Old man drummer. Lots of opinions.
65 year old drummer playing feel good non copy written drumless track
After not playing drums for 11 years but previously playing for 20 years with 20,000 hours practice, trying to find out if you can make a living retired playing cover songs maybe in the clubs maybe opening up a recording studio inside your home you know trying to work this poor existence into something that makes money eventually

I'm not having a lot of good results trying to find other band members on Facebook Marketplace and stuff like that. I figured I'd go back to Google and play some stuff along with non copy written tracks that are drumless. This ought to be fun being retired . Will I make any money? Playing drums on TH-cam? Only God knows. I still feel blessed

is it too depressing to continue to do something spectacular after you retire? do you feel like you're just never going to succeed after you retire you feel like you're too old and people are discounting you. just like Clint Eastwood said don't let the old man in come on now let's come on let's join hands come on come on now. share/v/KDu9JsEJ8jJLmTPJ/?mibextid=oFDknk if TH-cam allo...
is it realistic to expect to be successful as a musician after retirement

are you deciding to after retirement go back to being a musician and relive your childhood dream? it's a little scary to start a new career at 65 or at the retirement age, how realistic that you might have a rewarding career after retiring being a musician

It's obvious that the rebound being different from the mesh pads is messing me up. I've been playing acoustic drums again now for about 4 months an average of 5 hours a week at this rate I figure about January I'll be used to the rebound meanwhile I'm doing 30 sets a week on the mesh pads with the rubber symbols
Got to be the stupidest so called drummer I’ve ever heard
In case you haven't figured it out yet mate, you can rotate the legs. You need to loosen the wing nut at the top of the leg assembly and the drum key screw at the base (at the back) for the legs to rotate. All the best 👍🏻
Thank you very much my friend.
Your Toms were flipped on backwards. Assembled wrong… The triggering parts need to be closest towards you, not away. They work perfect if assembled correctly.
Yeah all of what you're saying may be true and I've added more knowledge about the drums themselves since I bought them. Thank you for the correction but I want them to play like real drums even though they're cheap as hell
The couple little Strike Pro hiccups can be treated very easily from what I hear. I'm guessing it's going to be a good choice for me to exchange the smaller Nitro Max for a much bigger and expanded kit like the Strike Pro, especially for those of us who are used to playing on full sized acoustic kits like myself. Don't get me wrong, the Nitro Max is a good kit but I have a feeling I'm going to very much appreciate what the Strike Pro Special Edition has to offer when it arrives in a couple of weeks.
Yeah, I had the older edition in my cart for about 2 months. And I finally told my sales guy at Sweet water to forget it. So I'm not gonna get one now. But I hope it works out good for you
🤘🔥Well played, man. I just bought the Nitro Max a couple weeks ago and I agree. It feels like a kids toy. So after a few days of TH-cam research and reading up about the other options and brands and all that, I came to the conclusion that it just made sense to take the leap. I called my sales engineer at Sweetwater today and arranged for an exchange for the Strike Pro Special Edition. Backorder but I'm fine with a couple weeks wait. 😎🥁🥁
Enjoy it
I'm 43 and five months ago I started learning the drums. Damn man, I wish I would've started earlier. It's never to late tho. Sorry about the pup. I lost mine a long time ago and someday I'll get a couple more once I move.
Thank you for the kind reply, just remember to practice your a off and you'll get something out of it guaranteed. Watch that Spaniard I forgot his name, he'll inspire the hell out of you especially when he talks about the virtue of those 8-hour days of practice. It is truly a miracle what you can do if you give it those long hours and anybody can do it just like he said.
@@Stewsdrums yeah that guy is crazy. He has to have 4 brains the way he plays
I'm so sorry your dog passenger. I'm in a similar situation as you. I turn 65 this year, but still stuck in a depressing low pay job. I have to wait at max 22 months to get full retirement. I doubt I will wait and just take partial.. My cat of 17 years passed awhile back, the last family I had left. He stuck with me thru crazy ex girlfriends looking fo find themselves, COVID, and the insanity of the last few years. The good for me is that I am a drummer. I played for a short time in my teens. I gave it up and wished everyday afterwards I hadn't. Family, responsibilities, lack of time, money, and lack of energy all stopped me from buying a new set. A little while ago, after COVID I said that is it. I gotta play again if only for myself. Now I can't wait to have the time tp9 dedicate to play and go maniac on the set like I should. None of the piecemeal crap. Your playing 4 or 5 forty minute sets a day, did I hear you right ? Man, that is amazing. I hope you get out of your gloom and find some joy in playing. I remember after I bought my first set in 48 plus years. I put it together and did an ear tune. I smacked one of the rack toms. Dude the sound brought tears to my eyes. I was transported back to my teens to my friend's garage band playing in his dad's actual garage. My fellow band mates have either passed or fell0 off the radar so far it's as if they did. No matter what, I am still here for whatever time I got. I plan on making some noise saying so with a pretty mean practice schedule. I doubt in my wildest dreams I could match your schedule. God bless you brother. As Pete Townsend said... there once was a note, listen... All the best.
