My name is David. I'm a veteran U.S. Navy Submariner. 20 years as a technician in submarines gave me experience in troubleshooting and repairing a variety of different systems. My wife and I are also full-time RVers. I see our motorhome as a land submarine with all its own systems (propulsion, electronics, HVAC, freshwater, wastewater, fuel, etc.) just like a submarine. And, just like a submarine, it is a top priority to keep our RV systems operational, maintain water-tight integrity, and perform routine inspections for things that may not be up to par. I would love to help you have confidence in your RV buying experience by providing a Certified RV Inspection before you finalize a purchase.

Great information. I’ve lived with the same issue for years. I’m going to attempt the hinge adjustment
Glad it helped. I'd love to hear the outcome.
My issue with the door on my 2004 Cheetah is it does both latch stages but then the door will unlatch back to the first stage thereby it doesn't seal. Looking forward to seeing your upcoming video. Thanks!
That sounds like the Door Latch Rods may be too tight. Basically like they are pulling to release the latch even with the handle not being touched. Is it one latch or both doing that?
@@rvshepherd Both latches. Thanks!
Nice, I sometimes feel like my door is a little off, I will check out my hinges. Thank you for sharing.
Glad to help.
Very cool 👍👍
Thanks 👍

17777+D3=?
Not an RV question, but I'll give it a go. If D3 is D * 3: If D = 1, the equation is 17777 + (1 * 3) = 17780. If D = 2, the equation is 17777 + (2 * 3) = 17783. If D = 3, the equation is 17777 + (3 * 3) = 17786. If D = 4, the equation is 17777 + (4 * 3) = 17789. If D = 5, the equation is 17777 + (5 * 3) = 17792. If D = 6, the equation is 17777 + (6 * 3) = 17795. If D = 7, the equation is 17777 + (7 * 3) = 17798. If D = 8, the equation is 17777 + (8 * 3) = 17801. If D = 9, the equation is 17777 + (9 * 3) = 17804. If D = 10, the equation is 17777 + (10 * 3) = 17807. If D3 is D to the third power: If D = 1, the equation is 17777 + (1^3) = 17778. If D = 2, the equation is 17777 + (2^3) = 17785. If D = 3, the equation is 17777 + (3^3) = 17804. If D = 4, the equation is 17777 + (4^3) = 17841. If D = 5, the equation is 17777 + (5^3) = 17902. If D = 6, the equation is 17777 + (6^3) = 18013. If D = 7, the equation is 17777 + (7^3) = 18166. If D = 8, the equation is 17777 + (8^3) = 18409. If D = 9, the equation is 17777 + (9^3) = 18804. If D = 10, the equation is 17777 + (10^3) = 18777. These answers could be mapped out on a graph that will be curved. How did I do? 😂

Yeah. We were very happy we got that inspection.
Do you carry Sweets?
Not sure what you mean?
I was in the same class as David. He is a super great guy with massive integrity! I would not hesitate to hire him for an inspection or RV consultations!
Thank you Kevin. I kind of miss those days when several of us from class would spend time together. Good times and great memories. Now, we're all out in the world helping others. Everyone - if you own an Airstream or just want to follow another great RV couple, make sure to follow @OurSecondLife

I appreciate it. I'm not eligible for the subscription option yet. Need to get to 500 subscribers first. Feel free to share one (or more 😉) of my videos. That will help as well. Thank you.
Why two in series and two parallel?? Loved this video. Thanks from Las Vegas 😎😻❤
Greetings @curtispilgreen7641 all the way from Las Vegas. These are 6 volt batteries. When batteries are put in series the voltage of the batteries is added together. Two 6v batteries in series output 12 volts. When batteries are put in parallel the amperage is added together. Two 100 AmpHr batteries in parallel become 200 AmpHrs of capability. So, with these four batteries (2 in series and 2 in parallel) we've created one battery bank that is 12vdc and 200 AmpHr. The RV DC system is 12v, which is pretty standard. Does that help?
Hey David! I really want to thank you for your keen eye. Without your inspection, I would have not found anywhere near the 44 items you found on this coach. The good news is, only 36 of those items were of issue to me, and even most of those were a battery or only an adjustment was needed. However, the tire damage was an issue as well as the 6 AGM house batteries that were at end of life! The dealership fixed (or will fix) all 36 issues I checked from your list. They replaced the house batteries with new AGMs, they repaired the damage under the wheel well, and they ordered ALL the parts needed to repair the remaining items on the list. Some came in before we left with the coach, and some will be shipped to me, with a promise to pay for the installation as well…in writing! It is interesting as you point out, that a dealer doesn’t find all the issues that seem so glaring. I think that is why you have an inspection business! Your fee was minor compared to the $$$ to fix the blowout damage and the batteries. I wanted you to know that we arrived home today after the almost 1300 miles from the dealer in Florida, to Texas…with our “new to us” Allegro Bus 40 IP! She drove great even through the monsoons, and is far more comfortable than our old diesel pusher. And with an extra 100HP and an extra 450 pounds of torque, it was a blessing. To anyone reading this, hire RV Shepherd to do your inspection so that you don’t have to pay the piper all by yourself! Thanks again David! MP
Thank you very much. This truly means a lot to me. My goal has always been to help people have confidence in their RV buying experience. WOW 36 issues to be fixed by the dealer!!!! That is great. Happy Trails!!
I’m missing some of the plastic L shaped molding on my 2015 crossroads cruiser that protects the floor from the elements, any idea where I can get some?
Your best bet is to call a RV repair shop. Most of them can order any part you need that they don't carry in stock.
@@rvshepherd I called two of the local RV shops and so far no luck, it’s very frustrating.
@@Whitpusmc That is frustrating. Have you tried calling the manufacturer? That may be the best place if RV shops are not helpful.
@@rvshepherd tried that as well, they want you to submit a form which I will do but I did it earlier on another part and never heard back
@@Whitpusmc Gotta love quality support. 🤷🏼♂

