New Factor Ostro VAM 2024 “naked” review.
มุมมอง 20K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
I have been riding the new bike and felt I wanted to share a quick update from my experience. It’s a sh*tty production but might be of interest to some. I also need to be transparent and let you know that I am a Factor dealer in Sweden.
Ese dia me cruce con la bici contigo. Creo q fue en la carretera de la Roca. Por cierto, me e comprado una factor vam, como la tuya 😂
Those wheels are whack but otherwise an amazing looking bike
Hi thanks for this review I could understand that this bike is size 54, How tall are you?, I ‘m 1,84 cm and 88 cm legs , I want to buy this bike but I Have in doubt between size 56 or 58, what do you recommend me from your side? Regards
Hi I’m 178 cm. I sit on 73,5cm. I have no idea what my inseam is 😄 what bikes are you riding now? Or have ridden? You should look and compare at geometry geeks. Spontaneously I’d say go for 56. Mostly because I prefer an aggressive fit. But I can’t really recommend a size before i know what bike you have had before, how you ride and if you have any issues on the bike. Where do you live?
Very nice review. I'm currently looking to buy a new road bike and can't decide between the Cervelo S5 and the Factor Ostro. The geometry of both bikes is the same. Cervelo just has a good reputation in the bike industry and you generally hear less about Factor. The Factor is interesting from the stats alone. I've already ridden the S5 and it was a weapon... I would really like to have a comparison with the Factor, unfortunately there is no dealer in the area who allows a test ride. Can you give an opinion?
@@Nilex1994 Hi I have no experience in the Cervelo unfortunately. So can’t advice in this case. All I can say is that you won’t be disappointed if you go with the new Ostro. Both bikes are looking nice, even though the S5 is a bit more bold 😄
I haven't ridden an ostro but I have thousands of km on the s5. Some very very long rides, some races, a lot of hill climbs and social rides. I can say the S5 is connected, sharp, has great road feel and is responsive. However it is not forgiving, easy to ride slow, or suitable for high winds , or great for decending. Of course this is just my opinion. I would buy the s5 if you do a lot of interval training, races or want something to be inspired to push yourself. I'm also looking at buying a factor because I want something that is special, cervelo is just so popular it doesn't give me the feeling of riding something special. I'm also considering a look 795 fwiw.
How is the black inc 48 | 58 wheels?
The wheels are great. I absolutely love them. Most striking feature is stability and light weight.
My 2012 rim break trek was my favorite bike that felt apart of me and the fit was perfect, unfortunately it was taken from me.
you ride a size 54, correct? you mind me asking you how tall you are? thanks.
Yes this is a size 54. Im 178cm. I normally ride 52/54. My One is a size 52. Bike is for sale if you are interested :)
I still prefer the look of the original frame - also the new frame isn't that lightweight!
Beautiful, the greatest road bike on Earth!

Any update after a periode of riding this beautiful bike? How are the wheels?
I rode a total of almost 400km on it in Barcelona. Weather was terrible. Lots of wind and cold. But the bike was just unbelievable. I can’t say if it’s the wheels the bike or both in combination that makes the bike feel so good. I rode outside here in Sweden yesterday and did some high threshold intervals. I was flying and it felt effortless 😅 In all honesty it’s not much more you can ask of a high end bike, new Ostro has it all.
@@cyclingfactorysweden thnx! Nearly new bike day here. Looking forward to ride the Ostro Vam 2. 😃
Dat wit stuurlint vint ik.niet mooi gewoon zwart .wel De black ince letters op de wielen te op vallend Maar gelukkig smaken verschillen 😊
What tire pressure do you use for the Black Inc 48|58 wheels since it has a "Mini Hook" on the rim instead of a full size hook? Does the tire pressure have to be no higher than 73 psi (5 bar) just like on hookless wheels? I am wondering if the a Mini Hook can handle the same hire tire pressures like a normal Full Size hooked rim?
