Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Symphony was mistakenly labelled as “Op. 18” in the video (which is actually his second concerto), it is actually his Op. 27.

I’ve been watching classical compilations like this for over a decade on TH-cam and you guys have done it PERFECTLY. The narration was just enough and not too much, and the segments were given enough time to really indulge in the finales. Thank you so much for these two videos!
Thank you so much, we're glad you enjoyed it!
Sibelius 2 ftw.
I really love this video and list. However, without the finale of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, there really is no way to show how monumental the form can become. Beethoven is, without question, the master of the symphony. He perfected the form with 9 entries. Most musicologists will tell you that the 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 9th are all contenders for the top ten if not just immediately placed in the top ten. The 3rd (Eroica) is probably the greatest single symphony ever written and, again, most musicologists think it’s THE symphony that changed music forever.
Thank you so much! Of course we couldn't leave Beethoven out, he's in our second video! th-cam.com/video/eu-RP2G41_0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wdfuybYDdgT2aMFD&t=1m16s
Wooow, I have actually played the tchaikovsky 4th symphony with this orchestra, Oslo Philharmonics.
Wow, what an honor! What part did you play?
First violin. Very fun!!! It was part of a Norwegian youth project, where the nations best young musicians get to sit next to an individual member of the orchestra. We played the whole thing.
During the Finale of Bruckner 4 (or any other piece of serious music) there is only one fucking rule: don't interrupt it by make a noise. Well done, you failed and I question your sincerity about this music. I don't even want to know about your table manners.
Alright man, if you want to listen to the finale of Bruckner 4 without someone quote-unquote, “interrupt it by make a noise”, I sincerely suggest you read the video’s description before proceeding to express your thoughts in this manner. If I’m going to be honest, I don’t even want to know how your English teacher manages to tolerate you.
Mahler 8 not being on here is heresey
Mozart´s 41 Haydn´s 104 Beethoven’s 5 Beethoven’s 7 Beethoven’s 9 Schubert´s 9 Mendelssohn´s 5 Schumann´s 4 Brahm’s 2 Dvorak´s 9
I was about to scream at the fact that there was no Mahler until I saw the last one and it's justified (it is mahler).
Of course, how could Mahler be left off?
While not labeled a Symphony, leaving off Mussorgsky "Baba Yaga" & "The Great Gate of Kiev" is a crime.
Watched this looking for the Tchaikovsky.
Bruckner 5 and Mozart 41!!!!
I always repeat one of the most poignant musical memories I have is listening to Mahler's 2nd for the first time. I was writing an essay in the library and decided to just try Mahler cus I'd heard of him but never really heard anything by him other than the adagio from the 5th. I put the 2nd on from the beginning and basically wasn't really listening, more focused on writing until the choral section near the end began and I literally just had to stop for a second and contemplate what in the godly shit I was hearing. From that section I was completely spell bound though to the end just sitting in the library trying not to make it obvious I was tearing up.
So many treasured finales. Let’s not forget the grand fugues employed in Mozart 41 and Bruckner 5.
Let us listen to them without the unnecessary chatter. Shut up.
I sincerely request you read the description or even the top comments before posting such thoughts. Thank you, and have a great day
No Mozart Jupiter ending ?
That will be in the third video!
Dvorak /ˈdvɔːræk/ ⓘ[1] is a keyboard layout for English patented in 1936 by August Dvorak and his brother-in-law, William Dealey, as a faster and more ergonomic alternative to the QWERTY layout (the de facto standard keyboard layout). Dvorak proponents claim that it requires less finger motion[2] and as a result reduces errors, increases typing speed, reduces repetitive strain injuries,[3] or is simply more comfortable than QWERTY.[
Yeah but what about a lip trill
Shostakovich 's Symphony 12 Finale is "for me" one of the greatest.
Excellent! And thank you for no voiceovers. 🙂
Naturally love the list but especially impressed with the chosen recordings! Include Kallinikov g-min in video 3!
Thank you, these recordings are really great! Also thanks for the suggestion!
dvorak no 9 is my favorite piece
Where Are the 5 and 9 Symphony of Beethoven????!!!!
