    Very nicely done! As a "blue" parser would love to know what you prioritized on gear. I'm basically CR/DET focused and very little DH, and wonder if that's my problem... plus I can't hit 9 GCD in darn No Mercy window.. (2.40 GCD time). Have 710weop/acc and one raid 710 chest, but maxing around 14.7k (on dummy.)

      I'm still quite new to the game so I don't know the exact math, but from my understanding learning from my exprience friend you want to keep DET and DH as equal as possible and current tank gear doesn't give DH at all, which is why melding DH is preferred. It's kinda like how if you have 1x10 (DH x DET) = 10 if you add 1 to DET it becomes 1x11 = 11 but if you add 1 to DH it becomes 2x10 = 20. You can see how it's a big jump. I don't think gearing is the issue tho, not being able to hit 9 gcd in no mercy with 2.40 is more concerning. Did you late weave it? You need to try and wait until GCD is almost back up before hitting your no mercy.

      @@fanazador I redid my gear melds up to around 870 DH, still lower than DET by a large margin. You know, I don't think I am late weaving it...I think I'm hitting it right after GCD! I'll try delaying it and see how that goes!! TY

      ​​@@jizzing I hold left and right click to move forward and use my mouse side button to strafe left and right. Every game I play I prefer having dedicated hand for movement and not interfere with my action hand, so I can do both at the same time.

    The thing that got me the last two tiers was the burnout. I'm pretty casual when it comes to raiding. My group gets burned out on the first three fights while we are working on the last one. It would be great if Yoshi-P decided to lift the reclear requirement on the odd number patches. Being able to do the raid at a reasonable pace for me helps with the anxiety.

      Don't you guys only need to reclear it 1-2 times if you have a full static? after that you can just skip the fight to the next one. I'm still fairly new but I can see how it's tiring if the group is struggling on older one instead of progging the new one.

      @@fanazador On the newest savage tier, each fight is locked behind its predecessor regardless of whether the previous fight was cleared before. So even if I have all four savage fights unlocked, I cannot immediately queue into the fourth fight on a new week. Instead, I have to clear all the fights in order up to the final fight.

    My worries always come from what I feel is my skill level. Just Don't think I'm good enough at normal content to jump in, plus I still have some difficulty seeing all the info on my screen that I need. Despite that, I just got myself into my FC's static, told them my worries and we're gonna jump in and give it a shot this coming tier! Very excited

      Between what Fanazador said about persistance and what you said about skill you have what you need to get better. First step is always identifying the problem. When it comes to skill use what SE has given you, you have Stone Sky Sea. Hold yourself accountable to the time limit on the dummy, don't look at your progress as a failure but as a benchmark. Always go through the motions when practicing, never skip actions when you mess up rotations. Practice hitting the right buttons in sequence and then gradually get faster. Same with seeing whats going on in a fight. Never skip observing mechanics to react quickly, practice doing it the right way even if you react too slow, you'll get faster through repetition. Lastly your worries are universal. Everyone has anxiety when trying new things. The people who succeed simply don't let worry prevent them from acting. Sometimes knowing that helps people from seeing established raiders as "gods" or "advantaged" when they just have experience already jumping into new things. Like Fanazador said if you want it you'll do it, don't be afraid just keep inching in.

      If you have limited playtime I would say a static. If people are punctual you can just log on and jump in the raids without wasting time. Having to find and form PFs and possibly alter strats with constantly changing parties could eat up your playtime and limit your runs. But tbh finding people and changing positions never really takes that much longer anyway.

      definitely find a static that fits your hours. when you have limited time to play, there's nothing worse than going into PF and having your time wasted by randoms/leavers. PF is good for people who play at odd hours but still have a reasonable amount of time. If you have weekends open, there are a lot of weekend warrior statics that you can join.

    tbh it wasn't awful back then. Obviously it was worse than old Holmgang back when it was on a 3min recast timer but LD was created back when healers still reguarly used GCD heals and this was true even through stormblood. And healing potency just hasn't kept up with player HP counts as the expansions went by; in other words you needed more and more resources to heal a DRK to full as time went on. Back in SB you just needed a SCH excogitation and AST Essential Dignity and if either of them crit then the DRK was pretty much at full HP. But in ShB and especially in EW before the rework, you just had to sink so many cooldowns or GCDs into the DRK to get them up to full health. Also in 6.0 WHM was really REALLY bad so there were less WHMs around to benediction the DRK, and all of that just came to a head in 6.1 when they finally changed it.

