    I say stop tipping altogether. This is a problem between restaurants and their employees. Ban me all they want, I refuse to tip. "That just makes you an asshole." Ok, now what? I'm the ahole for realizing the price of my mean doesn't change the quality of service? Oh sorry, I didn't know a sandwich was worth an extra 6 bucks because inflation built by a knob head making life for everyone is now suddenly my sole responsibility. Restaurants waste so much food, burn up so much electricity, and take up a massive amount of space, it's rather embarrassing.

    $2.13 the hour. That's how much is paid to servers in my state. Minimum wage has gone up but servers are still getting paid dirt. So, yeah..if you go to a restaurant and get great service at the very least you should be tipping 18%. If you aren't a tipper and you frequent the restaurant quite often, you will be remembered and you won't get as good service but you won't be banned.

      @gabbywolfgang1385 you'ld be surprised, have you ever worked in a small town? Some jobs can't afford to let even the worst workers go or they'll have no staff. And you wouldn't visit a resteraunt again if you got bad service and were forced to tip because you would have no idea if they fired the waiter or waitress because you as a customer have already decided not to go again. Overall a bad idea for businesses to force a tip or charge extra for you to be waited on. Where I currently work pays everyone evenly whether you make the food or serve it and it works perfectly.

    As an American, it is not my fault that restaurant workers are apparently incapable of negotiating on their own behalf 😂 It's not a solution to the problem to make me, the customer, subsidize their wages after I've already paid for my food. Imagine if chefs got paid like shit and expected everyone who eats their food to leave them a tip 😂 its always the wait staff doing the easiest job. The dishpit employees rarely bitch and moan 😊

    • @quinnmarchese6313
      @quinnmarchese6313 ปีที่แล้ว

      ... chefs do get payed shit unless they're private or their restaurant does fucking gangbusters, and a good chunk of the tips you pay to wait staff gets payed out to kitchen staff. maybe instead of seeing a problem and going "eh, not mine to deal with", you just call a little more attention to it. most of us arent in the industry by choice and if there is even a whiff of unionization talk, most corporate-owned restaurants will just fire you and take a day or two's losses because not only can they afford it and have "at-will" employment laws to support them, there is an army of high schoolers looking for a bit of pocket money or college kids willing to take your position within days, if not hours. The thing that people like you never seem to grasp is that we're not asking for shitloads of money and the ability to afford every little desire we have, its that all we want is enough after a 40 hour work week to pay rent, eat enough food to not go hungry, have a little entertainment, and enough to put away just a little bit in savings. When my car breaks down, or i get sick and need the doctor, that can drain all of my money and put me in a precarious position. you'll hear stories of people forgoing important medication, not going to the doctor until they physically can't move anymore, and even then, forgoing emergency transportation because an ambulance can cost almost 10k. when you work for a place like Chili's, the corporation that owns them can easily afford to grant its employees a little more security and it just DOESN'T.

      @@DeusVivit absolutely we shouldn't need to tip and pay that extra bit; it does vary where i am, but this is America, where regular minimum is designed to keep you well below the poverty line, not to mention most states do lower tipped minimums. At least you do 15 as standard and don't seem like the kind of person to not tip at all. i used to live in a state where tipped minimum was the same as regular minimum (both were like 11.something) but now i live in a place where its not the same, and i know how "on your feet" you have to be when managing even just 10 or so tables at a time so i feel some responsibility to tip well and be like "i get it". At the same time, i also am a somewhat a pushover customer, i wont raise a stink to avoid being someones Karen, but i wont just eat the wrong meal. i know how to cook after having working BOH for many years so i dont eat out more than 1-2 times a month and want it to be worth it, but i also know that regardless of how well i behave, a bad customer is infinitely more memorable than a good one and just try not to be that. i've never understood the "if you can't tip 15 percent, dont tip at all" mentality from some servers because any tip is a choice from the customer and having been (and still pretty much am) poor, i know that you just dont always have the ability to tip 20 or even 15 percent, but those assholes who dont tip even when they can, can go right to hell

    The actual tipping rule is start at 10% and increase or decrease based on service and how the food and atmosphere of the restaurant. As someone who is a tipped employee I do get disappointed when I'm tipped low or not at all. It means that either I failed or the restaurant failed.

      the ACTUAL actual tipping rule is 15 percent minimum. going below that, unless its an easy rounding (like just 3 bucks instead of 3.15 or something), is just an asshole move, regardless of how you felt about your service. @@PritchardsWindowCleaning American wait staff are incredibly underpaid and over taxed, often making half the minimum wage and losing 1/3 of their paychecks to taxes. Many live off of tips more than anything else and tipping becomes a matter of livelihood not just courtesy.
