I’m a finance-mined Christian who is crippled by my dreams of a prosperous life. Ha!
You see, at age 26, I turned 10K into a a couple million dollars thanks to my yolo investment returns…
And in blazing glory, I went from millionaire to $500K underwater, with nothing to show for it but “lessons learned.” Simultaneously, I co-planted a church and became a father of two - some great ways to ramp up your anxiety if you ask me! :D
Still, at 29 years old, without a job and approaching bankruptcy, I succeeded as a multi-business entrepreneur, and I live to tell the tale.
Despite my epic blunders, uncalculated zeal, and unmedicated ADHD, or maybe because of them, I create.
I write.
I coach.
I listen.
I partner.
My hope is to offer something of value to those who share in this journey of faith, fulfillment, and financial freedom. To simply be one of those who is impacting your environment for the better.
Thanks for being here :). I’m cheering you on!

Thank you, I just got called for an interview with them. I'll hard pass😂

Genuinely using this account just to comment this to stay anonymous, but I was there for 2 years. I had no network and was 20 years old, and I honestly just had to be a grinder that first year and I accidently ended up breaking a few records in the internship but my mental health had never been worse. I made about 40k probably 30 after expenses, so clearly I was a big baller lol. I expressed to management that I wanted to leave and one of them genuinely said "no". I was extremely taken back by that and somehow mistook that for them really caring about me and doing well. In reality, I think there was likely a large bonus they would have gotten when I converted to fulltime and it wouldn't have looked good if I left because I was successful. I was still very adamant about leaving, but that same week, I was told I was to give an inspiring speech about my rags to riches story in front of the new and upcoming interns. You don't get compensated at all, it's just to give back. On the way to the venue, the main person in leadership was talking to me and figuring out what would make me stay. Well after I got home that night, he sent me very long paragraphs about how proud he is of me and how I'm going to kill it and how I'm this inspiration to women and working class people basically lol. Well flash forward, he has me meet with our cfo and someone else above him and they give me a proposal (aka cash advancement or unforgivable loan) but I refer to it more as signing a deal with the devil because if I left I'd owe back a ton of money. I was so miserable and my mental health was deteriorating fast. I had close family members pass away and these people were still like "why are your numbers so bad?". The only good thing is it helped me get my job now which I love but my gosh I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. . . . Yes I'm still paying off my contract but it's somewhat empowering to leave on that note and tell them no amount of money is worth the amount of emotional damage they cause me and my family. They took me on the finest of trips, dinners, gave me gifts and gave speeches on the daily on how I'd be the one person that truly inspired everyone lol. They had pictures of me on their walls and would use my story to convince new hires to stay and every second of it felt weird. It's very cult-like. I made it out alive somehow, God-willing. To anyone reading this, please don't do this to yourself unless you really really think about it.
Thank you!! I’ve gotten licensed on my own and almost joined 2 separate big corps. My thoughts always lead to why not just start my own business doing this. :) thank you for this
@@courtneyaverill3631 you got this!! 💪
I’m 19 in college and have been considering taking a summer internship in the Chicagoland area, what are your thoughts about internships at NM?
@@jessegamboa1569 big picture it's the same job role regardless of intern vs full time, but as an intern you have an even lower upside / chance of making a career out of it, so generally speaking I wouldn't recommend it and would try to find something else. Overall though if you want to do it for the sales training or the opportunity to expand and deepen your network then I would definitely consider it. Chicago and Milwaukee are two cities with a very high density of NM clients as well so that's another aspect to consider, that the market for your products is already approaching saturated.
I just had an interview with them today for an internship LMFAO what are the odds
Glad I was able to shed some light on it for you! I wish they were more upfront in the interview process about what it's really like
Just quit NM yesterday after about 3 months. Everything he says is true, unless you are either extremely networked with tons of rich/upper class people who would work with you, or you're in a financially stable position set for the next 3 years, do not take this job. You will make zero money after net expenses. And you will not be "helping people", everyone needs insurance, without a doubt, but this is not the way about going about it. The irony is that the people who you want most, for what they call ideal clients, probably already work with someone. You will lose all your friends and family by trying to call them and sell them shit they probably need, but not to the extent that NM will tell them they need. I felt sick everyday going to work, trying to find people to set meetings with, to the point where people became transactions in my eyes, which is when I knew this was not what I signed up for. The Sales process takes 30-60 days, which means that from the moment to set up a meeting with someone (which btw is fucking impossible), to the moment you set up multiple meetings afterwards, you will not be getting paid on any of that, unless you close on a product on them, in which case it takes another couple weeks for underwriting to get done. Thankfully, because of that slow shit sales process, I only had 2 people close with me and they only took term life which was like $10 a month, which is something they need and was actually reasonable. He is right, in that the training for everything related to sales is pretty good, but aside from that, gtfo.
Whats the starting base salary they offer?
@@vaibhavgoyal794 $0.00
They don't lol
I currently cannot stand my job at a call center so when I got the email for the interview I was thinking this can't be worse....now I'm second guessing it
@@janinevanessa245 it's fewer calls than a call center but it's more personal because it's all of your friends and family that you're calling, and they don't answer, and you call again, and again the next day, and again, etc. And then you run out of numbers to call and you need to get your friends and family to give you the names and numbers of more people you can call. There is more to it than that to a certain extent & there's an art to doing it successfully but it's definitely a labor of love

