Varanasi, one of the oldest cities in the world, is renowned for its iconic ghats that line the banks of the Ganges River. Each ghat has its own unique significance and charm, attracting pilgrims and tourists alike. Dashashwamedh Ghat, the most famous, is known for its vibrant evening aarti ceremonies, where devotees gather to witness the mesmerizing rituals. Assi Ghat, located at the southern end, offers a more tranquil atmosphere, perfect for morning boat rides and yoga sessions. The ghats not only serve as spiritual hubs but also as cultural landmarks, showcasing the rich heritage and traditions of this sacred city.
There are a total of 88 Ghats in this ancient city dedicated to Mahadev - most of the Ghats are bathing and puja ceremony Ghats, while two Ghats are exclusively used as cremation sites.
