Psalm 135 - Orthodox Byzantine Chant
About this chant:
This piece is performed by the monks of Simonopetra Monastery (Mount Athos, Greece). The lyrics are from the Septuagint Greek translation of the Old Testament, written around the 2-3 century BC.
About the paintings:
In the foreground is the painting 'Saints Cyril and Methodius' (1937) by Jano Kohler. These were two brothers who were born in Thessalonica, then located in the Byzantine (today in Greece) - Cyril in about 827-828 and Methodius in about 815-820. Cyril was the youngest of seven brothers; he was born Constantine, but was given the name Cyril upon becoming a monk in Rome shortly before his death. Methodius was born Michael and was given the name Methodius upon becoming a monk in Polychron Monastery at Mysian Olympus (present-day Uludağ in northwest Turkey). These brothers are responsible for Christianizing the Danubian Slavs and for influencing the religious and cultural development of all Slavic peoples, received the title “the Apostles of the Slavs.” The brothers are said to be reverenced at the same level as the Twelve Apostles.
In the background is the painting Entry of Roger de Flor in Constantinople
by José Moreno Carbonero. Roger de Flor was born in the Kingdom of Sicily, the second son of an Italian noblewoman of Brindisi and a German falconer. At eight years old Roger was sent to sea in a galley belonging to the Knights Templars. He entered the order and became captain of a galley. After rescuing wealthy survivors during the siege of Acre by the Mamluk Sultan Al-Ashraf Khalil in 1291, he went to Cyprus. Following intrigues and personal disputes he was accused of robbery and denounced by the Pope as a thief and an apostate. This resulted in his relegation from the order. Roger fled to Genoa, where he borrowed a considerable sum of money, purchased a new vessel, and began a career in piracy. The Aragonese kings of Aragon and the French kings of Naples struggled for the possession of Sicily. At this time Roger was one of the most experienced military commanders of his time, was called to the service of Frederick, King of Sicily, who gave him the rank of vice-admiral.
Emperor Andronicus II Palaeologus of the Byzantine Empire was facing siege by the Ottoman Turks, an Islamic tribe approaching the capital of his empire after defeating his armies and ransacking most of his domains. Looking for assistance from the European kingdoms, Andronicus II made Roger an offer of service along with the Almogavar army under his command. In September 1302, Roger with his fleet and army, now known as the Catalan Company, 6,500 strong, arrived at Constantinople. He was adopted into the imperial family, married the emperor's niece Maria Asenina and made grand duke and commander-in-chief of the army.

Ave Maris Stella - Traditional Gregorian Chant
QUESTION 2: Where else we can find some IMPORTANT & TRUSTWORTHY INFORMATIONS about this TOPIC? ANSWER: = SECOND RESSOURCE: the ONE, HOLY, ROMAN, CATHOLIC, APOSTOLIC CHURCH / MYSTICAL BODY of JESUS (Eph 1:22-23; Col 1:18-20; 1 Cor 12:27; Rom 12:4-6; Col 2:19!!, Eph 4:15-16;…) with the MAGISTERIUM of the CHURCH (Mk.3:14; = a fixed point to build Magisterium of the Church/Apostles & Successors; Mk 4:33-34 = Jesus himself teaches the Apostles; He introduce them; Mattw 28:18-20;= Jesus himself offically hands over the commission to continue his magisterium with his permanent Support; Hebr 1:1-2; 1 Tim 3:15 = Church = house of living GOD; the pillar & foundation oft he TRUTH;) Let us see what this MAGISTERIUM of THE CHURCH speaks about OUR TOPIC = DEATH, EVENTS after DEATH. a) First statement about MEANING of DEATH = with DEATH the time & the POSSIBILITY of COLLECTING meritorius and punishable WORKS or to CONVERT will END. (in accordance to Mattw 25:34ff; Lk 16:19-26; Joh 9:4; 2 Cor 5:10; Gal 6:10; Rev 2:10 & Tradition