I'll be going over my new to me 322 and deciding what to do with it in this series of videos.
Ford 6.9 idi Radiator Hose Heater and Oil Pan Heater
มุมมอง 5K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I'm installing a Kats lower radiator hose heater as well as a Zerostart oil pan heater on an '86 F350 The Kats was about $35 and the Zerostart was about $70

I built a waste oil burner out of a couple of propane tanks and a blower motor.
Tankless Hot Water Heater Review

Three years after install, I share my thought on the Paloma Tankless Hot Water Heater.
How did it hold up?
Does this open the thermostat too
Great thanks
Late to this party, but wanted to chime in on the Kats 300 watt heater just like this one. Mine is working great on an F250 in 15-25 degree weather. Coolant convection is excellent and keeps my coolant at 58-63 degrees all night. The truck starts perfectly and warm coolant also heats the oil cooler and engine block. Highly recommend this item. Nice tips on cutting the hose
Old video, I know, but maybe adjust the valves, that could be what's causing a difference in compression. I got lucky, I have two 322, one has 155psi across all three, I was amazed and the second one has 180-182psi, so slight difference in compression. I've heard 130 and up is good, so maybe a valve adjustment will fix the low cylinder. What did you decide?
What ever happened with this tractor?
love your build amazing
Made mine from 18" pipe, blower from a microwave, fence pipe and scrap bits. Videos th-cam.com/video/PeyV490fGB4/w-d-xo.html Clean up of mine th-cam.com/video/StVJgbA7JII/w-d-xo.html
What is the diameter of the rad hose heater? 1.75"? I think the pan heater doesn't have enough watts to do much. I have a magnetic 200w and it doesn't do much in my 13L oil pan.
I dont remember
Nicely done. What's the fuel consumption per hour?
probably 1/4 to 1/2 gallon per hour
Great idea! This is the first one I've seen with a "forced air" intake. It seems to make it burn cleaner than the other types. A lot of thinking went into this. This really gets the wheels turning in my head. I may have to try to build one myself. Thanks for the inspiration! Sharing your ideas is a great influence!
Thank you
That is a lovely job. You could see how much the drip rate is without having to keep pulling the pipe up if you rammed a funnel into the oil input hole and raise the supply pipe.
I usually don’t need to see the drip rate. I know how many turns of the needle valve to get the flow I want.
you can use the paper clip to hold the bottom www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.alibaba.com%2Fproduct-detail%2FNo-Magnetic-and-Paper-Clip-Type_60458919954.html&psig=AOvVaw25yKejl1UVgi-8Nn5AYKYV&ust=1609520662822000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CAIQjRxqFwoTCNCKsObZ-O0CFQAAAAAdAAAAABAD
th-cam.com/video/yzmY0YJ1si0/w-d-xo.html Hi. I chose a different path of development. Revealed the full potential of the device. And as a serious weapon set the safety.
Couple of questions: are either of those heater thermostatically controlled/max temp cut-off or do they just run constantly when plugged into the appropriate power source? Maybe you could get some temperature readings of coolant temp vs. ambient temp? Do you have a "Kill-a-watt" meter? I'd be interested to see real world power consumption.
I believe they just stay on. There was nothing in the literature about a thermostat. I know when I had it plugged in all night at 20 degrees I went outside to feel it. The unit and radiator hose was warm to the touch. The forward portion of the block was cooler but also warm. I do not have a Kill-a-watt meter. Both together is 725 watts which is a pretty good draw so I wouldn't leave it on 24/7.
Does it work as good as the block heater? Is the oil pan heater even needed? I have 1 1992 f350 which block heater just died on and was think about putting in the hose heater in to do it quicker if it will work. Any input would be great. Also, Thanks for posting!
I don't believe my block heater ever worked. But if I had to guess I'd say this is second best and would need to be plugged in for longer because its not heating the coolant directly in the block. The thermosiphon takes time. I did notice the truck starts fine without the pan heater but I figured why not have warm oil too?
I'd suggest getting a circulating cooland heater. It has a check valve to prevent coolant going back down as it gets farther away from the heating element. This should be good to keep your engine warm. I have a lower rad hose heater installed similar to this guys. It desn't feel like it does a good job circulating the coolant up through the engine.
Thx - looks good (except, perhaps, for some that last pre-packaged powdered cheese!). You only gave the initial baking time and temp - foil-covered. Did you cook additional time with foil off? What did you serve it with? Did you re-heat leftovers, or is it good cold as a snack?