it's now $18000, if you in one go, its a total of $24,000 if you pay in three installments. That;s extortionate relative to other courses ran by Believers.
Thanks for providing the update!! The question to consider then is whether there's a viable path that participating in it would be / could be worth $18K, compared against the alternatives of what you could have done with that time and money. I think it's only a small minority of people that would get that level of value from it, but it's also a small minority of people that would consider doing it in the first place. I wouldn't recommend someone jump into this blindly in hopes to escape their 9-5 by any means.

Hello. Thank you for your insight.I have a few questions about your experience because I just had an interview with NWM. So as far as it being like an MLM, I was with Primerica for a bit which is openly an MLM company. From what I was presented it didn't come off as what Primerica was so could you expound a little more about why it came off as one? ...Also, what would a pay structure look like being independent as opposed to being with a company? Do you still rely on product commission or do you charge hourly fees?.... Lastly, how are you attracting new clients being independent if you arent networking? .... I am fresh off of graduation and looking at new careers. I have done real estate which is what peaked my curiosity about a career in financial planning.
These are fantastic questions! I'm currently 'with' Primerica though I haven't taken it seriously as most of the pay is tied to recruits. Basically just using their study resources until I vet other brokers
@jamesthespeaker when you're independent you can set up your pay however you want 🙂 I don't take commissions nor do I charge hourly fees personally. It's an AUM fee primarily as well as financial coaching. If you ever want to dive deep into it hmu! Happy to work with you as a business advisor. As far as MLM things, by definition Northwestern is an MLM. it's network marketing / direct marketing where the career path long-term involves direct recruitment of people to work under you as well as an underlying incentive for most of those people to fail in order to retain for yourself the business that they drove in via their own networks.