Hi I have been riding around 5 bars. The maximum recommended tire pressure is 5 bars for 28mm tires. And 28 mm is also the minimum width that you must use. I’m around 72kg at the point of making the video. I rode 4,5 bars yesterday and it feels fine. Haven’t done proper sprinting yet and don’t know if it will feel spongy, time will tell 😄
old one looks better simply because of the ostro logo and the wheels looking cleaner not with the big black inc printed on it
Thanks for your feedback. The wheels also come with black decals. I sort of like this look. It’s a bit old school.
I like this frame telaio ❤❤🚴💪🏾💪🏾
I bet that if all the guys that cop these factors rode 5 Chinese bikes and a factor they would not be able to pick out the factor if they were all white labeled for the test .
Does anyone know if Factor fixed the rear Thru-Axel problem that exists on version 1 of the Ostro VAM? Also, there are lots of posts online about the bottom bracket creaking and the headset compression plug/steer tube problem. Hopefully all of these problems have been fixed on the 2024 Ostro VAM.
Hi I haven’t really experienced any issues with the rear axle. Not in this model or the previous one. As long as you have some play in the rear derailleur hanger it’s easy to slide the axle through with some help from your hand lifting/adjusting the rear derailleur a tiny bit. I have never experienced creaking on T47 BB. Compression plug is another story. That issue is something I have came across on several Factors and unfortunately this new model as well. Making it impossible to ride without a hand on the bars. Very annoying and can’t really figure out how to solve it.
What is the problem with the compression plug?
@@rafluyten1885 General consumers and Pro Tour Teams were having major problems with not being able to tighten down the steer tube compression plug tight enough. Therefore, people had to overtighten it way past the recommended torque value just to keep it tight. As a result, the carbon steer tubes were cracking or completely breaking because there was a manufacture defect in the way the compression plug expands inside of the steer tube and also from the overtightening. Supposedly Factor starting shipping new bikes with an updated compression plug that is supposed to have fixed this problem. However, lots of people who have the older Ostro VAM and this newly released 2024 version are saying the front end of the bike is still unusually Twitchy and Unstable which is very concerning. There are several Google articles and forum posts about all of this and there are some TH-cam videos about these problems as well.
size 54 looks big. what's your height en inseam?
Im 178 cm and normally sit on 73,5cm saddle to cc on crankset. I normally go with 52 or 54. In this case a bought a 54 because it was available for quick delivery and in Sweden most people ride a size 54/56.
Nice bike! Looks great. Interesting though that with the new light wheels and with your weight saving measures it came in at7kg, (7.25kg with pedals?). Factor did say that a 6.8kg build was easy....? I do think that the new aero tweaks are good and worthwhile.
Well I guess it’s “easy” if you go with DA or full red group set . And in all honesty the scale I used is not the most reliable one. It showed 7.1kg with pedals (7,01kg without) and I know my Ultegra pedals aren’t that light 😅 I might have to invest in a better scale for the future.
@@cyclingfactorysweden Yeah I guess you need to be sure that the scale is accurate, but I do think that 6.8kg is not as 'easy' as Factor thinks.
Great and honest review, thx for sharing.
Hi, I am considering this ostro 2.0..did you weigh the frame and fork by any chance? Cheers!
Hi No unfortunately I didn’t. Bike was semi assembled with group set mounted already.
@vladipp2850 Cyclespeed Tours measured the Frame weighing 915gr. and the Fork weighed 496gr. (and that was with the Fork steer tube being slightly cut). The Seat Post weighed 213gr. Total weight for just the Frame & Fork = 1,411gr. for a size 52cm.
@@cyberx7098 cyclespeed tours was white though thats the heaviest paintjob and can add north of 100 grams for frame and fork
@@cyberx7098 cycle speed tour was a white paintjob which is the heaviest and can add to the weight of the frame and fork 100 grams ,this naked black carbon frame is the lightest option
Good review. Thanks for taking the time to post it. I know that your time on it is has been limited so far, but can you tell us how it responds when drilling it on a climb? Does it feel nimble and responsive?
It’s super responsive and nimble. I did 5 climbs today. 4 of them was “small” and one around 20 min. With this type of bike I expect it to be good at climbing and it doesn’t disappoint. I have 120km and 1850 m of altitude tomorrow.
