    You can also fly from San Jose...depending on season it can be as little as $79 in Sansa the bus and and boat cost half of that from San Jose and literally can take you an entire days travel...so the plane ride to me is worth the money... you get great arial views...it only takes about 40 minutes so you can spend less time on buses and more time exploring.

    Not sure when this video was made, but the bus now goes straight to the riverfront town of Sierpe, no need to stop in Palmar Norte anymore. And the boat ride is $40 each, but only $20 for locals.

    How do you keep the hotel/hostel cleaning staff from going through your stuff and finding all the cash you told me to bring? I lost $500 my first day and another $400 on the beach.

    Just a few days ago we saw two juvenile Fer de Lance snakes. These snakes are ABSOLUTELY LETHAL. We saw them thanks to the guide and just besides the trail. Some of your advice is bad, but by telling people to go outside the trails you are potentially killing them by sending them to areas where invisible venomous snakes are laying around.

  • @ncjuliee
    @ncjuliee ปีที่แล้ว

    This is not great advice. The most concerning is the idea of sneaking in snacks. Please don’t do this. I know we do it in US theaters, but that’s entirely different. They are trying to preserve nature. Just don’t. It’s very hard to spot many animals without a guide. I choose not to on my last trip because I had seen a few sloths and other animals I wanted to see in La Fortuna and just wanted to go at my own pace, but I don’t think that you should tell people they will see more without a guide because that is absolutely not true. Please be responsible when giving advice.

    Don’t go off the trail! You can harm the habitat and there are poisonous snakes. The trail is there for a reason!

  • @johne1071
    @johne1071 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mostly they say don't leave the trails, because there are Tarantulas spiders living on the ground. I learned this in Guatemala. Where the guide picked up the spider . Its legs were as big as my fingers. Do not step on them.

    You don't need a guide, but they are still worth it. I've done rainforest tours with and without guides, and even though I find things on my own, guides always show a shocking amount of things that I easily would have missed. Also, you don't need shoes, but they are still worth it, especially for the protection factor.

    Not supposed to go off the designated trail because foot traffic can destroy the creatures/plants homes and the natural ecology of the jungle floor. We want to preserve the natural ecology for others that also want to also enjoy it in the future.

    That was definitely helpful and gives me a better idea of what I'll see next week. I get off the beaten trail (figuratively and literally) often when I travel, too.

    DO NOT go out of the trail!!!! We have a shit ton of venomous snakes, most of them in the pacific and as Andres said... the Terciopelo has one of the most dangerous venom in Central America, whatever the snake bites you will loose it. So don't go out of the trail, besides that.. the park is an amazing place to visit!! The beaches are amazing and us Costa Ricans are very friendly so if you need something don't hesitate to ask, just make sure the guy you are asking doesn't have like jail tattoos or looks sketchy, try to ask questions to the young people that are not as tanned as everyone else that may seem local.

    Stay away from costa Lotta.. It might be beautiful in mother nature but everything else is terrible. Food sucks, everything is over priced by atlest 200% Think about it paying a bottle of water for 4.00???? Skip this over priced country and head to everywhere but.
