    Im wondering if its so hard to keep two females together or two males and they have to be spayed anyways. Why not choose male and a female? Or would that be the same situation?

    • @MatthewKGarr
      @MatthewKGarr 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because its easier to get a young rabbit, but you cant tell the gender of the rabbit until several months old. Lots of people get a second rabbit and then find out they're the same gender

    In my experience it's better to pair a male & a female rabbit together. Never had a problem in 35 years of 'Wild Rabbits, Hoppin' 'round the house' 😉

    We have two bunnies we are trying to bond. One is a female holland lop and the other is a female lion head. We have been doing table bonding, and the lop is grooming the lion head, but then she will start to mount. Any ideas to stop this? And will the lion head groom the lop eventually?

    • @DaniCavenderHandley
      @DaniCavenderHandley 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mounting can be a bonding behaviour and therefore just let it happen. However if the pair aren’t spayed (even though they’re the same sex) then you will really struggle. I’d strongly advise you stop trying to bind them until both spayed and then try again 2 months after the surgery. If they’re already spayed and therefore there isn’t a hormonal driver for it, just let it happen - it can be a dominance behaviour. I’d only intervene if the other bunny is distressed by it or if she’s humping the other bunny’s head. It can happen and no one wants a bite on the undercarriage!

    After 5 years of sister bunny ownership, I am struggling to rebond since June 2023. It is now Nov 2023. I have always been successful in rebonding them within a matter of days or weeks. This video has really helped me with knowing I need to be leaving them for longer in the smaller spaces. It just feels so wrong to keep them I a small space but I know it is for their good. They're indoor bunnies and my little angels. I'm on the verge of giving them to a pro bonder not far from us for 1 week but just want to try one last time myself. I had a pet water bottle (like the ones usually used for hamsters etc) that I offered them by hand. It wasn’t a problem - they were happy to drink from it. If yours aren’t willing to drink from a bottle, you could offer a small ramekin of water every hour or so.

    Okay thanks for this... My problem is a rather difficult one.. Mom and Dad are fine. She had babies, and we took in 2 of the little ones. Now the issue is that both mom and dad doesn't care whether they were their little ones, it's snapping and nipping at them. Mum and dad are fixed, little ones still need to be fixed. I have a feeling bonding the 2 small ones with mum and dad, is going to be very very difficult.. any advice on this?

    • @jayladixon6729
      @jayladixon6729 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was in your exact situation! My four rabbits (spayed mom, neutered dad, and 2 unfixed babies) the oarebts were fine but they didn’t start getting along until I spayed the babies. I think they partent could smell their hormones and it made them aggressive but once that was resolved I started with 24/7 table bonding on a small nightstand and slowly worked up to the desk then the kitchen table and so on. I couldn’t do it in a cage because they were all free roam and any sort of walls around them made them anxious and aggressive. All four of them were grooming and flopping by day 7!

These are my 8 year old daughters rabbits, she knows plenty about rabbits, but ill need to be around to try this bonding process after about a month after they have been fixed. I hope mine is as quick as yours in terms of Bond. Out of interest sake, did you have both mom, dad and the 2 small ones on the table, and what technique or process did you use? did you hold them down, lay them next to each other while holding them etc

    • @ari4340
      @ari4340 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but it's our fault because we put them in very unnatural situations (for example being completly alone and then having to meet a rabbit, in nature they would have never been alone to begin with) and many things like that... we create the complicated situation for them sadly 😅

They are brother and sister but after we got the whole lot spayed and neutered is when we had all sorts of problems!! My boy got a tore lip either from their fur fight or from when we were trying to kennel one while the other was free. Hard sad lesson. This is painful but rehoming will never be an option for us either. I can’t wait to be big happy family again. I'm bonding two males and they're in a space the size of your cage, both have litter boxes and do share the same water and food bowl. They flop and are relaxed as well as get treats, but do have bouts of aggression. Whenever one goes to lay next to the other in their box there's a bit of chasing, but only until the other one leaves the box. I did have some boxing, but they stopped when I said No, to them. We are on day 1.5, I read that if you separate after a fight then they'll remember the fight and you don't want that. They don't pull fur or nip anymore so, I guess that's good.

    Take a look at a product called Peelaway 1 and Peelaway 7. Brilliant if you live in an older Victorian house with multiple layers of paint. Warning the lower layers of paint may contain lead so not ideal for sanding or heat guns. The peel away product is a poultice you put on cover and leave then…… peel away. Hope this helps.

    Hi! Hopefully you’ll read my questions before I start rebonding. I’m in the same situation right now. I have 2 male rabbits. Found out at the vet. Everyone says that the two will never get along anymore. Rehoming is not a solution for us. Both are 5 months and fixed. Last one got fixed 2 weeks ago. I have seen your video a couple of time now. The more I see the more I understand. But 1 thing remains unclear for me. When the bunny’s are ready to go back tot their enclosure (where they used to live) do I have to renew the things? For example they have a thick kind of doormat to walk/sleep on. Should buy new ones? I have to clean the entire area with vinegar. Diluted? If I take them for a ride. What if a fight breaks out in the box itself? This freaks me out although I also think that they might be so stressed and distracted that a fight might not even pop up. And last but not least: thank you! This video is a guideline for me!!

    I would appreciate any insight/advice: I have 2 lops that are about a year & a half, both spayed. They’ve had 2 prior fight and rebondings. They lived separately in x-pens next to one another for months and seemed content- would kiss and cuddle through the bars so I decided to try another rebond session. I had them in a neutral territory and 24/7 bonded them for a week. They were absolutely perfect: sharing food & grooming and cuddling, so I moved them back in to where their permanent home would be. I sanitized the area and sprayed everything with vinegar water. 3 days together and still doing great. I left to run errands and came back hrs later to them cuddling but there was a mess of fur all over the enclosure. Upon inspection, one had bite marks and some bald patches on her back that I put a little neosporin on. I am at a loss and don’t really know how to move forward with them. For now they will be in separate xpens again until the wounds heal up. I’m not sure if I should jump back in trying to bond them again straight away. I have them on my lap together as I type this but I could really use some help w/ what I can maybe try next or any advice from people with similar experiences. I know they love each other and I want them to be as happy as possible <3

      Update: due to my job I haven't been able to work with them 24/7 like this, but with weekends and any off time I have, I've been keeping them together as much as possible. They've been getting to go grocery shopping with us and sleep in the pen I set up next to the bed. As of yesterday (6/6/22), I have moved them into the livingroom and expanded their pen a bit more. They are doing very well and went a whole night without needing supervision. I can tell it's not fully there yet but it's a great improvement.

    Hi, I’m trying bond my rabbits. My female, Hope has been very aggressive towards my male, Harry. Before I had gotten Harry, hope was bonded with another rabbit, Stella, until he passed away. I didn’t bring the body home because I was too upset and it was my first pet death. I know she’s been aggressive because of that. So here comes Harry. She will put her head down for him in the front but will bite his back side. Of course he starts to fight back and I break it up right away. Recently she had bit his ear very hard causing an injury on Harry. I’m not sure where to go from here to get them bonded. Any advice?