Yeah we wash it alot specially we get back from having fun
Whenever you do landry and a sock is missing it ends up in this guys RV 🤣🤣
They keep showing up in the most random places. Found one in the refrigerator the other day. 😂🤣
@@rvshepherd OMG! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What is the cost of this type of inspection on a class A motorhome?
It kind of depends on the area and level of detail. Prices range probably between $900-$1200 for the inspection. If you want laboratory fluid analysis of engine oil, engine coolant, trans fluid, or others those are typically extra.
Class c oil leak under it winnebago impulse 26Q gas engine
Yikes!!! Get that fixed.
Do you have a lock on the watchdog to secure it from being stolen?
I have one for when we are stying at an RV park. When we are on our own property I typically don't use it. The one I have is like a bicycle lock.
Great information here - I could not imagine putting sealant around the vent covers! Espescially since ours seem to deteriorate every few years from the sun and need to be replaced! That would make this job 5x harder! Look forward to more of your content - thanks for sharing this!
Fun fact: being electrocuted isn't fun
I’ve always been told to disconnect the NEGATIVE cable first…that way you don’t inadvertently arc the positive cable to ground.
I believe you are correct. In the big scheme of things it may not matter. However, if as you suggest you inadvertently make a connection between the positive cable and ground, you will mostly likely have a shocking experience...or worse. Always be very careful what you're touching. Safety first, never last; have a future, not a past.
Nothing wrong
Nice coach.
Oil is a liquid so its always wet inside or outside the engine. Lol
haha true. I was just thinking of old dirty oil that has caked on dirt feels a bit more dry. Good catch!

So, a one night stay? No thanks. This is why I don't use HH- one night stays are a waste of time.
We were passing through so it was way better than paying for a park for one night. This was free and had great scenery and wonderful hosts. I think this spot may be avaialble for 2-3 nights. can't remember. We also sometimes stay in a Cracker Barrel parking lot for a one night travel stop.
“Who’s sick is this 😂”

Weathering it out in zolfo springs ?
We are east of Zolfo near the coast. We survived. Wasn’t too bad.
Great video! Same exact thing happened to me on my (30 amp) setup. And my response was the same...cut the reel out of the loop! If not too much trouble...where did you end up sourcing a reel replacement?
I got it from Glendinning. From my research one of the best brands out there right now. I'm gonna update the video info with a link. Here it is for your quick reference. www.glendinningprods.com/products/cablemaster/cablemaster-rv/

Great idea!!!
Too. Many. Tabs. 😢
Scary stuff! How often should people be checking their reel!?!?
To be honest, In this case there is not much you can do. The best advice is to be attentive to power issues. If you have to reset power more than once or twice, there is probably something more serious going on. Look for the problem or call a RV technician or electrician.

Ooooooooooooohh 😮
The lingo can trip you up.
Great video! Very insightful. 😮
Glad it was helpful! Gotta keep that roof clean.
Hey great video!! I have the same issue with my RV and all my lights (interior and exterior) on my front slideout doesn't work. It's either from a bad ground or they are all connected by the same line and if one light goes bad then they all are bad(won't turn on). On your meter, what setting did you set your meter on to test your switch? Please let me know and thank you!!
Hey @Wawaiian Boy. In this video, I was testing to make sure the switch worked (that electricity would make it from one side to the other when the switch was in the on position). To do that, set your multimeter to the continuity setting. It is a tringle-shaped icon. This may be more technical than you care for, but here is a good article on testing continuity with a meter arduinotogo.com/2016/08/22/chapter-2-using-the-multimeter/ The symbol on the right that looks like a WiFi symbol turned sideways is usually used to indicate audio. If you only have the triangle and no audio icon then your meter may not be the kind that beeps. In that case, you look for 000 to indicate a good connection. The best thing to do is some test readings on a scrap piece of wire or metal that you know has good continuity. Hope this helps. Good luck in your troubleshooting.
A converter charges the batteries... Converts 120VAC to 12VDC... From generator or shore power.
100%
It took a while but my brain finally caught up with your comment. I realize I said, “not all INVERTERS will charge lithium…” It can get confusing and you are right about converters doing the charging. Most Class A and some other bigger rigs have a combo unit that is an inverter/converter in one. The label plate on ours actually says “Inverter/Charger.” I’ll see if I can edit this video to clarify the converter/charger lingo and how it is different than an inverter. At a minimum, I can do a short video clarifying. Thanks for pointing that info out and doing so with kindness. ❤
Paul, I posted an update/explanation video that I hope will help people with clarifying the lingo. It is a 1m short. th-cam.com/users/shortsdqz3V9Qaad4
