Tuxedo is too light, navy isn’t an appropriate colour for black tie. Classically, the tux is either black or midnight blue, the latter being developed to appear ‘blacker than black’ under artificial lighting. The formality level is not reached, and the navy fabric and black satin are too close without being the same, thus clashing. The quarters are too open at the front bottom, exposing a distracting triangle of white shirt just above the crotch and distracting from the elements you want to emphasise. You should also be wearing some kind of waist of covering, a waistcoat or cummerbund depending on personal preference. If cummerbund, ensure it is worn with the pleats facing up, as they were historically developed to hold admission tickets or other slips of paper or small items. If you hate these, they are unnecessary when wearing a double breasted jacket. I would also recommend against vents in the back of the jacket, a tuxedo traditionally is made to drape well and fit the body, which is compromised by the double vents. They don’t break any rules, it’s just better in my opinion to avoid them. The black tie dress code is a strict, exact thing. There is little room for creativity within it. This is to create a formal air around the event, to show respect to it, the evening, the host, the guests and the purpose of the event. If you would rather opt for a blue look than the traditional black tux, a dinner jacket is an appropriate option. I recommend against navy, as it clashes with the black bow tie for which the code is named. Opt for royal blue in your jacket instead, no lighter or darker, and wear with traditional tuxedo pants, shirt and accessories.