of CHURCH FATHERS like Cyprian in Ad Demetr 24. De mortal 3.7.15; Chrysostomus in 1 Cor. Hom. 42,3 or Augustinus in De. Civ. Die XXI,24,5…) The Church's Magisterium foundet by JESUS, aware about HER MISSION and HER RESPONSIBILITY has taken a stand on this subject several TIMES, such as at the SYNOD of CONSTANTINOPLE in 543 AD (the EDICT of Emperor Justinian to Patriach Menas of Constantinople against the heresies of the Origines was taken into account here) and again in 553 AD, that the statements, views and doctrinal systems such as the doctrine of an Origines (punishment of ALL will come to an END in the hereafter) or the DOCTRINE of Apocastatis (restoration or conversion in the hereafter of all of DEMONS, etc.) are to REJECT with the HELP of anathemas. Furthermore, at the later economic councils (9th Century) these teachings of Origine were rejected again. In 1919, the Holy Office declared all theosophical teachings / their system incompatible with Catholic teaching. THEY must be avoided. b) A second STATEMENT of the MAGISTERIUM of the CHURCH about this TOPIC is = immediately after DEATH the SOULS of the Righteous (without of any kind of guild & punishment of SINS) enter directly into heaven and enjoy the blessed VISION of GOD. Souls who have not yet atoned for all guilt and punishment have yet to be cleansed of it in the PURGATORY. Souls who have not recognized, not repented and not confessed their GUILT / PUNISHMENT of SINS on EARTH will enter directly into HELL after DEATH. This implies that immediately after death, the soul will partake of a divine judgment, which will reward it for eternity or not - according to its life on earth.(in accordance to O.T. Jes.Sir. 1:13; = fear of GOD in earthy LIFE will bring BLESSINGS on the day of passing away, or Jes. Sir. 11:28; = GOD will evaluate your LIFE at the END of your DAYS on EARTH. But also in the N.T. through the Son of GOD Jesus we received further informations like Lk 16:19-31;Lk 23:43; Mattw 18:23-35; 25:14-30; Lk 16:1-13; 19:11-27 / and the DISCIPLES of JESUS = APOSTELS bear WITNESS on it like Rev. 12:7-12; 13:6; Act 1:25; Phil 1:19-26; 2 Cor 5:6-10; Heb 12:14-29 in accordance to Ex 19:13; Deut. 9:19; 4:24; Haggai 2:7; the Tradition of CHURCH FATHERS like Cyprian in De mortalitate 26; John Chrysostom in Matthw. hom.14,4; or Augustine in De anima et eius origine II 4,8; or Saint Jerome in Joel 2,11 tract. speaks, explains, defends and proclaims what has been recorded in Sacred Scripture and by the Magisterium of the Church.) The Church´s Magisterium thought and worked faithful to her task, who were entrusted through JESUS - the founder of the CHURCH & the MAGISTERIUM of CHURCH - to give some STATEMENTS about this TOPICS which are based on the holy SCRIPTURE and the TRADITION of the CHURCH FATHERS or previous DECISIONS of POPES, COUNCILS etc. like Pope BENEDICT XII - 1336 / dogm. Const. „ Benedictus Deus“; = The historical reason for this papal step was that erroneous opinions on this subject were cultivated in the Church itself and among others, which required a definitive clarification on the part of the Pope as the Vicar of Jesus Christ. But history shows us yet another example where, on the infallible foundation of FAITH = the revelations of the Word of God, on the TRADITION of the Church, and through the Magisterium of the Church guided by the HOLY SPIRIT, unity in FAITH was sought through a COUNCIL. First time it was at the 2nd Council of Lyon / 1274 / with Pope Gregor X. It was about unity with the GREEK CHURCH. Again some time later - 1439 - at the Council of Florence / with Pope Eugen IV. It was about the REUNION with further separated groups of the Greeks, with the Armenians, Copts, Syrians of Mesopotamia, Chaldeans & Maronites of Cyprus. Unity was successfully achieved by adherence to the common revealed and handed down DEPOSIT of