@@jeremybiarHey there I have a call with Northwestern mutual for my final interview today. However, I am a little bit on the side of indecision because I do want to learn more about sales however I am in college and I do want to maximize my summer, but I know that in this role that may not be the case. But I don’t know if I’m ready to go independent yet. Thoughts on how I could maximize my income, still learn sales, but not be for lack of better words “used”? I’m extraordinarily good at communication but I need help in laying out sales techniques and actually bringing people to the close.
Recently just graduated and was offered a Post Graduate Apprenticeship with Northwestern Mutual to become a Financial Advisor. What are your thoughts on what I should do? This video has made me have second thoughts on working there now…
I also just have no clue what I want to do in life still. I finished with a major in business administration and just accepted this opportunity because like you said they “buttered me up” and I listened to all the positives and blocked out the negatives.
@@MarkElfff well big picture I'd say the odds that you stick at NM are incredibly low, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a chance. Particularly given that you don't know what you want to do, if you considered jumping onto NM, I would do it just to use the experience as an extended networking opportunity in order to set up your next job. Basically just reaching out to your friends dads and your former teachers and whatever other 40+ year olds you know and instead of doing the insurance deal with them you just email them and say that you are just starting out in your career and you would love to hear about their career path and what advice they would give to their 21 year old selves. And in that meeting you also ask about job opportunities at their company and/or connections they may have towards job opportunities, etc. That said, if you already have a different job opportunity or think you could get one, you'd probably be better off at the end of the day starting out there and skipping the NM step. & NM will always be there so if you want to try it out later on down the road you're still going to be able to do that.
I have been in Life Insurance over 4 years and am burnt out. I am looking into getting into investments and financial planning. I was looking at NW but thats out now. Where do your clients come from if you're not making calls and not networking? I am very inquisitive and need to find something solid.
Are you still at your current job or have you left? I do investments and coaching and I like it 1000 times more than the insurance business lol. But yeah every single client I have has initiated with me rather than vice versa. It started with me putting out a simple newsletter email every month just to friends and family, kind of keeping them updated with my life and with the happenings of my RIA. And so from that over time people came around, and when you do a good job for someone naturally you will begin getting sent business from their connections as well. But again, it's them that reach out to me. And the more established you become (aka the longer you are in business) the more people start coming around as well. So it's been a smooth growth over time. But I asked about your current job because if you wanted to grow using my no-sales method you'd want to stay in a job or have a side job for the first bit of time to allow your AUM to grow organically.
@@jeremybiar I was captive at one time, but I am independent now and have done ok but I want off the hamster wheel. Just trying to explore options.
@@Donnielucas77 ah that's perfect!! Easy to bridge that into RIA work because you can do both simultaneously and might have an easy time converting insurance clients into investment clients as well as other offerings as you begin establishing yourself as a financial advisor / a one-stop-shop for financial services. And obviously the income arch of investments is far more favorable as far as getting off the hamster wheel is concerned! If you are already independent with insurance I would definitely recommend launching an RIA independently as well !
I'm interviewing with NWM later today and appreciate your insights. One thing I feel you failed to apply proper context to is their "insurance first" driven sales model. Its no secret they are proponents of R. Nelson Nash's Infinite Banking Concept. The average person has long dismissed life insurance as the pillar of a sound financial plan because they've been misinformed by the financial services industry that life insurance is something your beneficiaries benefit from upon your death, rather than the IBC paradigm of using life insurance as a tool to make investments while you're still alive. A lot of the other things you said are true. Fortunately for me, I am retiring from the military and get to test out their system for 3 months using a military-sanctioned internship. I'll go through their financial planning academy and earn all my general lines and FINRA licenses during the 3-month internship.
Now they pay you a minimum stipend
I’m glad this popped up because I’m considering NW or prudential So I don’t know if you consider them just as big as NW. so now I’m contemplating my whole decision
I've never looked into Prudential personally so I can't really speak to how similar vs different they are! Insurance is a tough business though so I would definitely recommend keeping your options open!
i have, one of the recruiters said he gets his know how of training from northwestern- 100 people on a list in 10 days is a reasonable expectation placed by them.

I’m interested in how YOU do it, would love some help
@@joeravetti2210 where are you at in terms of the process? Currently working at a firm somewhere, or currently thinking about a career change, or currently in school? As for what I do you can get a feel for my firm at biarlegacy.com. If you want hands on help though lmk because if there's enough interest for that I'm happy to start a coaching group walking through step by step what to do and when along the process of launching and building your own RIA from scratch.
I'm applying at northwestern, would it be worth just doing the beginning training offer of the series 6? Then dipping and finding a real firm
If they pay for it, absolutely yes.
Most established firms will pay for your exams, but I'd say more importantly than who pays for the exam though is whether you believe you will thrive at the firm. The exam is a couple hundred bucks which is a drop in the bucket compared to your career potential. Most of what I share in this video though I would say still applies to other big box brokerage / advisor roles as well so you still want to choose carefully. Ultimately, I think the path that is most likely to lead to success is you starting your own RIA. If you don't feel ready for that, I would think about trying to get a job in the underwriting/administrative side working directly under a financial advisor/ at a big firm and gaining familiarity and confidence in the business that way before branching off to start your own. Would need to make sure you aren't signing a non-compete though but I wouldn't expect there to be any non-compete clauses for an administrative position
@jeremybiar ive already gotten my SIE completed and a life insurance license. My next step is to get my series 7 done but since I don't have a sponsor I can't take it and NW is only offering series 6 from what I can tell, they also offer a 6k bonus upon completion of training supposedly. Since I don't have a degree I was going to get the series 6 so it would stand out on my application to another firm
@@brotherbromp6558sorry I'm just now seeing your comment! I'd say that's totally a respectable way to go about it! Not trying to diss that path by any means. Only point I'd want to clarify is that you don't need a series 7 to start your own RIA. So while getting a 6/7 would be your next step to being able to sell mutual funds and other investment products on behalf of a broker-dealer/large firm, it wouldn't be a necessary step to you opening your own firm, under which you could continue to sell insurance products as well as receive management fees for AUM, etc. And once you have your own RIA, you can be your own sponsor I believe. But my firm uses a commission-free model, I don't have anything other than the 66 as I have no financial products for sale.
@jeremybiar that helps clarify things immensely, thank you. I wanted to try to get a job at edward jones since they offer salary as well as I'm afraid to become a RIA because I'm only 20 and don't have any experience in this field besides my current licensing:/ they definitely like to make the pathways fuzzy and undefined that's for sure
$15k your first year? Wow!
@@stefanmiller5113 net of the expenses, starting out from scratch as a 20-something, yeah. 15K would be really strong. my guesstimate is that less than 10% earn even that much, or in other words, that 90%+ of young first year reps have a take home pay / profit of less than 15k.
Really great information thanks, Jeremy. I was considering a position there, and have been through three interviews only to be given an assignment for trying to sell to friends and family before being offered the position. I've decided to keep my dignity and friends.