    Back then and even now on my alt i did Novice Hall for the gear it gives and the xp bonus ring, but sadly thats the only reason, the actual info there is lowkey even bad sometimes, like singlepulling tanks or healers that pop up hp of teammates rather than DPS

    FFXI was a whole other ballgame, my dude. And yeah, literally half of the HNMLS bailed on XI for 1.0....ans it didn't take long before they all came back. I started ARR in the PS3 beta, and I made two chars, because my XI friends split between two legacy servers. Being able to solo level thm/blm so easily was a gift after XI leveling.

    We were also fighting against the pre-QoL changes. We had accuracy and stamina. Enmity was far more chaotic without proper planning. And for the first raid tier, I vividly remember food disappeared after each death. Not to mention our spells and skill did not reset upon death. Also, don't forget, AION turned F2P right around ARR beta. There were quite of few exAION players present at beta.

    Older player here. No - things weren't more difficult. More convoluted and over redundant. Secondly - I feel like the game has always been somewhat evergreen in terms of content. Gear scaling makes things much easier is all but you can fix that with the ilvl settings or changing your gear.

    I don't feel there is any reason to have classic in FF14. I feel that FF14 does a really great job at having you experience each expansion fairly completely regardless of what expansion is out. Yes there is some gear farming and things like that which you miss, and yes the raids are easier when you have higher item leveled people but overall I feel it's very close or at least it's still fulfilling experience.

      This is what I was thinking. As a veteran of the game playing through the experience isn't that much different. It gets easier with ilvl scaling is all. But your skills you have at level baring complete job reworks or having access to jobs that didn't exist back then is just the same as it was then. The only things from ARR to HW they got rid of were redundancies or convoluted abilities you don't need. Things have always changed very slightly over time but not to the extent you're not experiencing the same game.

    I know you probably don’t understand why a3s was hard back then but the gear check was extreme to the point where statics disband. It literally took months for people to clear a4s let only a3s.

    You saying you "dont care about the potency change" doesn't make any sense. It literally broke the game turning some dungeons into a utter cake walk even close to solo-able. Try playing Bard and Machinist when they were "casters", or the fact YoshiP's team apologized for over-tuning the fights. It is easier, BUT you still need to do the mechanics as intended its just you have much much more room for error. Oh and then TP...that mess of a DPS loss.

      I mean, feel free to try older fight min ilvl no echo, would love to see how long it'll take you to clear. If it's not cleared in 10 pulls I don't consider it a cake walk.

      @@fanazador Im not diminishing your win just saying ignoring certain changes is silly. I know that dungeons got completely ruined by the power change and remix of skill placements and how they work with the massive overhaul. Id be surprised if raiding was totally unaffected. Plus again TP was a dps loss. I said dungeons were a cake-walk after the change not raiding you still need to understand mechanics you just have more leeway.

      @@Mechazoid5116Ah Dungeon is a bit different case, I assume by that you mean your experience from doing it in roulette which doesn't use the Min Ilvl settings causing you to go in with lv 90 gear. So yes you will skip a lot more mechanic since you have more stats than normal if you're only doing it synced but not min ilvl, I've never tried it but I would assume doing dungeon with min ilvl will feel totally different just like how doing raid only synced is definitely a lot easier as well. but that's just my speculation.

      @@fanazador Actually you are still synced down heavily in roulette. It is maximum of that period in time it was introduce. If you are going to under max lvl dungeons that would make you basically min-ilvl if you are going for max you might be 30-50ilvls above depending on the expansion the dungeon is from (ARR is the worst tuned for this in your favor.) In a raid yeah you get the echo and max ilvl for that content tier, but if you did min ilvl in a raid now compared to release it is different DPS wise (sometimes mechanic but thats VERY rare) it is "easier" in terms of DPS but that doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme because 14 cares about your mechanical knowledge more than your DPS output so at the end of the day the accomplishment is the same...unless they nerfed the mechanics directly. Which that did happen on some raids and other content. Actually a funny story the potency change broke some methods of farming old Trials like King Mog having to stagger your DPS to not force weird enrages. Same with Ifirit I believe.

