Retired LEO here. Crown Vic is the GOAT police vehicle. EVER. And that light was for doing paperwork. We'd take blue or pink paper to diffuse it in case it was too bright. This helped night vision just a little.

They had that so there different modes ones white other is red the red is for cops don't lose there night vision when going out in the dark

The light is better placed for paper work. Simple bulb, color optional. It is after market.

Next car I’m looking for will be a 96 impala SS or Buick regal, grand national (hopefully a GNX) but I’m looking for those super expensive low mileage cars.
