Cheers BDR7865. We’re having to reverse our proposed route now so parking at Ardrossan and cycling to Wemyss Bay for the first ferry. I’ve done the Serpentine which is quite a steep wee hairpinned climb. Looking forward to it, having only done the 3 ferry route before. Thanks for all the advice. Hopefully we’ll make all the ferries.

😂I always find the descent challenging, either because of sheep, high winds, stones in the road or because I’m trying to pin it as fast as I can.

Nice one Fiona. The Mennock Pass descent is good fun. Once when we were descending the Radar Station my Di2 packed in and defaulted to my granny gear. When we got to the top of the Mennock all my mates set off, I quickly spun out and they disappeared. 😀 I somehow eventually managed to get halfway up my cassette and limped painfully back up to Crawfordjohn. 😀

Are you sure that’s not procrastination @HughDWallace? If you go for it try to get a nice day weather wise as it can be unpleasant at the top, but if you get a nice day the views are stunning.

There were surprisingly few sheep this time Brian, which I had no objection to as they’re such unpredictable animals.

It was great “fun” in a masochistic sort of way WMA. 😀

Although I’ve done this climb possibly eight times I’ve never gone along to the Green Lowther. I’ll have to do that the next time. Good shout @Baz76.

@@specializeddoug It's a great Ski slope dip from either end but it can be a bit dodgy with crosswinds combined with the speeds you can get up to.

We did it again yesterday Danny, it’s a tough wee climb.

I would say that this ride may be do-able on your bike as a lot of it is cycle path. There’s a couple of wee sections I would advise against you doing where there are alternatives I could show you.

Hear hear Ken. They can occasionally be a little difficult to get set up but once properly seated I’ve found them to be better, especially for gravel.

It was very wet which made the Falls really full, I remember us getting drenched that day BDR.

@@specializeddoug I don't recommend it, mind you, you said there was a nice line down the middle, sound like the loose stuff might have settled a bit then!

It was much better compacted than when we did it previously, at that point there were large loose stones which would’ve been horrible to climb.

How long is the ride? 28 miles.
