# 36. Improve Mandarin Listening and Speaking with Mulan — HSK listening — Speak Chinese Mandarin
-- Support from Handy Mandarin (Shanghai) --
When you read Chinese news or watch Chinese movies and TV shows, without an English translation, you feel it is difficult to fully understand. In addition to the influence of vocabulary and speech speed, using many longer sentences in complex topic discussions is the main obstacle to your understanding. Because complex Chinese expressions are often a collection of the most basic ways of thinking. If an expression does not conform to the most common logic, it will gradually be eliminated over thousands of years of evolution. And the various expressions we are still using today are the most in line with people's common ways of thinking, so they are very smooth to use. To clarify Chinese grammar, we reveal the way Chinese people think, then you will feel very easy to understand and can quickly apply them to daily communication.
Today I will also teach you two advanced Chinese grammar. They are very common in HSK level 4 and above exams. They are also widely used in movies, television, news reporting, and professional discussions. If you master these two grammars, I believe your listening and speaking skills will improve a lot.
We hope to hear your ideas and create more helpful content to support your Chinese listening and speaking practice. We will take every suggestion seriously and apply it to the video. Please leave the words here or email to info@handymandarin.com

Thanks again for making these excellent videos. They help me a lot. May I make a suggestion? When the answers are given, could you write the English under the question as well as under the answer? For example: at time stamp1:00:30 it would REALLY help me if there was English translation under the black question characters like there is under the orange answer characters.

Thank you so much for taking this approach! It's going to be of enormous help in reaching my goal of being able to read books in Mandarin without having to always rely on translations. I think it's extremely important to be able understand the nuances of texts as written in their original language, because when you do the meaning offers you so much more insight into the culture. Thank you again for all your hard work!

Hello, I just ran into your channel and I really like it, exactly what I was looking for (not too difficult or too easy) :) I am wondering though, would it be possible to have the dialogues in Chinese and have the Pinyin during the 3rd listenning (with or without the English translation), it would be very useful to study and understand the characters/words that I personnaly didn't quite understand during the previous listennings. Thanks for the video, I'll definitively go check the other ones! PS: definitively continue the introduction with the video from douyin, it's a very good idea