Wonderful collection. Nothing tops Mahler. It has taken over a century for his monumental works to receive their rightful renown. He to me is the king of the symphonists.
Thank you for this. It broadened my knowledge and senses with new music and experiences. Keep them coming please.
Thank you for watching, glad we could help you!
Omg it’s so akward to trill B natural on clarinet. Idk who will get it but it’s like you’re fingering your instrument 😅😅
Cut the commentary. The music speaks for itself.
Stop the commentary so we can enjoy the music, please!!!!!
For someone like me who likes instruments, it's worth giving a sub to the channel, keep up the good work!
Thank you so much!
@@obsidianmusic303 no problem👍
BRAVO!!!!!
4:10 - Andrés Orozco-Estrada is very happy with that 5- 6 chord. 4:19. Andrés Orozco-Estrada is even happier with that perfect chord.
On trumpet I like to use my left hand to trill, even though you’re not supposed to. I’m left hand dominant and it helps me trill much faster if necesssary.
If you are left handed, that does makes more sense. Right handed french horn players might be in trouble though!
Have you ever looked into a left handed trumpet? They actually cost the same as a normal one too!
@@-MACH-WOOD I’ve been playing a right handed one for 5 years, and playing it normally is completely fine. It’s just doing trills that I have trouble with.
@@Darnedkev I know... I'm saying you should look into a left handed trumpet. They cost the same as a normal one.
The last time a kid literally just took apart the whole music stand💀
Ohhh, that’s not cool kid :(
With ALL RESPECT i have to: The best reference as Coda's Finale is Bruckner's 8th in 1990, Tokyo, by Munich Philarmonik Orchestra Conducting Chelibidache. In this rendition the Fuga Quadruple with counterpunt is develop with all his majestic meaning. FACT: "Apocaliptic" is just a vulgar nickname given to such a majestic Opus.
Clarinets with the 4 whammy bars
Don't saw the trombone, lip trill it
This video is for comedic purposes; I’m still working on lip trills!
@@obsidianmusic303 I know, I was trying to make a joke, really bad at reading people and such tho, sorry!
@@Zero-ou3hg It’s ok! Sawing the trombone is a great way to put it 😆
i got several of my firends w/ this (& im a pretty infamous rickroller among my friend group lol)
😂
Check out the ending of David Diamond's 2nd symphony. The coda is pure adrenalin.
Ooh, thanks for the recommendation!
I just went to a concert of Verdi's Requiem and i found out that in person, the bass drums are 10x louder than on the recordings. I can only imagine what the Mahler Hammer would sound like in person.
Verdi’s Requiem is epic! I would love to go to a live concert of that and Mahler 6, no amount of cameras and microphones can do it justice!
@@obsidianmusic303 Yes, absolutely
I just got rickrolled in the smartest way
Thank you 😊
On horn we do lip trills, not finger trills. At least most of the time
That’s the case for trombones as well, it’s just a lot harder to do
No Brucker 8th???
In our second video here! th-cam.com/video/eu-RP2G41_0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zN2e8KnbO5arr068&t36m40s
I am sad to admit that I cannot recognize the passage that opened this video. Can one lead me to its name? Thank you.
The work in question is our own work-in-progress first symphony! We have not completed the entire work yet, so it has not been released yet. In the future, when we finish writing it, we will release it on this channel.
Wow… looking forward to the end product.
I've been Rick rolled! I didn't suspect anything.
It worked! 😆
Brahms 1

These idiots put the ads jus brofre the end, instead of betwee parts
Unfortunately, we cannot control where the ads are placed, as we use normally copyrighted content (protected under fair use) in the video, so TH-cam automatically adds ads to the middle of the video..
Tuba
i play the clarinet and i’ll tell you, just trilling by going up an octave is the most fun thing ever- (it’s hella hard to do it though ☠️)
Fr going down too is also fun but I have enough lung compacity too 😭
It's called a tramelo
Trombone you can do F trigger and lip trills which are both fun
Yes it's very fun! I'm still working on my lip trills/shakes though... Maybe someday
@@obsidianmusic303 good luck
wow that’s cool as hell :D
Thank you :D
I think the Brahms 2nd deserves honourable mention for its final bars.
