    Ive been a Bible Christian from the cradle. I am enjoying this book very much. To me the book is true to the man who lectured on the Exodus. And i don't believe like some that he is angry or self indulgent or elitist and too opinionated. I believe with all my heart that his own journey learning about God has given him a sense of urgency. I believe he genuinely wants to spread the good news quickly to as many who will consider it. I like that he says your beliefs should be actions not a declaration. He has always spoken about religion without relationship with God bringing about the death of God in people's lives. I hear in this book someone who wants you to discover his discoveries. Ive never felt him wanting to control. Rather i feel him concerned that we all see more, learn more, think a little higher thoughts. For our good. As he says, to be better equipped to face life and gain meaning from the adventure.

    I'm so glad that someone is actually giving a good review of this book; I've seen people already start to critique it based on really shallow philosophical arguments. JP has helped my life dramatically, and reading this book is so profound! I could not believe how much meaning he drew from simply the first chapter of genesis, and I'm still barely making my way through it because of how dense it is; I don't want to miss any of it :)

    Glad you're enjoying the books so far! A theme that always draws me in when reading is whether people can change i.e. nature versus nurture (highly recommend The First Law series if that theme appeals). Elhokar has been so weak of character up to this point in the books - I'm curious if you think the influence of Dalinar and others around him could bring about positive change in Elhokar or is he doomed to always be a hindrance for our main characters?

    Jung has opened my eyes in so many ways, and I aim to push his message to the masses by developing my ability to articulate my thoughts in a more sophisticated manner. I'm 17 right now and I strive to gain wisdom by understanding the truths of this world. May God show me and those who seek truth, the truths of this world whether mathematically, spiritually, or morally. "Seek and you shall find" -Mathew 7:7-8 (Not you might find). "I am the way the TRUTH and the life"-Jesus. And lastly, this world is a paradox in and of itself, there are things that can be explained and things that just can't be explained at all. Keep that in the back of your mind as you go throughout life. May God Bless Us All. Amen 🙏

    I've loved hearing your thoughts as you read through the book. I think Fantasy/Sci-Fi is often looked down upon as a genre (undeservedly), so it's refreshing to see someone new to the genre put so much thought into the themes and subtext throughout! Words of Radiance is my favourite of the series so far, so looking forward to your thoughts

    • @CadeChurch
      @CadeChurch หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great fiction is an abstraction of distilled truth and has the potential to narrate the nuance of human experience. Those that look down upon fiction are likely too rigid to see the richness in the subtext as you mentioned. Looking forward to Words of Radiance!

      I appreciate the feedback! One moment that stuck with me is from one of the early chapters with bridge four, where they were sitting at the edge of the chasm opening up to each other for the first time. They found themselves laughing and actually enjoying the evening despite their situation. I think I enjoyed that so much because it is so true in terms of what is actually important in life. People can withstand horrible things, but our relationships with others prevail above all else. If you read Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning, you see a similar narrative.

    hey! thank you for the part about the audiobook, thats normally how i get my "reading" in. when you were talking about how people want to be in the mood to change a behavoir it kind of reminded me about a book on your list Atomic Habits. i listened to the audiobook of that and have tried to make little changes to my life and health. the part of that book that sticks out to me is when he talks about if you want to start walking or running, even just starting with putting your shoes on, then taking them off. how even doing a small change in behavior can add up and hopefully change your mood with it. i think its great you are doing this.

    • @CadeChurch
      @CadeChurch 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment, man! Good to hear from you. That’s a great note from atomic habits. Harkens back to the saying that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. It’s often more difficult to start than it is to actually complete the activity. We suffer more in our minds than reality (Seneca) leading up to actually doing something.
