I love Luce and I would buy dolls for my grandchildren if they become available.
That letter David wrote saying it's a plot, God help the world ...Dead accurate......it's world wide, David new, he tried to tell about how this world runs on Satenist.....the Cops new Exactly what was going on and that's why they ignoreed Maury..they were all in on the Devil worship..CIA, FBI, all police , God it's World wide It's worse than it was back when..That's why they slit David's throats. ..Keep your mouth shut.. I'm sorry Maury went through hell to get this published. He was a brilliant man and reporter.
Today I declare that Jeff is right. That's it.
Great analysis. Medjugorje is an incredible place, it truly changes hearts. I'll be going for the 4th time from Australia for the youth festival in August. It's already busy enough each time I visit, so I hope your listeners stay sceptical!
Too many Marian apparitions for my understanding.
Lourdes is about healing Fatima about reparation and praying for the conversion of poor sinners Knock is about Revelation, the Holy Souls and the Eucharist Medjugorje about peace amongst other things Different emphasis in different places and also significant for each local culture and often place in time. The closer we get to Our Lady, the closer we will get to Christ
Very interesting discussion on the Church's nil obstat (spelling?) since I've heard positive things coming out of the movement but also the controversy. For instance, my parish's chapel has booklets on a 'patriotic rosary' distributed by a pro Medjugorje group which I have prayed leading up to the election. Now the issues make more sense and I'm waiting for next week.
Can't wait to hear Jimmy's take!
You could make a whole miniseries out of this story. Tragic, but very interesting.
Sad to have Cory leave.
I felt more emotion from Jimmy describing the Toy Story catchup scene than the couple of times I actually seen it.
The Gorn are Star Trek Magog😂
What?! In all my years of watching, watching, and more watching of Stargate, I didn't know this episode was extended! It's one of my favorite episodes, too! I love the diner a metaphor of a waypoint between destinations of existence. I had the original box sets that filled up an entire room, and that had the cut version... so I went to the library and rented season 8 with the extended cut! Thanks guys, and stay amazing! Beautiful podcast! -Eric
Thank you for listening! I was pretty bummed that I didn't watch the extended cut for the podcast, but what can you do?
@@StudioLams You could try phoning Cheyenne Mountain to see if you can take a quick jaunt through the ol' Stargate, but you would have to find a solar flare from about a week ago on the correct side of the sun. Stargate is a documentary after all, right, so it should still be there? Good luck!
@ericc6788 Don't tempt me! 😁
Why hasn't anyone ever asked Mary during an apparition about the salvation of devout Jesus trusting protestants?
I’m no lady, but I adore Pete. He’s somebody I would befriend, and if he was single I’d introduce him to my sister. So basically I identify with Mark Carter in the Stargate world. Also; Spam, pickles, and snake juice, is the fastest weight loss diet I’ve ever tried. There’s video instructions that are very funny, if you like being insulted about your weight. My wife, bless her heart, sent it to me. I did it and dropped 30lbs in 2 months. …and then I stopped and gained back 40lbs. But it was nice being skinny for a little while.
I am going to have to try that diet! Thank you for listening!
In the first two seconds you have the wrong title on this episode. You re-used the title from episode 336 here when it should be 337 "The Mystery of Medjugorje, Part 1"
Thank you.
@StarQuest Media. I have an idea that is the sacred heart with the Divine Mercy rays streaming out of it. Not sure how best to accomplish this, so I'm sharing it. Artists let's combine the image of the Sacred Heart and Divine Mercy. Thank you. God bless you.
Suppose to be paramount mountain in the sking scene
As a series not-quite-finale, this was pretty good! Even in the abbreviated form. As far as Pete goes, eh, he's more boring than anything (up until the house thing). I think the scripts hobbled him. Jack does appear a couple times in SGU - all in the first season, IIRC, although someone else we're very familiar with does appear in a fun episode of season two. (And as far as Sam and Jack after this episode go, the semi-canon (I think?) SGA continuation novels make it clear they are a couple.)
Thanks for your comment -- I'm almost looking forward to watching SGU again! And I definitely do need to check out the novels at some point...
I like Pete, not over Jack of course, but I like him. I forgive the supposed stalking because Sam is suspiciously perfect and combined with her blatantly secret double life is a bit of a red flag. 😆 I know this is a low bar, but Pete is way better than her other boyfriends. I also like spam! Amazing in fried rice, on toast with an egg, stir fried etc.
Thank you! That's a very good way of putting it. I agree!
Regarding the cognomen of Pilate. I wouldn't completely rule out the possibility that the name comes from pilleus. Roman cognomina do have a tendency to be somewhat self-deprecatory. Take for example caecus (blind), flaccus (floppy), or scaurus ( bow-legged). One wonders if the name could even mean "hairy" - from pilo, pilare. Anyways, wonderful podcast!
