Imagine having an opinion on a train that you only rode once
please oh please bring the Metro North to Alb/Rensselaer, the tracks are already here!
They should build the full Queens Bypass line first, that would justify the swap.
Just make the Z a true express during peak times.
Your voice irritates me.
I don't see why both N and Q can run to Stillwell.
Jeez, man. All that just to change things around? There are so many simpler ways to do this, instead of spending billions.
I used to take the Z train skip stop in the mornings when i had to go to Broadway Junction to catch the L three years ago.
Also there is no room to put the Red Line extension on the Bishop Ford south of 111th as there is no median, plus anytime there is any amount of heavy rainfall, the left lanes of the Bishop Ford flood. IDOT knows this, but they don’t want to do a damn thing to fix it as that whole section of I-94 would have to be brought up to current interstate standards.
How about a video explaining Brooklyn's street grid
Yes, but barely as it's only utilize during an hour with six trains per hour resulting in a ten minute wait and it's one way peck direction
interesting, never realized Cross-Bronx was a necessity, but, if the bus ridership numbers confirm it... I mean, the fact such a dense if shrinking neighborhood is so much underserved when it comes to transport, that is a problem, especially, if the neighborhood is already an underprivileged part of the city,
The Z train should be rechristened the J Express and run as a proper express train on the centre track.
All the way to B'way Jct
Z train always doesn't run on Middays
I thought the Z Train was an NYC subway endangered species
The Z doesn’t exist.
Z train should be discontinued
It should be rebranded as a weekday local from Broadway Junction to Chambers Street. The J would then run express from Broadway Junction to Marcy Avenue
It was to be discontinued by the 2010 budget cuts, but when the New York State Legislature offered MTA some money, they changed their mind.
No
@@56CharlesTadareChannel I think it's just a redundant J line to be honest.
Me, who regularly caught the 7:12 AM Z train pre-pandemic: yeah you right, I'm just imagining things. Now why does this J train with a funny letter shape keep skipping the same stops for no reason (By that same logic, J skip-stop trains don't exist either and the audio announcements are wrong lmao)
Maybe if the Z train were to utilize the express track between Broadway Junction and Myrtle - Broadway, along with the existing peak direction express service between Myrtle - Broadway and Marcy Avenue, it could save more time. But like you said, ridership is evenly distributed throughout the line, so people would have to wait longer either way.
Makes sense until you figure that train has to be made up somewhere. That's why I proposed a "K" from Broadway East NY from the yard to 95th Street with the "R". It would be Express also skipping Marcy. J/Z would be local with the "M"
“BMT Jamaica still exists?” - IND
What is a Z train? I thought it was a myth.
Technically it exists because it runs during rush hours and it is a express/skip stop route.
Spinning conspiracy theories, are we? The LIRR is also looking at electrifying the Port Jefferson Branch.
Would this mean that this would Technically Be a new Transit Line in NYC? Called the T Train?
The first one seemed somewhat reasonable until I heard the 9 train and re-implemented skip-stop service and that's when I knew something was up lol
IF THE G TRAIN IS EXTENDED TO FOREST HILLS HAV THE M RUN TO 179 STREET THE R TRAIN RUN TO ASTORIA THE N TRAIN CAN BE UNCHANGED THE F VIA 53 STREET THE M TRAIN VIA 63 STREET THE W TRAIN TO 179 STREET AND THE E TRAIN WILL BE UNCHANGED EXCEPT AT RUSH HOURS WHEN THE E TRAIN CAN RUN 20 TRAINS AN HOUR HALF TO 179 STREET AND HALF TO JAMAICA CENTER
With or without a transfer? A train without the A and 1 with
All I wanted them to do was rebuild the Republic station, especially when I worked at Airport Plaza. It was in the 2015-2019 Capital Plan, but the Town of Babylon voted no because they were concerned about an increase in traffic. And what did we get instead? A 7-Eleven across the street from where the station used to be.
That's going to screw over Stony Brook students so hard, especially if they try to overserve the Ronkonkoma branch and intentionally underserve the Port Jefferson-Montauk branch.
Did girlie just call the 59th street bridge "The Queens Bridge?". Like what? Like i didn't know they renamed the tribouro but the 59th cannot have been renamed to "The Queens Bridge"
I think the city needs a new mayor for this Queenslink project to go through cause I don't think Mayor Adams knows what he's supporting being in favor of Queensway a project that will block any transit expansions that are important over Queenslink. I think the people of the city should elect a new mayor in the next election and not vote for Adams cause he seems to be hurting the people of Queens instead of helping them. If I lived in the city I wouldn't vote for him in the next election he's definitely not getting my vote for that.
douglaston to little neck on PW branch? you can see little neck sta from the douglaston sta
I also think y'all in New York City would be better off extending the ( G ) out into Astoria. Maybe one day the Court Square branch can be extended to LaGuardia via a deep bore tunnel under or beside the Queens Boulevard Line until Northern Boulevard splits off which is the route the branch would take to LaGuardia.
Path?
Forest Hills 71st Continental Avenue's Station in Queens is a bad terminal in Queens Boulevard Line. Hillside Avenue Extension in Queens is hopefully the future for the (F) Train should be terminat to Floral Park Atlantic Avenue/Caroline Place Station in Nassau County to connect to the Long Island Rail Road. And the (M)/(R) should extend to 251st Street-Little Neck Parkway Station except late nights. For Queens Link for the (M) is hopefully the future for the (M).
Forest Hills is not a bad terminal if you know how to use them correctly. Those terminals are also in use on the Moscow Metro to turn 40 tph.
