Obligated? Are Australian aboriginal land councils obligated in any way to pay tax? Do the councils have taxation obligations either directly or indirectly? And what about aboriginal corporations? Do native title holders pay their fair share of tax? Some native title holders receive royalties from land use and some also receive lease payments for issued land leases. Royalties and lease payments received are classed as taxable income. But do native title holders pay tax on income derived from the use of their native titled land? Native title holders now own up to 55% of the Australian land mass but contribute nothing towards cost of defence to defend their land. Native title land and taxation and tax obligations should be put on the public table for discussion. A native title land tax would be appropriate to help offset the $millions and $billions of taxpayers monies being spent annually in support of indigenous peoples. 🇦🇺💯%
