@@Virjunior01 pretty much, a spiritual successor to studio gainax would be studio trigger. but story and animation wise, nothing seems to even come close nowadays; style over substance, story vs animation debaters adding fuel to endless criticisms.

Diebuster is he equivalent of the big budget sequels but none of the charm or style of the originals we always criticize hollywood for doing, why would this be different? Its as generic as you can get, same with the mecha designs and the story is just invasion #2, the ending is chaming tho but still transformers 2 is not a good movie just because the forest battle was epic. Maybe if gainax did it better it wouldn't be dead right now.

I really don't know how else to tell you if you didn't feel the same emotional connection with the characters and bawl at the finale like last time, or of you grasp at straws to call the new visual style generic, you either just don't have a soul or are really stupid.

Clannad After Story

Here is lesser known lore between gunbuster and diebuster, like in 2048-2100: Next Generation Light Novel begins here Buster Machine 3 is built. Debate over whether or not to leave the earth begins. Gunbuster Episode 6. The half that want to leave earth do so, and colonize Sirius. Remnants of an alien civilization discovered. The 'Sirius Alliance' is formed and wants freedom from the overall Human Empire. Thanks to the ancient aliens they discovered Energy of the Spiri Sirius Alliance figures out how to weaponize it. They no longer need computers Earth refuses independence as they ran out of resources in the war with the Space Monsters, plans 'violent crackdown'. Earth starts with a tech and numbers advantage, but has no industrial capacity anymore. Presumably, they build Nono here, as the last weapon created on earth with pre-Sirius War tech. Sirius War begins. 2100-2480 Earth is losing war; both sides have undergone a massive tech slide. Jung Freud and the Eltrium Fleet come back the earth Empire tries to order them order them around but they overthrow the Earth Empire and establish a federation. Jung is elected president of Earth shes a called the hero of all humanity. clones of Kazumi Amano, Noriko Takaya, drive the sizzler against Sirius Alliance Ceasefire is called. Accepted. Mission to retrieve the Gunbuster is launched. Fails as humanity can no longer understand the pre-war tech to do so. Jung enters cryo sleep, a mass scramble to recover pre-war tech begins, s War restarts. 2480-14292 Sirius War has stalemated. Earth discovers an old Super-Excelion. Produces Two 'Werutoriumu' class ships based on it. Next Generation Manga begins here. The 'Great Attractor', a being claiming to be God, attacks the Sirius System. Begins drawing in all of the particles in the universe towards it. Jung reawakened, leads fleet consisting of the two Werutoriumus, and Buster Machines 4 and 5, built with pre-war tech, to fight it. Buster Machine 7 is not noted, as she wasn't thought up here. 6 doesn't show up for similar reasons. No one knows because manga and the light novels were canceled. Warp Tech sealed away at some point here Then Diebuster happens

Turns out the alien robots are actually ancient Earth's defense system that was set in place to protect humanity from alien psychic monsters outside (like the one in the video) that act as an immune system for the universe. Humanity lost the tech to replicate it but The girl with the pink hair is actually an Android and the ultimate Defense system.

物理学的にニヤリとできる演出よりも、星ごと切ったのが分かりやすくし、さらに「そうはならんやろ」「なっとるやろがい」とツッコミ出来る演出の方が観て面白いからな。

She's a robot. Not only do we not know if she has a internal skeleton, the laser batteries are wider than her legs, so don't know if they fold up, or are a result of spacial folding to increase her internal volume.

Why would you build a skeleton inside a robot?

@@Michael-bn1oi How else do you get them to stand up? Seriously, though, less a skeleton, and more of an internal frame that the pistons and whatnot attach to, covered with armor or something flesh-like. Basically, a chassis.

​@@Pepper-Zeeyou have to understand why, I saw it as a part of the anime boom that happened in the west during the 90s and it was the first time I had ever seen animation used to tell an intellectually grown up (yes it has silly moments, yes it has fan fiction, but aside from the "super robo*" elements of the story what you have is both a story about personal growth and personal loss interwoven into, for it's day and especially considering the medium, a pretty well done "hard sci fi**" story. That in combination with the passion and attention to detail that went into the animation made it stand out as not only a piece of art, but a shining example of what you are able to achieve with animation. I would also like to add that despite the west going through the first anime explosion, it's worth remembering that it was ultimately a small thing for the time and the resounding attitude in the west that "cartoons are for children" would not begin to change for some time yet.

I will never like it as much. There's just do much that'd MISSING.

The director of Gurren Lagann worked for Gainax, and worked on this series. The director of this series also worked on Gurren Lagann. Basically the same people who made it.

you have to really squint your ears, the upward I-IV is a staple of many marches ackshually