You mean to tell me that the “I can hear the sound of the river coming down” guy made this course!?
@@JuanGoetaGuitars that is the guy!!
What types of products do you sell?
Do you mean as a Northwestern Rep? Or me in the now? At my firm BIAR Legacy I don't sell any products. It's a commission-free model
@@jeremybiar in the now, your firm.
@@juanromero8998 okay cool. so yeah I don't sell any products as I mentioned; what I offer are two services, the primary one being investment management, the other being general financial advising / coaching.
Bro what are you selling for 4 hours a week and making thousands of dollars I want to get on that game
If you're serious definitely hmu at skool.com/reselling and I'll walk you through step by step! Depending on how quickly you pick things up you may only need one or two months to be hitting the ground running
@@jeremybiar okay I appreciate it I'll look into it thanks
Hi Jeremy, I think you are right.. you do have a worth while message. Personally, I needed to hear what you said, and you've giving me some helpful info that I think I can deploy on my own journey. I live in northern Idaho, I live very inexpensively and because of that I get to travel and play way more often than most. I think reselling is a perfect fit for me and my lifestyle, and I thank you for motivating me to making this happen! I see you have been at this for a while and I think your will for sure win the day, keep spreading the message my friend! There's nothing in this world that will stand in the way of a relentless man!
@@Robinxander2024 love it!! Thank you and best wishes on your journey!! 💪💪

Nice

@@blockchaindomain you got this!! I'm biased or course but definitely consider starting your own firm! 🙂
Hey Jeremy, almost $1k per month for your skool program wow. I can't afford that maybe down the road.
@@darrelltippett2527 pays for itself quickly but yeah it's definitely geared for those who are serious about making $ reselling! There's a lot of great free content out there geared towards making $500-$1000/mo reselling but I'm moreso focused on the $5k-15k/mo+ range
Ur all over the place BYE

Hello Jeremy Biar, I was analyzing your TH-cam channel and are you struggling with subscribers and video views for monetization? I can help you grow your TH-cam channel. Also I have analyzed very well about your competitors

I thought you were jschlatt and cut your mutton chops off in the thumbnail
Lol I could see it! 😂 He actually looks even more similar to my older brother, kinda crazy to look at haha
At some point you don’t want to resell things tho. I don’t think it’s satisfying as selling something you create or capitalizing in a big way on relationships you create by serving them what makes their life truly better. Also depends on personality type and what gets rocks off so in that way it makes sense
@@Copypastedates agree 💯 . It's a simple business which makes it more realistic to succeed but I think it's usually more fulfilling to solve more complex problems. Better to start somewhere though imo
@@jeremybiar for sure. Building relationships and even finding people to solve complex problems for takes time in and of itself. Plus some money or infrastructure
Great perspective man
Cant run from scary things bro.
Thanks for the comment! My goal was simply to highlight a unique aspect of reselling compared to many other side hustle / small business options out there that may make it more realistic for people to succeed
Is 995$ a month the only option for your program?

Great video. I'm side gig reseller. Can you name the things you would do to turn it into a full time gig in a year? I do about 8k in profit per year doing it in addition to my side day job. Thanks so much.
Epic!! Love it. What part of the country are you in? I may know of some warehouses near you. I'm coaching a pilot group right now full stop if you want to join in. Literally zero to 60 how to make 100k+ per year reselling in just 10 hours per week. Would love to have you if you are ready! Hmu @ Skool.com/reselling
