Seeing all these 11-14 year old comments is really crazy to me, how long I’d been missing out on something so special. How we have all experienced this at totally different points in time, like a touchstone, and similarly felt how powerful it is.
Anyone know where to find more music like this, I’ve searched through all of Radiohead, Jonny G and Thom Yorke’s work, but this kind of symphony arrangement where it’s almost like organic electronic music
I wish this was this was actually realesed. It is my favorite song from Thome York. The best rendition. The best. The most beautiful. So beautiful, It breaks my heart.
This version is nice, but its nowhere near as good as the album version. It feels very empty and like its missing something, and while the climax is still great, its nowhere near as powerful or emotional as the album version. Its easy to assume that they made it a more traditional rock song out of laziness or as an act of making the song more accessible, but its obvious to me that they did it because they knew it would better the song, not as an act of dumbing it down. I get really liking this version and being fascinated about original vision for the song, but I don't know how you can convince yourself that it's superior
Don't know who you are addressing but essentially all these assertions boil down to is a subjective opinion that one is more 'powerful or emotional'. People can find that to be true of either version. And while it might be wrong to assume they chose to make the album version more accessible, it is, regardless of what creative decisions were made. The fact is some people find the polymetric rhythms difficult to absorb while others have an ear for it. On the album version it is far more grounded in common time, this version is more transcendent - People can have different experiences or preferences with either.

that trumpet part from about 5:00 to the end is insanely technically difficult to pull off, massive props to the musicians and to the orchestration

This version sounds more like a video game soundtrack then an art rock song
It's got those 80s video game Let Down Ok Computer vibes
Musical geniuses must play air keyboards while singing.
