Merry Christmas, I've been getting into your book series, keep up the good work
Merry Christmas!
deepwoken
for those who want to heal their traumas read the book "Traumatic Hero by lentlish"
Without getting into spoiler territory, I'd recommend re-reading the prelude and epilogue of Way of Kings - It gives some good clues as to who has been preventing the desolations for more than 4000 years, and why they may now be returning
Can we have a chat to discuss potential improvements and address some mistakes in your channel?

Ive been a Bible Christian from the cradle. I am enjoying this book very much. To me the book is true to the man who lectured on the Exodus. And i don't believe like some that he is angry or self indulgent or elitist and too opinionated. I believe with all my heart that his own journey learning about God has given him a sense of urgency. I believe he genuinely wants to spread the good news quickly to as many who will consider it. I like that he says your beliefs should be actions not a declaration. He has always spoken about religion without relationship with God bringing about the death of God in people's lives. I hear in this book someone who wants you to discover his discoveries. Ive never felt him wanting to control. Rather i feel him concerned that we all see more, learn more, think a little higher thoughts. For our good. As he says, to be better equipped to face life and gain meaning from the adventure.
I like the anecdote at the end
Glad it landed with you!
Church is your surname? Interesting
Incredible video dude 👏 ❤
Appreciate it! 🙏
Heartfelt!
Thank you! 🙏
I'm so glad that someone is actually giving a good review of this book; I've seen people already start to critique it based on really shallow philosophical arguments. JP has helped my life dramatically, and reading this book is so profound! I could not believe how much meaning he drew from simply the first chapter of genesis, and I'm still barely making my way through it because of how dense it is; I don't want to miss any of it :)
Thank you for the comment, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the book!
Glad you're enjoying the books so far! A theme that always draws me in when reading is whether people can change i.e. nature versus nurture (highly recommend The First Law series if that theme appeals). Elhokar has been so weak of character up to this point in the books - I'm curious if you think the influence of Dalinar and others around him could bring about positive change in Elhokar or is he doomed to always be a hindrance for our main characters?
Good question, I will address that in the video on part 4!
Very good video ! What’s the background on your computer ?
It’s a Japanese garden and thank you! Glad you liked it
Good one. keep going..
Thank you, more videos coming up!
what scent is the candle?
Ha! If someone can guess, then I’ll say
@@CadeChurch i mean, i can guess all day! i want it to be coffee, leather or chocolate but... 'Summer Waterfall'? 🤣
@@CadeChurch oh, also- have you read any Eugene Gendlin? A Process Model in particular... might be up your alley.
Haha it’s alpine woods, and I have not, but thank you for the recommendation!
Great food for thought!!! Really made me think, am I stoic or do I junt not care? Both are completely different, one implies full recognition of one's circumstances and capabilities, the other one is just laziness. Thanks for the video and the book recommendations!
I appreciate the insightful comment!
Honest feedback, I like the video but the music made it so hard to follow.
Thanks for the feedback, do you feel that it is due to the type of music or the fact that there is music at all?
@@CadeChurch For me personally is the music regardless of the type. It distracts me from what you are saying. I think if you dial the volume down on the music it might be okay, now it feels like you and the music are competing for the viewer's attention. This is my opinion, maybe it's a me problem, I'm an older millenial so maybe gen-Z is okay with this style.
I still appreciate your feedback and will consider dialing back the volume on the background music. Have a great week!
@@CadeChurch You too! And keep up the good work!
Jung has opened my eyes in so many ways, and I aim to push his message to the masses by developing my ability to articulate my thoughts in a more sophisticated manner. I'm 17 right now and I strive to gain wisdom by understanding the truths of this world. May God show me and those who seek truth, the truths of this world whether mathematically, spiritually, or morally. "Seek and you shall find" -Mathew 7:7-8 (Not you might find). "I am the way the TRUTH and the life"-Jesus. And lastly, this world is a paradox in and of itself, there are things that can be explained and things that just can't be explained at all. Keep that in the back of your mind as you go throughout life. May God Bless Us All. Amen 🙏
Thanks for bringing Jung's work to this platform in this way, I definitely need to read more of his stuff!
For sure! And if there is general interest in Jung, then I can certainly provide more commentary on his work
I got the same book. It’s very insightful. I’m a layperson, but I’m interested in psychodynamics.
That’s awesome! Have to respect your curiosity to get such a niche book out of pure interest. Have you read anything else on the topic that you would suggest?
@@CadeChurch The next book I got is psychodynamic psychotherapy by author Jon Frederickson, it talks about how to Listen from Multiple perspective, I hope that helps
I've loved hearing your thoughts as you read through the book. I think Fantasy/Sci-Fi is often looked down upon as a genre (undeservedly), so it's refreshing to see someone new to the genre put so much thought into the themes and subtext throughout! Words of Radiance is my favourite of the series so far, so looking forward to your thoughts
Great fiction is an abstraction of distilled truth and has the potential to narrate the nuance of human experience. Those that look down upon fiction are likely too rigid to see the richness in the subtext as you mentioned. Looking forward to Words of Radiance!
Welp. Giving a handclap to the algorithm lol. Good video. The background lo-fi music and warm lighting is great, especially for book reviews.
Thank you for the feedback. I’m enjoying sharing my thoughts in the videos! More to come
Same here! Holy shit, this is *good* and deserves much more attention. Interesting, insightful and well-produced
Keep these coming man! Loving your analysis of psychology behind the characters and their motivations. Were there any moments in the book that you particularly loved?
I appreciate the feedback! One moment that stuck with me is from one of the early chapters with bridge four, where they were sitting at the edge of the chasm opening up to each other for the first time. They found themselves laughing and actually enjoying the evening despite their situation. I think I enjoyed that so much because it is so true in terms of what is actually important in life. People can withstand horrible things, but our relationships with others prevail above all else. If you read Viktor Frankl’s Man’s Search for Meaning, you see a similar narrative.
I'm about to start a re-read of the books before the 5th book comes out in a couple of months, and hearing your impressions of it is getting me really excited to jump back in from the beginning! Glad you're enjoying it so far
I bet you catch new things the second time around. I’m excited for the fifth book to come out, lucky timing for me!
Great book! Especially the final Act, excited to hear your thoughts. I won't give any spoilers, but I'll just say Brandon's magic and worldbuilding is generally very logical, so the different varieties of spren maybe aren't as random as they first appear.
Thanks for the comment! I look forward to learning more about how it all ties together. Just started part 2 today.
That’s Interesting! Thank You so much! 🫶🏻❤️✨
Glad you found it interesting! Thanks for the comment
hey! thank you for the part about the audiobook, thats normally how i get my "reading" in. when you were talking about how people want to be in the mood to change a behavoir it kind of reminded me about a book on your list Atomic Habits. i listened to the audiobook of that and have tried to make little changes to my life and health. the part of that book that sticks out to me is when he talks about if you want to start walking or running, even just starting with putting your shoes on, then taking them off. how even doing a small change in behavior can add up and hopefully change your mood with it. i think its great you are doing this.
Thanks for the comment, man! Good to hear from you. That’s a great note from atomic habits. Harkens back to the saying that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. It’s often more difficult to start than it is to actually complete the activity. We suffer more in our minds than reality (Seneca) leading up to actually doing something.
