Lightbox Tutorial v2 (How To Make Lamps In Reverse)
Hey yall, I wanted to upload a new video on how to make LED Lightboxes in reverse so that way if that first layer messes up you don't waste near as much material. This video shows you how to make it where the backplate has all the depth and the front plate has the lip to fit in the backplate. This is how I design all my new lightboxes and I've saved a ton of filament in the process. I also go into detail about a few things and show you my updated settings for lightbox 3D printing.
Enjoy!

    does the front plate snap in the back plate or do you have to glue the front plate to the back?

    I'm trying to add a cut to the bottom of a circle, but every time I create a new sketch and draw the 2 point rectangle It is creating it in the middle of the object instead of at the bottom of the object. Is there a way to create a sketch at the base of the circle? Thanks!

    th-cam.com/video/g1DlOsdNNjs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8ONmLsk6EKDvmd7i I made a video how I do them. i say usb alot when referring to the rectangle for the led lights. but thought id show You how i do it. Theres no right or wrong way. we all do them different. Notice how I sketch the led hole in the center by using center rectangle. ttyl.

    Good video. Easy to follow and replicate with my own designs. Both your videos were good. Thanks for sharing.

    ok so i followed step by step and found it pretty easy to do. now i just sliced my model and it says i have empty layers between 0 and 0.82 and wont be able to print. do you have any idea where i went wrong or what i can do to fix it?

    Hello Cody, thanks for sharing the knowledge. I tried my first one LED by your steps, but i have an issue that a single objects do not touch each other, means that in you cal like all letters you have stayed separated from frame. CAn you advice what went wrong, what to change and where. It look that there is small empty space between a bodies, in detail zoom.

    Still watching. You made the box 250 then offset 10 outwards. Making the box 260. 😂

  • @dugy40
    @dugy40 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You’re wasting time. View? Hiding things that don’t need hid. You don’t have to do that. Otherwise you’re doing good. Haha. 250x250? Why? Just make one 240. Making to 250 and an offset is a waste. Just do 240. I’ve been doing this a long time.

  • @dugy40
    @dugy40 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You don’t have to hide all that. Just click back. Save as mesh. Trust me. If you say I am wrong I will make a video proving it.

    Nicely done. When doing the colouring or filament assignment it's easier to just use the objects tab and then assign teh colour there. Don't need to paint of fill it assigns the colour because it's easy as you named it the colour it should be. Way faster when you have a lot of parts.

    this really isnt the proper way to make these as the light face is very flimsy and need a separate solid white body behind them for support. but a great starter tutorial. your a natural at instruction

    What do you use for the hardware of the lamps? Any links to stuff you use from Amazon, etc? I haven't found anything LED that didn't have a switch issue or lighting. :)

    Next time, create a new body folder under the BODIES tab, label it whatever color you want, and then drag all of the sub-body colors into that label. Then you can just drag the APPEARANCE color to that one body tab and all of the sub-labels should change to that color at the same time. So in reality, you would have one white label and one black label with a bunch of sub-bodies under each of those.

    Hey do You print with doors open or closed?

    • @CodyInbody3
      @CodyInbody3 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Doors closed always even with PLA. Your prints will stick to the bed better without the room temperature affecting it.

    Awesome Video. I've watched several times following along step by step. I'm not a Fusion expert, but I think one of the extrusion commands is intended different than you are using. in the extrusion Start You have 3 options 1.Profile Plane (meaning it starts at the Profile plane, or the sketch's plane) 2. Offset (meaning you can enter an offset distance from the profile plane) 3. Object (Meaning you can pick an object to get the start plane, but you can also offset from that object. I think you are adding an offset, but not selecting an object and its defaulting to the current sketch plane. I think it's working fine in this situation, but the intended use is that you just use offset.) Just wanted to share incase it helps you at any point. Thanks again.

    First off thank you for this great video! You said you wipe after the first layer. Is that to get any strings? I am guessing you pause the machine or time it between the color swaps.

    • @CodyInbody3
      @CodyInbody3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do it while its printing or changing that first color. I only pause it if there's one I cant get and need more time. But thank you for the kind words!

    Wow, this was great to watch. I feel both empowered and overwhelmed :) The settings you used for the filament made me wonder, how did you come to those conclusions? I know it was experimenting mostly probably and experience but engineer mind within me wondering how each one of those settings may affect one another, and if I should be constantly worried about those even for the Bambu filaments? BTW, thanks for showing the fan controls, I was asking that in the Bambu group, it drives me nutz I turn of the Aux fan, it tuns it back on, I was wondering how to keep it off or control it, makes more sense now that it is based on the filament. So if you are using multiple types of filaments in one print i.e. Bambu Silk, Matte, Basic, CF, etc, how would we go about on those settings?

    • @CodyInbody3
      @CodyInbody3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I only dialed in the PLA settings. I've printed other types of filament but not on lamps. I've printed thousands of lamps for my business and just personal projects for family gifts but you're correct. It's just trial and error. The print profiles I upload on the models I design on Makerworld all have my newest settings with a 95% success rate. They are a tad different than what's in this video.

    how do you do it if the svg you have doesn’t already have a border?

    • @CodyInbody3
      @CodyInbody3 ปีที่แล้ว

      two ways. You can either add a two point triangle or a circle in when your on the sketch where you added the svg or before the the file is turned to an svg, open the paint app like I show in this video and insert the image from a file onto the paint board and then add a circular rectangle or a circle around the image, then convert it to an svg in an online convert and then you'll have a border to offset. Hope this helps!

    Thank you. Is there a reason why you wouldn't just do the text right in Fusion? Just curious why you use paint first and them convert? Fusion has a text option in edit sketch.

    • @CodyInbody3
      @CodyInbody3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just another option you can use. You can also add text in bambu studio too.

      Those LED's have a sticky backside and I wrap it around the inside and make a complete loop back to itself and it sticks to the sides.