Wow I really appreciate the comprehensive message my friend. Everything you said I think is going to happen bring Joy back to you. That's what I do I remember when I first started playing we were air drumming along with friends and of course I was air guitar air keyboard, you name it. Do yourself a favor though and try to practice as long as you can. Cuz like that Spaniard said, them long practices will really make miracles happen no matter how old you are I believe. I don't know what's going to happen either with the future as far as making money doing this kind of thing, but like Dolly Parton said, all you got to do is believe in yourself, and don't be around people you can't trust be blessed my brother let me know if you get a TH-cam channel going off follow it I'll subscribe to it I'd love to see your story
tiggers are offset so ya don't hit them all the time
I'm 59 1/2 y.o.. I've been teaching my self how to play keyboard for 2 years avg 3 hours 6 days per week hoping in another 2 years when I retire that i will be good enough to play in an amateur low pay cover band (my bucket list). Although anything is possible, how practical is my time frame, what do you think, any suggestions??
From what I can tell what you're doing is totally logical and playing keyboard is going to allow you to make more money, I think it's a smart move
Do your best to practice longer than that and you'll won't regret it
@@Stewsdrums Will do. Thanks for the tip!!
I have been playing 30+ years. I just quit a band I was playing metal in. Takes up a lot of time and I have other things I want to do. I have been in a band, in one form or another since 1992. I say go for it.
Yeah that's why I'm practicing so hard so I can be standing out a little more than a lot of them, yeah what we got to lose really we all got to go sometime especially this time in life
Make a great product, then go sell it. That's how it works. Good luck!
Exactly!
Do it man. Get out there and go for it.
Thank you for the inspiration my friend
Anything is possible.
You got that right brother I got to remember that share your link with your page if you got one or your TH-cam channel
WOW I think you are the first person that does not like the Max kit every video and forum I have seen and read They love the new Nitro max, I just ordered mine and I get it Thursday can not wait to play it. It has been about 12 years since I played on the first nitro kit but hopefully you find a kit you like good luck !
I think it's a great beginner kit but my girlfriend can afford something better.
You should be able to rotate the legs th-cam.com/video/ckofKv2UmAU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KCf2rVR0BiBaftgA&t=60
Tighten the heads. It tells you to do this. Mine are very sensitive
Yeah we tighten them. You know it's a great beginner kit. We just decided to buy the strike pro instead but it's on backorder
Need to tighten the heads, they ship loose.
Thank you 😊
thats going to be on any electric kit you buy
Okay my friend
you have to set the threshold and sensitivity to suite your playing lol
Yeah thank you I think I've heard that before
I got Roland's and no complaints sir. Spent around $1200
Glad to hear it ☺️ thanks for sharing!
I bought Alesis Crimson 2 SE. 2 8" toms, 1 10" floor tom and 12" snare. The ride is triple zone and I absolutely love them.
Very glad to hear that. Confident the Strike Pro SE will be good.
@@Stewsdrumswill this nitro max kit last long??
If your looking to get an inexpensive kit vs the strike, get the Dm10 MK2 Pro. Another thing on the strike you will want to change your hi hat controller as it is one of the first thing to go on a strike.
Thinking of using brass cymbals with my PA system pumped up after it gets here. Still on backup.
Hi, thanks for the video, how was the volume of the Nitro max? Because I heard something about low volume issue... I want to buy Alesis kit too I'm quite a beginner, so I'm debating between the Nitro Max and the Surge SE. What do you think? Thanks for sharing.
Volume was good though headphones.
You needing hire drum technician, pros do that 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Yes sir El estepario Siberiano is one of my favorite drummers out there second to zackgrooves. You should check him out his feel is absolutely phenomenal but yeah I have a Pearl roadshow too or at least I think that’s what that is
Yeah I have checked him out and I think he's really super smart. He gives a lot of incentive on playing hard and trusting in yourself. He's one of my heroes for sure.
If you’re gonna be gigging prepare for your gear to be breaking all the time, it’s always shit you least expect n usually ain’t cheap
Yeah I definitely don't want to fool around with that cheap stuff. True I'm trying to save money whenever I can but yeah after all it is a tax write-off so you might as well buy as most reliable equipment as you can
