    Good video. It's really important and you don't see it mentioned much at all in other brake videos, to make sure those pads move completely free within the brackets. They should slap right in or pull right out, absolutely no resistance. And don't forget to always torque your wheel back on.

    Frameless and shameless The jeep WJ is a great vehicle to start off roading in Super simple and they just work great A small lift some good traction tires and your set for some fun On Those rubber spring isolators on your driver side could’ve been an issue from actual gas fumes As far as the rust goes if you have any thoughts of making it last you need to cut out any and all rusted Parts and replace them and hit them with some good rust paint Simply brushing it off and covering it up will only make it worse and the rust effected areas will grow To the point you’re whole patch falls off I recently did some upgrades on my WJ With Core 4x4 links BDS variable rate coil springs about a 3 inch lift. I had warped rotors after 1 month of having a local shop have the truck for a few hours. Since the rotors were scraped out, I kept the pads which the mechanic asked if I wanted them back. I took them, and I’m wondering on my upcoming brake replacement, if I can reuse those 1-month old pads. Won’t those pads eventually conform to the brand new rotor? I see in your video that you are reusing the old pads as well unless I missed something?

    • @HeiseyMotors
      @HeiseyMotors 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Agentops19 pads are cheap enough I would just replace them. I think we eventually replaced these after I had to go back through them again. Depending on the vehicle weight, I would also recommend going ceramic. The ceramic brakes don't seem to heat up as much as the semi metallic and tends to leave the rotors in better shape. It inhibits braking power a little bit, but less wear and tear on the rotors which are the expensive thing to replace.

    Nice WJ. Noticed that the transfer case seems to be using ATF. That's not the correct fluid for that transfer case, mopar 05016796AB or other Oil that complies with MS-10216 should be used, or improper operation and premature failure will occur. You should also check the power steering reservoir as the pump also uses a special fluid, Mopar 04883077 Hydraulic fluid or other that complies with MS-5931. If the correct fluid is not used it will prematurely damage the power steering and the hydraulic fan.

    Warping is the result of changes in the dimensions of regions of the metal or a change in the shape due to thermoplasticity. Most of the time, a rotor is not warped but is worn irregularly for some reason. Unfortunately, the only way to tell for sure is to get the rotor turned and see if the irregularity comes back. I suspect a rotor, once warped, will not hold a shape. Warping means a weakened structure. Uneven wear does not.

    @duhwolf6413 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Runout on rotors is caused by excessive heat. A strong contributing factor is lug nut torque. If a lug nut is over torqued and excessive heat happens then it will bend the rotor the same as any heated metal resulting in runout beyond specs. The explanation in this video is about DTV but it all boils down to runout. Without actually doing a runout measurement and then caliper the rotor at max and min runout the DTV can't be verified.

  • @v60polestar88

    • @mfr5725
      @mfr5725 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sometimes brake rotors can feel warped if you make a hard stop and heat transfers pad material from the pad to the rotor. Yes, they need to slide. You can do a bedding procedure to see if it's just material transfered from a hard stop or if the rotors are truly warped.

  • @richeyrich2203
    @richeyrich2203 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Now, I’m not quite sure how that would cause a rotor to warp out of true. I’ve always had solid rotors warp on heavy vehicles after coming out of mountain passes. You spend a lot of time on the brakes, heating them up, and then come to a stop on the rotor and a little bit of it out of true from the rest of it.

    • @HeiseyMotors
      @HeiseyMotors 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because if your brakes fail to slide in and out of the calipers correctly from the caliper slides or when your pads slide on the metal, it causes high and low spots on the rotors causing uneven braking and then shaking in the tires and wheels when braking from the uneven applied pressure

      @HeiseyMotors u wrong buddy. Brake disc only get warped do to long braking or bad driving habit... if u spend with ur foot on the brake 99% of the time braking constaly create heat on disc and overheating the disc making them get warped. 🤦 I change so many brakes. Thousands. I guess this is ur first couple brakes u have changed.

      Google the definition of warped. I said nothing that wasn't correct here

    Try with the pump closer to the tank? They are a push type pump not pull.

      For short term pumping it's irrelevant. Didn't make a difference. Part two coming

    Cool vehicle. They have visually been a favorite of mine. The poor MPG has certainly put me off, not to mention I don't think it would be a reliable daily. The only thing that keeps coming to me with the fuel issue is perhaps a collapsed fuel line? It is just a guess, but maybe try shooting some compressed air through the line and see if it is fully clear of debris. I just watched another revival video recently where there was an unseen inline fuel filter causing a restriction. Once they cut it out the vehicle ran much better.

      All coming in part two. Still currently trying to solve it still. Part of me is thinking that fuel pump is junk, the other part thinking it's a collapsed line, although most of it is actually hard line that runs up to the tank so

    A lot of work to get it running, but I'm sure Jeff would be proud. Keep it up!