Could you not have found someone with a softer voice to speak the part of Mary-she sounds like a smoker.lol. Very interesting that Mary says they are not to know if there is life on other planets.I take that answer to be a yes! For is there was not, she could have simply have said no and that would have been the end of that.People stepping on Mary's gown or veil-couldnt she have floated in the air to avoid that? I'm not mocking, I'm just thinking in a practical way.Mary says there is only one faith-which would that be? Catholic? I'm surprized Mirjana showed the parchment with the secrets to others.Even if it was blank, wouldnt she have known not to show it to anyone? I feel the Medjugorje apparitions are ominious because never before has she appeared for so long in one place and it can only mean one thing-that we are in end times!
Dude that's his wife he thanks her for helping with the voice over work in the end of the episode
_Old_ animation style - great backgrounds, questionable cells
I have been to Medjugorje. I went with friends on a pilgrimage in the late 90s. While I enjoyed my time there I found it concerning that the apparition had gone on so long and some of the messaging seemed off like the statement that once Mary stopped appearing there she would no longer appear to anyone. I have many friends who are very devoted to Our Lady of Medjugorje. Devoted to the point that they seem obsessed and that they know through that devotion that the “End Times” are here. They are the ones sending me lists of things to prepare for the Three Days of Darkness and other things I would consider to be false prophesy. All this makes me think it isn’t real or maybe started real and now has become a source of prophet and attention. ( Dom, don’t confuse me with my teen daughter who shares my love of sci-fi and often uses my account to comment on all things Star Trek and Stargate. Back when I was her age I was an active duty, female marine. )
There's also the time the seers said that if a napkin falls into a certain river the world would end. That was before the Franciscans got involved at Medjugorje, way back in the 80s. I'm looking forward to listening to this later
What about Mary saying this is the last time she will appear makes you doubtful? Is it not clear what she is implying? We are in end times! You say your friends are mentioning the 3 days of darkness and other things.I have heard of that but not coming from the messages from Medjugorje.Seems your friends are mixing in Medjugorje messages with other prophecies and by the way, what makes you think the 3 days of darkness is a false prophecy? It is said Padra Pio believed in it.Dont let the things your friends say make you doubt Medjugorje. Judge it based soley on what it is, not what others are adding to it.Personally, I think people should take it seriously just based on the lengh of the appearances.
Though I think it;'s cool that the topic of Tibetan Buddhism was handled well in Dr. Who.
This is a bit of a tangent and not so much a Dr. Who topic, but you caught my interest in the discussion of the Dalai Lama and Buddhism. I am a practicing Catholic who, back int he 80's as a college student, spent a semester living with the Tibetan people in exile in India and Nepal. Although now I understand that the underlying theologies og Catholicism and Buddhism are quite different, I was nevertheless impressed with the similarities of human values between the religions. I supposed I am still impressed at the similarities of human values, just not so confused about the theologies. Perhaps on one of your shows (Catholic answers, Mysterious Worlds, or whatever), you could do a discussion of Tibetan Buddhism and its similarities and differences with Catholicism. My time with the Tibetans ultimately made me a better Catholic, it just required that I go through years (even decades) of questioning, processing, and prayer. I would love to ehar what you have to say about Tibet, its people, and its religion.
Did you miss that the B plot was a redo of Apocalypse Now!?
18:20 Ro was initially ordered (by Riker) to remove her earring, and when she accepts Picard's offer to remain aboard the Enterprise, she did so under the condition that she could wear her earring on duty. This, was sloppy writing on the part of the TNG writers: Worf had always worn his baldric(s). As far as I know, those are more Klingon indicators of rank, and cultural/fasion/military trappings, rather than truly religious items, as the Bajoran earrings are. The conversation with Ro and Picard (her making a formal complaint to her commanding officer about the behavior of her superior officer, Riker for prejudicial behaviour) should have been along the lines of ''If Lieutenant Worf has latitude to wear his sash, I should have latitude to wear my earring..." I think the reason Ro worked so well as a character, is because despite growing up in Texas, Michelle Forbes is of Mexican origin: She would no doubt have had numerous experiences growing up of people treating her one way, then finding out she was Mexicana, and abruptly treating her differently. That experience of 'not quite belonging' and being on edge about it, was something she was able to channel into Ro, and make her such a convincing character. She was definitely one of my favorites.
He also , in the unabridged version, mentions the excessive farting he heard...
52:56 Favorite episode? No, but I do enjoy the nonsense which makes this episode fun to me 😆
There is a popular head cannon that this was a scam/ruse on the farangis’ part and that’s why they are so strange. It doesn’t make it any better but it does allow the episode to sit inside cannon without major conflict. It also allows for it to have been Quark in the episode, just under a guise for the scam.