    You're not entirely wrong, many people who did them when they were current think that T7S was more difficult than Gordias but many of those people also outgear'd their way through A3S and nisi cheesed A4S as well. You're comparing 4 second coil savage fights that are all tuned to be more difficult than turn 9 at the time. Also they giga-nerfed A3S in patch 3.21 so A3S MINE isn't what people actually went through even if you handwave away job changes. As you know Second Coil Normal was the equivalent of today's savage fights and second coil savage was the equivalent of modern-day ultimates so it's not really a fair comparison when savage SCoB fights can only really be compared to A4S in terms of tuning. Just for comparison T9Normal took 16 days to clear, second savage took 30ish days, and Gordias also took 30ish days. You also have to understand that final coil brought tons of people into raiding because it wasn't tuned that difficult and was killed in like 5 days, so many people got into raiding only to experience the biggest rugpull in xiv history with insane difficult job design on top of gordias mechanics. But hopefully you get the idea that nobody expected or wanted a savage tier to take as long as savage second coils, essentially 4-mini ultimates, to clear. And gear progression was much slower back in those days and you didn't get coffers like you do now, so you could have a BLM that doesn't get any raid drops for a month straight and they flat out don't have the HP to survive a Nisi pass+AoE overlap unless they do truly degenerate things like drink a Vitality Pot to live through the damage. There was almost no raid mitigation buttons like there are now; nowadays you can just press phys ranged buttons and tank through the AoE+Nisi ticks after killing all 4 legs but back in the day that was not an option and the non-tank player that had nisi during that AOE was just dead meat without boles (bole used to be a shield card that ASTs had. Also, AST was a shitty job until around 2.3 so that's not an option), vit pots, or stoneskins (single target WHM gcd shield). Go youtube Klops and his A4S commentary if you want an idea of how the game used to be, he was part of the world first group and one of the only groups that did Nisis legit on-patch. Honestly it's kinda funny to re-watch those videos nowadays when almost everyone heralds SB as the best period for raiding in the game nowadays, meanwhile all of those world prog raiders from the ARR/HW days, 5 years ago when that video was released, were shitting on Stormblood outside of UCoB.

    As someone who's been doing savage raiding since gordias, it's both "people were worse in general" and "the raids were unreasonably tuned", which combined with how fight/class design didn't have the "full uptime" mantra as much as raid design does nowadays, got kinda bad sometimes. It's worth mentioning that A3S is one of the few savage fights in the game that's actually been nerfed after being current, because where other fights were easy enough to go back to with OP gear and clear easily, A3S was still really obnoxious (even with just midas gear, it was very easy to get a group of buds together to stomp A4S for the mount because it was real easy to teach, A3S was still a pain though). A4S was tuned to higher numbers, but honestly it was much easier mechanically than A3S originally was. WRT machinist being harder back then, I think the main thing was that their DPS stance required them to stand still to cast (same as BRD), which made certain mechanics that are laughable now much more annoying back then (for example, the tiny AoEs that show up on 4th leg of A4S when you're killing dolls + trying to feed), because HW era was a lot more limited in regards to ranged movement options. I can't really say anything WRT 2nd coils though because while I did do them in HW, I didn't do them back when they were current. edit: Also, I know you don't like "potency creep" as a response because it doesn't really change mechanics, but potency creep has actually affected how these encounters play out. Because they're not just HP sponges like nowadays and had actual DPS check phases (hand of pain+healer hand in a3s, dolls in a4s), there was more consideration needed about which cooldowns you would save for certain DPS checks, what your group could afford, how that would affect group alignment for group buffs on the main boss+your rotation, etc. But nowadays this doesn't really exist, because you can just stick to your standard 2min rotation regardless + burn the things down anyway, which reduces some of the necessary braincells.

      Yeah as much as I wanted to, there's no way for me who just started in 6.4 can understand the dps check feeling back then. Even in P12S I don't think there's a tight dps check, the only reason why I see enrage after enrage is just people dying before the last mech. Just unfortunate circumstances.

      @@fanazador fwiw, in 6.2 P8S there was a ridiculous dps check for the first phase (during week 1 I would say it was likely a harder check than a3s) before that got nerfed, but even then that didn't have the same burst considerations (since you just stuck to your 2min rotations+no burst phases until phase 2, which wasn't as bad) so it's not quite the same. TOP in 6.3 was a bit closer though because you had to make decisions across phases about cooldowns/holding at points, though even there the gear creep's making that a nonissue already. So comparing TOP to Gordias you can still see almost-similar levels of DPS checks happening in the game nowadays every once in a blue moon, but I think it's telling how much of the playerbase thought that TOP's difficulty was a mistake (even after loving DSR), lmao. So who knows, there's hope yet of them slipping up again and making a fight accidentally too hard again like P8S in Dawntrail.

