      @@poysgamingtipsandtutorial661 it looks like the closest guitar to this one that Jackson sells is the SL3X DX. It’s not in the Gun Metal Gray, it’s Silver and it’s $849.00. You would have to keep an eye on the used market if you want the exact one like mine. They periodically pop up in Guitar Center and on Musicians Friend website.

    what are the measurements of the wood block you need, or are the measurements different for different guitars?

    • @RickGarzaGuitar
      @RickGarzaGuitar หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s slightly different for each guitar. My Jacksons are all similar, but my fender is different. I just used a stack of quarters and tape to make a rough block that kept the bridge level, then used the thickness of the quarters as a guide for the block. Once the block was made it has always been easy to tune.

      That is one Floyd I don’t have, but I’ve heard they are pretty good. I’m not heavy on my trems, so I don’t tend to see a lot of what I hear. This was as much an experiment for myself as for the viewer.

    FR Specials and "Jackson by Floyd Rose" are the same bridges, just rebranded, all this "brand by Floyd Rose" type of bridges are rebranded FR specials, a big given are the blocks that have the genuine FR logo branded on it. I think the "original" FR special performing worse than the rebranded one are variations on the manufacturing process and a lack of QA since they are the cheapest ones made with weaker material, ppl online have comments going from those are the coming of Satan on earth by how trash they are to pretty usable and having them stock for years without any problem whatsoever, which support my before mention lack of QA theory, some of 'em might come good, and others might come real bad. The on on my JS32 is pretty solid, no problems even with me doing some pretty wild squeals and dive bombs on it, the only stuff i'm changing on mine are the saddles and the block that are made out of zinc and not that good, but the base plate is pretty solid, plus i like it how it looks having that black glossy finish with the Jackson brand on it.

    • @RickGarzaGuitar
      @RickGarzaGuitar หลายเดือนก่อน

      The only thing I’m not a fan of with the FR Specials is the term mount. It comes loose after a a few uses and needs to be retightened after a song or two. The Gotoh is a slide in like the Original and 1500.

    About the floyd rose special, the coil gave out on the low e string. That is a problem with all floyds because of the 90 degree bent. No? Happens on mine if you pull up to much. Just one of those things.

    • @StrongHandsColdBands
      @StrongHandsColdBands 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @RickGarzaGuitar I like your question, respectfully ofcoarse. Just personal opinion mostly. Too mellow tonally. I'm not a fan of soft woods. Accidents happen , nor is it a good application for heavy loads. "String tension" it may have no effect, but I personally don't trust it. Not to mention the high potential from a shorts duration of use for finishes to wear off easily from basswood. And that thing costs a pretty penny. So, from experience with prior basswood models I've purchased, it was like a piece of very high density poplar. But my application and experience my differ. I mean, a really mild bump flaked my paint and left a dent. And lastly, just principle. Makes my brain feel good when I can feel some weight. Premium Price = Master material I do want that guitar but it's a little disheartening for me. I'd like mahogany or hard ash. it's hard to beat Jeff's old schecter build quality.

    It takes guts to try this, so hat’s off to you! In the video you said the stain came off the inlays. The Before/After pic shows the inlays are now much darker. I guess the best practice would be to tape them off as good as possible from the start, or else remove them before the process and install afterward. I bet that second option would be expensive, though.

    • @RickGarzaGuitar
