is the best mlb fight.
Supposedly Hunter renfroe is a racist so that’s probably why he’s never stuck with a team
My nephew played AA with Renfroe, & rumor has it, he is quite the racist.
Moses Fleetwood Walker was actually the first African American baseball player. He played 42 games for the Toledo Blue Stockings (that was considered a major league team at the time) in 1884, part of the American Association. Him playing led to the owners making their "gentleman's agreement", banning African Americans from playing until Jackie Robinson came along.
Angels fans actually hate hunter rendroe
Really. Why is that?
Lets be honest, he's not sitting the league on fire like that one player is thats making none baseball fans tune in. This video makes it seem like he's some sort of lebron james/Curry ball player for the league. At 31 years old , he only had 2 great seasons,
2s st centry sports fans they love to come on the internet and bitch blah blah blah gtfoh
What a completely ignorant take. Find a new sport to watch, because you don't get baseball.
2013 was a Historically BAD Draft.