Hi Jimmy - fyi the second syllable in Benicia is pronounced like "knee" when referring to the town in the bay area.
So, if the Irish celebrated samhawharever, and they brought with them customs they had for Halloween… then……
All Rodney needed to add was “some of us are descended from the ancients” 🤦♀️😆…guess you can head cannon that Rodney didn’t want shepherd to look cooler than him.
That would have worked! But Rodney has no rizz
I’m so glad that lower deck is back. This was a great rundown of the episodes. My favorite part of both episode episodes were the ones involving Tendi and the Orians. Regarding the alternate versions of the crew, I have a suspicion that we’re going to see more of these. At the beginning of the first episode, Mariner mentioned that they have been seeing a lot of subspace riffs. I wonder if that is part of the season arc. I wonder if we are going to see other versions of the Cerritos crew.
Wow
Great video guys. Stotzy here. I haven't watched this one in decades so I decided to rewatch it last night before I wrote anything here. Very glad I did because it wasn't as bad as I remember. It had its absurd moments. The Tractators for example. Absolutely laughable. Even with the Wirrn backs on them. The whole idea of them bringing down the meteorites was pointless. If they needed humans to drive their excavator then why try to kill them with orbital strikes? Turlough's temporary breakdown, as needed for the background, seemed to fade a little too quickly. Great acting by all. A tad over the top from Brazen and Plantagenet. Their suspicious nature reminded me of the 2nd Doctors time. Seemed he and co were being accused of all sorts just because they were there. Only one thing you didn't mention and that would be the silver skinned elephant in the Veruna system. Where was Kamelion???
Doty is a scoundrel. He was paid to lie
The older Hobbit animated film that you mentioned is short, and very weird. You actually find it on TH-cam. It's worth finding cause it's so bad and strange.
I have never understood how Bronson, modern integralists, and #TheReligiousWhite evangelicals claim to love Americanism and the Constitution while trampling our #FirstFreedom: the Establishment Clause. James Madison wrote that those who transmogrify their religious beliefs into law are #tyrants, making slaves of a supposed Sovereign People who are forced to comply with religious proscriptions they abhor. The art of politics is #negotiating and #compromising, which are resented and rejected by politicians who lure voters with claims of shared religious beliefs or "Judeo-Christian values." Behold the failed Republican Party, which sees partnering with Democrats to pass legislation as making deals with the devil. We should not elect politicians who campaign as Christian soldiers. We need politicians who recognize religion is personal, and no religion has primacy above any other.
I really enjoy your lost 'scriptures' discussions Please keep them coming!
Who doesn't love Ba'al?
We sure do!
10/10 intro 😂
Fun!!
So, after the Mars attack by the Androids, Starfleet Command does not find any issue with using a Hologram with an AI pattern controlling it being present on a ship full of our new cadets? I thought they decided that the AI pattern thinking in the Androids was what made them so dangerous to cause mass destruction and death. Or is that error code isolated to the coding of Bruce Maddox for these particular androids? I have not been able to watch the new series because I will not break down and purchase Netflix, but your recaps and discussion have made me feel like I got to see each one! Thank you!! Pax Christi
didn't happen. not biblical
Started watching Jimmy Akin promoting star quest, and now I've found more interesting subjects.
It is interesting they went with Le Grand Sommeil for the French title. Le Grand Sommeil is also the French title for the 1946 movie The Big Sleep.
That is very interesting! That never occured to me -- thank you for catching that!
Smettetela di dare la colpa a Gary. Patricia non era certo una santa!
They made this episode and the ones that had wormhole Xtream and it kinda made me feel like the star gate series is a fake silly show covering up for a real life program our world governments are really doing. It gives the series fans hope that real technology was found and we as a species are using it in real life along the story line but maybe not as bad situation the series got into.
There is a theory out there that Stargate is actually a documentary. It's really cool to think about!
When i saw this posted the other day i couldn't wait to watch this. Back in the day when we got our first vcr i recorded each episode from our local PBS station and i must have watched each ep 5 or 6 times a day. The novelty of having Doctor Who to watch on demand was incredible. Such a great story. As you said the timey wimey aspects are fani. Adams influence is so much fun. When the Doctor addresses the Countess as " You're a very beautiful woman.... probably" was hilarious. Obviously the scene with John Cleese and Elenor Bron will go down in Who legend. She went on to play in the 6th Doctor story Revelation of the Daleks. Side note Jimmy. Thisceas not Romana's first visit to Earth. The was Stones of Blood. Chadbon had a great role in Blakes 7 as the brother of Avon's partner Del Grant. He did a great job in that as well ss in the 6th Doctor story Mysterious Planet. Cheers guys 👍
