A Tongue Lashing Over Tongues in 1 Corinthians 14
In this follow up to the Prophetic processes of Isaiah 28, I track the importance of Paul's use of Isaiah 28 in his attempt to discourage the Corinthian believers from their undisciplined response to Spiritual gifts in the presence of unbelievers visiting their meetings.

Reading Genesis Like a Pagan, Part 6: I want to Sucker-punch Genesis
มุมมอง 49714 วันที่ผ่านมา
In this last installment of Reading Genesis like a Pagan I try an experiment to help people understand what I mean when I say that Genesis is History written with controlling metaphors like Kingdom, Temple, Chaoskampf etc. I hope it helps. If not, then just forget I said anything. It is supposed to be fun.
Reading Genesis like a pagan lesson 5 complete lecture
มุมมอง 3614 วันที่ผ่านมา
In this lesson we discuss the details of what a scientific vs. Ancient Near Eastern Reading of Genesis 1-11 means with a particular focus on Genesis 1:1-3. We consider three different ways of reading the first three verses of Scripture.
Reading Genesis like a pagan part 4
มุมมอง 6428 วันที่ผ่านมา
In this session we unpack the importance of Kingdom Establishment paradigms from the Ancient Near East, as well as a subset of that pattern that I have labeled Helderkampf (Hero Battle). Kingdom is one of the controlling metaphors of Genesis Creation stories.
Reading Gensis Like a Pagan Part 3
มุมมอง 59หลายเดือนก่อน
This is the third installment of a six part series about learning to read Genesis in the fullness of its original context for better understanding of the message of the Book.
Reading Genesis Like a Pagan Part 2
มุมมอง 80หลายเดือนก่อน
In this lesson we continue our discussion on the importance of reading Genesis as a message to those struggling within a world drowning in Pagan worldview. Its imagery is borrowed from that world.
Reading Genesis Like a Pagan part 1
มุมมอง 502หลายเดือนก่อน
In this lesson we begin a 6-8 part series on reading Genesis in its proper context. We will discuss the unfortunate but frequent attempt to apply a modern scientific lens to what is an Ancient Ancestor Epic and prose corrective to existing Ancient Near Eastern creation and flood texts.
101 MMV Scenes from Exodus Rock a bye Baby Waves mov
มุมมอง 115หลายเดือนก่อน
In this lesson I reconsider the common story of Moses floating down the Nile in a basket. We have several stories of floating babies down rivers, which seems like our own stories of dropping them off at Convent steps with a note, but the text doesn't say this. If one considers the location it seems a highly improbable version.
Take My Daughters, Please, Part TWO
มุมมอง 712 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today we conclude our discussion on the story of Lot and his daughters. We discuss whether Lot's offer was a genuine offer to save male skin at the expense of his daughters or an illegitimate offer designed to expose the full nature of the crowds evil to their own hearts.
Take My Daughters, Please Part ONE

The story of Lot is a horror. It is also severely misunderstood. In this session we begin to unpack why it is so badly understood.
101 MMV Scenes from Exodus zipporahs raw deal ready SD 480p
มุมมอง 1022 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this lesson, we unpack the issues related to Zipporah's heroic action to save her husband from his own stubbornness in regard to circumcision from Exodus 4. Unfortunately, Zipporah has been given a bad reputation due in large part to the poor translation and understanding of this admittedly weird scene.
101 MMV Still Small Voice in the Cool of the Day part 2
มุมมอง 1232 หลายเดือนก่อน
n this lesson we conclude our discussion of the often unrecognized storm theophanies in Genesis 3 and 1 Kings 19. Here we will zero in on the details in both texts to establish a better understanding of them. FYI I highly recommend the writings of Jeffrey Niehaus and John Walton.
101 MMV Still Small Voice in the Cool of the Day part 1
มุมมอง 1693 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this lesson, we explore the common misreading of two storm theophanies, one in Genesis 3 when God comes to Adam and Eve in the garden, and one from 1 Kings 19 when God comes to appoint Elijah as a judge against neighboring kingdoms. These are shocking to many because they are beloved scenes.
101 MMV Without a Vision

interesting stuff. but i have a questions, you said the demons, dragons, etc. were/are anti creation forces set to destroy the will of creation(and distract man from the purpose of his creation), 1. how then can chaos originate from the heart of man? , 2. isn't chaos also an anti creation force?...

Why does "god" in Genesis not want humans to know good from evil or have eternal life, yet Jesus wants to teach people good from evil and give them eternal life? If seems like Old Testament god and Jesus are opposites.

When God created us, we were perfect. God didn't hide the fact that these things existed, good and evil. We were immortal, and there was no sickness or suffering. When we sinned, the decay began. Eternal life, a new body, etc, are rewards for being saved and sanctified by Jesus Christ. It's how we return to our original state and relationship with God the Father.❤

Yeah the flood naritive bothered me also. Fallen angles enforced their will corrupting us and "god" called us evil and destroyed the while thing. A real God could have sorted things out?

The Serpent says they will know good and evil , not God. So, 1. He's lying and 2. It's at least true they came to know good AND evil. (It helps to conceptualize evil as merely the absence of goodness).

Imagine how many people make a living claiming the importance of these stories. Feed more people, prevent wars, improve the democratic process, prevent disease...doing ANYTHNING to make a better world ? Nah...sell heaven like a timeshare, counting on people to believe that is the "product" they get after they die. How ironically appropriate is it to talk about a story where a snake claims to know what "god" is really thinking and leads people away from working on a better world.

These stories are of ultimate importance as are the less productive and down right destructive versions of them put out by atheists. Original stories set the stage for all of life by answering the most fundamental questions of reality. Where did I come from? Why am I here? What's wrong with the world? How can it be fixed. The Biblical answers to these questions set the stage for unprecedented global prosperity, peace, and advancement. The Pagan answers kept the world in oppression, poverty, and endless war. The atheist answers have lead to mass starvation, global oppression, mass murder, mass incarceration... promising freedom and Utopia all that has been produced when enough atheists, charged by their origin story, gain power is spreading human misery and hopelessness.

@@BiblicalLiteracyMinistries Seriously ? People need to travel the world more to see the untold damage that religions have done to progress. How has Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, Catholic, Mormon religion done what the discoveries made in electricity, germ theory, chemistry, etc. ALL that religion does is temper the misery of the oppressed, fearful and hard of thinking. It also allows the greedy and powerful to manipulate such people with the exact crap mentioned in that response about NOT believing in fairytales causing human problems. Such comments underscore how idiots are deceived into giving money to hucksters who pray, perform healings and mock learned, inquisitive people. The hucksters do this finger pointing nonsense, while actual industrious people are busy providing the very technology that those preachers and the cultists who follow them, blather on with garbage. Hopefully more people respond to these crackpot channels to help others not fall for this diseased thinking.

I am promoting reading Genesis in its context. That context, when understood is far richer in theology and worldview shaping than reading the stories through a science shaped lens. I promote neither catholicism nor evolution, and clearly denounce atheism.