FAITH. > This EXAMPLE shows HOW the MAGISTERIUM of the CHURCH understood itself and HOW it WORKED and HANDLED TEACHINGS, which are againt THEIR OWN SOURCES of FAITH like HOLY SCRIPTURE, TRADITION of the CHURCH FATHERS or previous DECISIONS of SYNODS, COUNCILS etc. Let us take another look at Jesus sense of MISSION, which he communicated 1:1 to his SUCCESSORS = APOSTLES, his VICAR here on earth = Peter and the SUCCESSORS. a) Mission of Jesus = fullfill the PROPHECY of the OLD TESTAMENT > Just as JESUS was aware that He was SENT into the world by God the Father to complete the statements of the Old Testament (hinted at in Dt 18:15; according to Joh 1:45; 6:14; Hebr 1:1-4; Act 3:17-23; or Joh 8:12; 8:40; 12:46; 14:6-7; 18:37; Joh 13:13; Mattw 23:10; ) and NOT to cancel them or even NOT to claim the opposite, so He passed on this sense of mission; b) Mission of JESUS = Mission of the CHURCH/APOSTLES & their SUCCESSORS > This understanding of His MISSION and thus also the MINISTRY of TEACHING to His DISCIPLES/APOSTLES (Mattw 28:18-20;Mk 16:15-16; Mattw 20:28; in accordance to Mk 10:45; or Saint Paul in 1 Tim 2:4-7; Rom 3:21-26; 2 Tim 1:6-11;) and their SUCCESSORS are entrusted them to imitate Him (Joh 20:21-23; Lk 10:16; 1 Thess 4:2;6; Mattw 26:26; = Lk 22:19-20; ; Joh 14:11; Joh 10:14-18;). Jesus - Apostel - Successors & their community (Eph 1:17-23; = Col 1:18.20; = 1 Cor 12:27 according to Joh 15:1-11; Joh 17:20-26; Mattw 4:18-22; Mk 1:16-22;/ Lk 10:1-12; Mattw 16:18-20; / Joh 21:15-17; 17:18; 20:21; = purpose Joh 10:10; Lk 19:10;) Apostel = Successors should be (1 Cor 4:1-5; 2 Cor 5:18-21;…) OUR WAY to THINK, ACT and REACT should be LIKE MARY, MOTHER of JESUS. SHE tried to recognize, to understand, to bring GOD´s WILL in APPLICATION in her daily LIFE. We should not underestimate HERE FUNKTICTION and POSITION in the HISTORY of MANKIND. (Gen 3:15; Rev 12:1-16; LK 1:26-38; = Let it be done to me according to your word! = one of her MOST IMPORTANT STATEMENTS) MARY will help YOU to MOVE forward on your JOURNEY to YOUR DESTINY = HEAVEN.
GOD bless your efforts...inspiring Video Content for SOUL & SENSE of the BODY (ear, eyes)... some further reflections about the TOPIC of LIFE, LIFE-TIME of HUMAN BEINGS and JESUS our SAVIOUR, REDEEMER, KING of HEAVEN and EARTH and the JUDGE of the whole MANKIND.... QUESTION 1: Are there some informations about what will happen immediatly after we have closed our eyes and what will happen as soon as our soul leaves our body? ANSWER: SIGNIFICANS of DEATH & his EVENTS after LEAVING EARTH are REVEALED to US from OUR CREATOR = GOD! One DAY every human being will be confronted with the event of death = saying goodbye to the earth, to his family and to his social environment. So it is appropriate - especially in the month of November, in which we commemorate our deceased - to think about the SIGNIFICANCE of DEATH. We have seen that death according to the wisdom, omnipotence, love, justice and mercy of God is a punitive CONSEQUENCE of the original sin of the first human beings (Adam/Eve), so we want to continue to search in the Holy Scriptures / Bible / Revelations of God / Magisterium & Tradition = Guardians, Defenders and Mediators of the Depositum fidei - what MEANING does death have here on EARTH in relation to the status of pilgrimage /life journey of man. FIRST & MAJOR RESSOURCE = HOLY SCRIPTURES = OLD & NEW TESTAMENT = WORD of GOD If we walk through the BOOKS of the Holy Scriptures, we see that already in the Old Testament (Eccl/Kohel. 