      @@tciddados Yeah I heard a lot of things about P8S kinda sad that I missed it. Maybe TOP can help me understand it a bit better. Altho that one is also late since dawn trail is coming out soon so even if I clear it people are just gonna downplay it since I didn't clear it on content, which sucks. I mean to be fair, I do agree with dps checkwise it become easier but I guess what I wanted to convey is dps check and mechanic check is 2 separate aspect of raiding. Yes the fight is easier to clear, I can agree with that statement, but unless dev literally nerfed/change the mechanic we new player still have to do the same mechanic (potentially slight different solution) so mechanic check wise there's no different unless the potency bloat is so stupid that we skip it (A5S for example) My issue is with the sentiment of people saying "oh yeah you can do older content blindfolded since it's so easy now with damage potency bloat, who cares" which I don't think is true at all. Yes it's easier but we're not plowing through the fight like it's nothing. I think it's healthier if we just celebrate the accomplishment instead of downplaying it. That's just my take.

    Unless you played the game when TP was around, and other very restrictive mechanics, playing the older fights doesn't mean anything since you cannot experience them like they were intended.

    arr was when ffxiv actually felt like a mmorpg. the game has jsut been copy pasted formula for like 10 years now. Also im not talking about story... fucxk that shit. Im talking it still had remnants of 1.0. Jobs were distinct... Hunts were new, we got 2 new dungeons and 1 hard mode so 3 dugneons per patch and 2 trails(1 new and 1 extreme). The fates had meaning... like Vendor NPC would be kidnapped and odd 1 off fates could be triggered to rescue that vendor back. Yosheep would of never created shit that cool without the inspiration the devs still had from FFXI.1.0. Like sylph tribes dailys were actually challenging and sometimes you had to rely on people in the zone. Bro i quit in stormblood. thats when i really was like this yosheep is jsut copy and pasting the content and people praise his bitch ass all because of the story and his 1 trick pony success story 10 years later(because nothing new and exciting has happened in current XIV) about how he revived a game. The game hasnt felt like a mmorpg since 2.x... that was the best time to play trust me. maybe 3.x HW comes close or can beat it in ways... The real problem and one that your video addresses more is gating content through main story. FFXI did this so much better.. it had story but made you a no name adventurer like everyone else so it was player driven and storys could be done in a variety of order. Making you and evryone around you the main hero is fuckng lame... and creates a problem but the big one is the game is just too long and centered on story like its a single player jrpg. wtf? ffxi was so much better when it came to being a "mmorpg". wasnt just a single player game thats online

      The story does take a lot of time. ARR story was mostly boring, and it was repeatedly getting more interesting with each major expansion, shadowbringers and endwalker having some extremely interesting story and plot points being revealed. Stop worrying so much about getting to the end. Good MMORPGs have never been about getting to the end. The MMORPG is a genre about progression, social, and adventure. The way I approached it was enjoy the good parts of the story, skip cutscenes for the bad parts. Typically, post-MSQ patches were slow parts, main MSQ patches had many good parts. As far as copy-paste goes, sounds like you're talking about the generic "oh big bad evil guy, go defeat him and save the world". Which yea, it exists. WoW technically started doing that since Burning Crusade, even if players weren't exactly pushed into it. What is the content going to be if not something along those lines? As far as "you're the hero", yea fair enough. Actually agree with you, "you're the hero" stories are better suited for singleplayer games rather than multiplayer. But at the end of the day, it doesn't make FFXIV bad. As far content being hard or easy. I recall seeing a video or something about that. Apparently the FFXIV team also thinks content has been getting too easy in the general game and not-current patches and wants to make things more challenging. If I recall correctly at least...

Its almost like hes trying to bring back the core FFXI/1.0/2.x fanbase that left because they didnt like his idea of a mmorpg. Too bad its prolly too late too little and most of them went back to ffxi/private servers. But seriously ffxiv has failed me as a mmorpg and i htings dont truly shake up this new expansion... I dont think ill ever touch ffxiv again for ever,

      @@tylerbreau4544 also... ffxiv has no prgression, adventure , socialization unless its player made content. gear/hardwork resets every 6 months. The open world is strictly a backdrop for the story, and socialization isnt forced in the slightest... maybe for a high end raid but thats it. Even then the mechanics are re used so you can tell what they are from what icons are showing on the boss/players. also are dungeons still jsut hallways to circle/square arenas. atleast 1.0 wasnt linear and different paths and bosses could be chosen for different rewards encouraging socialzing with th party where to go.

    We are having these types of issues in our semi static raid group for destiny 2. Our Raid Lead does not pick up the slack. He is a fantastic player and very knowledgeable, but the petty shit kills our group. Means people fighting over petty shit. It's his Discord, tho. So I don't know how to go about it. I want our group to stay because I like the people, but if nothing gets done then I am wasting my Time. Don't get me wrong, I did my fair share of Bullshit and not performing, but at some point it's just wasted time...
