I lived in Lancaster for 34-years. I retired in 2010 and the door didn't hit me in the butt. This town was a hell hole when I left, I bet its 10-times worse now. If you love your family don't move there.

Beautiful photo of the high school auditorium. Long ago, the Jr college was housed just west of this building, in what was a study hall and foreign language classes when I attended in the fifties. The high school was on the extreme south end of town. Today it is in the center of a virtual metropolis.

I’ve been here going on 22 years now. This is a place where i’ve experienced both highs and lows in life. Unfortunately though, in the last 22 years that i’ve been here, this city has made incremental progress when it comes to development. I thought by now this city along with Palmdale would be a lot more relevant to Los Angeles County than they are at this moment. There’s so much barren land here and vacant strip malls and it’s sad to see the Antelope Valley not reach a fuller potential. I graduated high school 10 years ago and most of my fellow graduates and peers have left not only the Antelope Valley but California altogether. Lancaster is not only the dead end of Los Angeles County geographically wise, but its a dead end opportunity wise aswell if you’re not in the aerospace industry. Job availability is EXTREMELY scarce and a lot of people are forced to commute into Los Angeles, San Fernando and Santa Clarita for employment such as myself. Life here just stands still, it’s very difficult to progress here, hence why almost everyone I know is now gone. Gen Z is also following Gen Y right out of the A.V. and California altogether aswell. These generations are leading the mass California exodus. I wouldn’t recommend anyone move here unless you’re already established financially, are retired or don’t mind long commutes to and from work into Los Angeles everyday. Currently & sadly the Antelope Valley and California at large are becoming a lost cause. It pains me to say that because I love CA.