9:5-6; 9:10;) it is said FIRST that with the DEATH here on EARTH the state of human's pilgrimage has reached its END POINT and enters into a NEW STATE, namely the state of eternity, and SECOND the POSSIBILITY of doing both good WORKS and bad/sinful WORKS has stopped. The dying creature of God is going through a transitional phase like (used metapher = door) when someone stands in front of a locked DOOR but opens it and walks through it and finds themselves in new space and leaves everything behind that was before, EXCEPT the (good/bad) work that ACCOMPANY him as a so called „TRAVEL BAG“ and he starts into his future, final and irrevocable STATE Three OPPORTUNITIES: a) of immediate reward (HEAVEN = Matthw 22:1-14; according to Matthw 25:1-13; Lk 14:15-24; according to Joh 17:3; 3:16; 19-21;35-36; Matthw 5:8; Rom 2:6-7; or Rev 7:9-17;) b) or the postponement of eternal reward due to various debts (small, unintentionally sinful acts…), which still have to be repaid (PURGATORY = O.T. 2 Makk 12:42-46; N.T. Matthw 12:32 = forgiveness is possible on EARTH & after DEATH; according to 1 Cor 3:10-15; Matthw 5:26;…) c) or define immediate punishment (HELL) (Jes.Sir. 1:13; 11:28;...Wisdom 3:10; 4:18-20;6:2-12;…Words of Jesus Matthw 5:27-30 = evaluation of life will come; same with 10:28; 23:14-15; 33; Mk 9:42-49; Matthw 13:36-43; 50;…) Jesus picks up the revealed truths of the Old Testament (Joh 14:6; 12:46-50; Mattw 5:17-20; Joh 1:4-5/9-10 according to O.T. Prov. 8:1-36; Eccls/Jes.Sir. 24:5-23; Is 44:1-2/6;18;24-28;) and tries to bring even more light / clarity into the dark world of the knowledge of human - weakend by original sin (Eph 4:17-24; Joh 8:31-47; Rom 1:1-23; Joh 3:1-15;16-21; 1 Joh 3:4-8 = Gen 2:1-6;) - in order to bring these eternal, unchangeable and undeniable truths / facts into the course of the human life cycle. Jesus VARIETY of PARABLES First APPROACH of additional information, which should help the CREATURE of God (addressed to every human being) to understand that the PILGRIMAGE here on EARTH is a time of self-proofing, a PERIOD of TIME in which you organize your own future (eternal life) by the QUALITY of your own thoughts, words, actions, which will be evaluated immediatly after DEATH. a) is e.g. the PARABLE of the POOR LAZARUS and the RICH MAN (Lk 16:19-31;) or Lk 23:43 = WORDS of JESUS to the criminal man at the CROSS on the right side; in accordance to 2 Cor 5:6;9-10 words of Saint Paul. - (How do you use your goods = your lifetime, your skills, your property etc.? Only for yourself or also for your fellow human beings because of your love for Gods CREATURES? Do your regreat your false bad behaviour) b) or the PARABLE of the FOOLISH & WISE VIRGINS who wait for the bridegroom's arrival (Matthew 25:1-13;) (How do you use the gift of life here on earth? Does it have a dimension that goes beyond death? A dimension that is oriented towards the arrival of the bridegroom = Jesus / his meeting with you after your death here on earth? Are you acting wisely or foolishly?) c) or similarly the PARABLE of the FIVE TALENTS (Matthew 25:14-30;) (How do I shape my life here on earth, which is a gift from God, with which I can determine the future myself? Am I one of those who go through their earthly existence with a view to God, to His commandments, to His divine will, to the Church founded by His Son Jesus and the deposit of faith entrusted to it, or am I the one who travels with countless excuses deliberately not wanting to hear and not wanting to see?). JESUS himself shows us that it is CERTAIN, it is UNDENIABLY & indissoluble, that at the END of our earthly LIFE and also at the END of TIME we will be confronted with some EVALUATION of our life by Him/Jesus Christ (Matthew 25:31-46; according to Joh 9:4 or Gal 6:7-10; Rev 2:10; 2 Cor 5:6-10;). The first EVENT will be called PERSONAL JUDGMENT - immediatly after your personal death - and the SECOND the WORLD JUDGMENT (2 Thess 4:13-18; Mattw 13:24-30;) d) Or the PARABLE of THE UNMERCIFUL SERVANT (Matthw 18:23-35; according to LK 16:1-9; parable oft he shrewd Manager; or LK 19:11-27 parable of the ten MINAS…)

Weh! Was werd ich Armer sagen? Welchen Anwalt mir erfragen, Wenn Gerechte selbst verzagen? Amen.