@@jointransitassociationwhile forest hills can be a really good terminal I still really like extending a local further east either ending at 179th or continuing along a Hillside Ave Extension
I'm a big proponent of turning the Second Avenue into a 2nd/3rd Ave. Line in the Bronx to replace the former 3rd Avenue El. An alternative is make it go up Boston Road in the Bronx Instead to connect to 2 and 5 at Pelham Parkway after cutting by the Bronx Zoo. Alternatively making it the Bronx 3rd Avenue line will serve a lot of people who are closer to the Metro North Harlem Line than a regular subway line. The line could go to Gun Hill Road and White Plains Road like before to make a transfer to the 2 and 5, instead keep going all the way to Co-op City which is not served by any subway line and the Metro North is still years away. Also extend the 6 Co-op City train to Co-op City and have it run to the border of Pelham where there is a shopping area and can connect to the BX. 16 and Westchester buses
Which of these plans sounds like the best future plan for NYC’s commuter rail system? - Extend the Metro North to Lower Manhattan. - Extend the Atlantic Branch to Lower Manhattan. - Bring the LIRR to Staten Island. - Convert some parts of the LIRR or Metro North, or maybe even the whole of the Staten Island Railway into regional rail.
ur never beating hardcore mode
It’s sad that MTA asks for money to hire a group of track builders. I’m afraid trying to build it alone will kick you off premises.
I believe the construction should have a very clear timeframe, like a lease within which those who propose a transit system must get at least something done on this line... this cannot be allowed to remain dead-land just in case a transit project ever shows up, I do believe in transforming unused infrastructure into parks unless it can be made useful again. wastelands reserved by the transit authority are as much a block to the cities development as a park is a block to future transit... both need to be checked.
we have the basic DATA on how this QueensLink is supposed to help commuters it's 47'000 to 225'000 depending on how it's done... not a small number, & not a number I necessarily trust, but, taking it, let us ask, how many people will use the Queensway park, and for how many of them will it be a quality-of-life changing thing??? i.e.: what do we lose with this proposal, or how does what kind of park will still exist and how equivalent is it to the original proposal... not everything needs to be linked to everything, though, if this is a very necessary link, as is being suggested, it should be pushed through as a priority. if this is going to be done by the government, maybe sweeten the deal & suggest to convert some other government run facilities into parks instead... such as, if there are any sections of tunnel which are guaranteed to be now unnecessary, maybe, move some the state-penitentiaries or immigrant processing facilities down there, this would seriously free up space on the surface. another thing is state-colleges with programs that do not have real-world applications, by cutting them down, you will be able to merge the campus's into a university with a leaner and much more useful range of degrees. the freed up space may be used to create green spaces. obviously, these are all quite radical moves, depending on the particular needs of a borough and the individual areas superfluous real-estate, but there are options to get both a QueensLink and a full Queensway equivalent without having to demonize those who do not need to commute but want to improve their own neighborhood (of course, once the public transport situation becomes perfection, the time will come when all those 16 lane highways can be converted into park spaces, but I do not like to plan that far ahead.
Thanks for your comment. Three things. Queenslink is both. Rails and parks. There is ample space for both. The 47k stat is misleading. It is derived from using 4 tph, no consideration of expanded QBL local service, and ending the line at Howard Beach. Queenslink would have at least 10 tph, return the G to Forest Hills (even though I disagree with this), and extend the line over to the Rockaways. The MTA did not evaluate Queenslink, they evaluated a JFK airport connector, and even then, 47k is nothing to scoff at. Queens has a lot to lose without Queenslink. It is a direct way to add more trains to the Rockaways, parallel two of the most congested north-south roads in Queens, add QBL local capacity, create a direct path for hundreds of thousands of Queens residents, which would shorten trips by as much as 15-30 minutes one way. This is all achievable with a right of way that is already given to us, the Rockaway Beach Branch, which means the cost would be cheaper. By building Queensway, this is infinitely harder. The Atlanta Belt Line is one recent example, where the park was built before the train, only for the train aspect to be held up for 10 years and counting.
@@jointransitassociation thank you for the detail to me, NYC always seemed very Manhattan Centric, so whenever I see talk of "intraborough connections" I am always a little bit suspicious as to their need, however, I will say that this is possibly a bias based on personal experience... I forget what that statistical falsity is called, when you accidentally know 5 people who do thesame thing and presume therefore the whole world does it.
I like how this channel actually takes money into account always found people like RM transit, whilst good in terms of concept-creation, lacking in a grounding in the reality of what can be built and how then again, we are talking NYC, which is already a transit rich environment with a Transit culture...
Yes and no. While Jamaica 179th street would be a much better place to terminate the M and R trains. There are numerous problems with this proposal. One being that I don’t think 179th Street would be able to turn three trains in one sitting and two most important people on the easternmost stations of the queens Blvd and hillside avenue line will just transfer to the F train since it’s the express
Historical note: in the 1990s, R Train service extended to 179 Street, while the G Train service wxtended during late night hours; currently M and R Train services terminates at Continental Avenue while the F Train continues serving all stops to/from 179 Street.
But i love that 21st-74th Street run thos 🥹
staten islands lucky no NYC train goes there
Sending it to Jamaica-179 Street would give it a hard time, especially when you have trains that operate to Kings Hwy during the rush hour. Also, it’s going to be hectic for operators to operate out of there since they have to know the lineup for their route.
I would’ve also created a Easton Branch for Regional Rail. It would branch off the Allentown Branch right before Bethlehem with intermediate stations at Steel City/Freemansburg and Glendon and add a Pottstown station on the Reading Line. I hope this series continues!
Where is part two to what can U.S. transit do with the military budget?
coming after GTA 6
Extend the R to Jamaica Center
That won’t work sending it to 179 St would be better
@@Reformpersonyeah and also if we do the hillside ave Extension it would work