Amen

Is it not a heresy to draw the Father?
The short answer is no. For the Latin Church, there has never been any official teaching or dogma that condemns the depiction of God the Father. In the Eastern churches, things get more complicated, but the only Church that has ever issued an official teaching condemning the practice is the Russian Orthodox. Other Eastern churches are just kinda shy away from it but never explicitly prohibit it. There are plenty of Icons (from the ordinary ones to those which are drawn on Churches' walls and ceilings) depicting God the Father in the Latin AND Eastern churches. In fact, prior to the ban in the Russian Orthodox (which was fairly late in the 17th century), Icons of the Father were so prevalent that they had their own name: "Lord Sabaoth". But the strange thing is that even after the ban, Icons of the Father still appeared in the Russian churches. "Our Lady of Port Arthur" and "Our Lady of Derzhavnaya" Icons both appeared after the 17th century. Both were associated with miracles, and both had the depiction of God the Father, so, yeah.
@DeusVult1711 Wow. Thank you a lot for the information. I take it you must be Catholic so it's very interesting to get your point of view. As an Orthodox, I thought that during the times when the iconoclastic dogma was being debated, it was debunked through the argument that, since Jesus became man and thus came on earth with a physical form, He could be depicted. This, however, does not apply to the Father nor the Holy Spirit. So, in other words, even if they are sometimes depicted in churches, are they still not a heresy, or do you have a good argument to defend icons of the Father. Thanks again for the info. May God bless you and your family and friends ☦️
@mars4105 I'm not well versed in theology, so I can't really give you a good theological argument. But from what I've heard, and please excuse my wording as I could only explain it in a way I understand :"): Since Jesus Christ is, in a way, a Living Icon of God the Father, so we kinda "see" the Father through the Son. And depicting God the Father, usually as an older version of Christ, is not meant to be literally but as a way to convey the "superior origin" that the Father has over the Son (I probably said a hersy regarding the nature of the Trinity there :v, but I hope you know where I'm going for). I know there were some Saints advice against it, Saint Theodore pop in my mind for an example, but then again, there's no universal binding teaching / dogma on both East and West, so I can't say it's a heresy. But even if it is, then the churches who still have Icons of God the Father are going against the faith, which kinda opens up lots of problems since those churches, both East and West, do not look like they're going to change it anytime soon. Moreover, things with the 2 Russian Icons I mentioned above would be... complicated for the Russian Church if it's indeed a heresy.

Gregorian chant is even better than other church music because of it’s deepness and uncompromising truth. With other Catholic hymns you can sometimes relate the music to worldly songs, not so Gregorian chant! It is the least protestant of all music.
Haunting and beautiful… I can feel a higher a higher power looking down on me

I don't know if the connotations of words in the Italian language makes this song come off as powerful and strong, but in English, the lyrics are just so cute.

Finding this after the sudden and unexpected passing of our Fr. Dan Reilly of St. Bonaventure University. He is truly a beloved member of our community and will be missed dearly. I know that this is something he was singing in his mind, body and heart as he embraced Sister Death. Love you Fr. Dan 💔
