Suzuki DR650 verses Triumph Tiger 800XC. I can only keep one.

In this Video, I am back on my DR650. I bought the Tiger 800XC to replace the old faithful Bush Pig, but I could never seem to let the Suzuki go. Now the time has come to decide which one stays, and which one goes.

I was just doing a search for Tingha dirty weekend and found you. So greetings fellow adventurer! (It was my tyre that was used in the tyre change demo.)
That nutter was sane going uphill …wait until you see them going downhill.
The UK winter gloves were on until lunchtime 😮
Great vid Dave. Looked very 🥶
Unreal dave! Can’t wait for part 2 mate.
Awesome vid Dave ❤
Thanks, you missed a great ride. Next time????
Awesome video keen for part 2 Dave!!!
coming soon👍👍
Very good Mr Burgo 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it. I hope to see you on the next overnighter. 😁
Glad the mod was successful I'd like to do the same but I'm having trouble locating a suitable spring for my weight (85kg with riding gear), The Adventure bike Australia website suggests a 7.5 kg spring but they only have 9 kg springs in stock due to supply problems. Can you let me know where you got your spring from?
Adventure bike Australia. Have you contacted Vince Strang??
Sorted, just ordered it from teknik.
@@desmoore611 are you revealing at the same time???? I am doing the mods one step at a time, but already have a new piston and valving for the shock. Will be fitting as soon as.
I know the recommendation is to revalve the shock but I don't do any off road work. I'm mainly on dirt roads so I can probably get by with a slightly stiffer spring to compensate for 10-15 kg of luggage that I take when camping. If the spring change doesn't work i will consider revalving.
@@desmoore611 You should be OK with just the spring then.👍
Belle aventure!
You kept the best bike IMHO 👍🏻
I think you are right 👍
Listening to you I’m surprised with what you sold..
I know, I'm thinking the same. 😳
@@burgomoto1702 Which one did you sell? I've been thinking about replacing my 800xc with the DR since I'm a shorter rider and would feel more confident/comfortable with it's seat height, including it being lighter weight and easy to work on. I do love the power of the triumph on the street though!
@@confusingdot I kept the DR. The Tiger was great and I miss the comfort and didn't realise how good it was on gravel roads. The DR is so much more nervous. Still working on its suspension though.
Don’t know what year your Tiger is but I had the opportunity to ride an XCX over what you did and more Offroad, say like an east 4wd track and it was very good. Then the commute via tar to hone was excellent. The only downside I could see in what you just did is that the Tiger air filter is a good one hour job when you’re eating dust like that. Luckily Triumph use a great oil impregnated paper element which catches everything. Still a nice quick release under seat foam filter is the best.
Tiger is a 2013. Ride it on everything including single track. If I was only riding gravel roads, the Tiger would be the one.
@@burgomoto1702 cool. Sounds like you have your answer.
Ta very mucha.
Great vid Dave thanks for taking the time to put it together it was just like being there again 😁🤟❤️
No worries, see you out there soon.
Looks like fibula fracture , not femur.
Yes sorry, biology was never my strong point. Did well to get the first letter right.
Just one of those days Dave. You have to expect em, eh.
Probably need better suspension maybe a KTM 😂
I did think that, not sure how anything would cope already being compressed. Might have to speak to my old mate Ken Summerton.
@@burgomoto1702 maybe limitations of the stock suspension combined with the weight of bike & unavoidable, unless you had the front wheel ‘floating’ in a semi wheelie as you hit rough stuff?
WTF happened there, everything looked fine. Bit hard to see the track surface in vid.
I will add a slow mo. Bit unlucky really.
Oh dear oh dear!!
Great video Mate 😀
Thanks
Fun day 👌😄. No video of me passing you? 🤣
I almost didn’t recognise the accent at first……. until you went past that cyclist. 😆
Great Vid :)
Great ride mate. Glad it all worked out.
Great video Mate 👍
Good capture of the forest that I didn’t really convey. Watching that brought the nightmares back 😂 My version of the ride : th-cam.com/video/zqsnEUN60DM/w-d-xo.html
Character building : )
What tyre are you running on the front of your Tiger? I have a Karoo 3 on the front and a Motoz Tractionator on the rear of my 15 XCX. Good riding down that way, have done it many times. Cheers.
They are MotoZ Tractionator Adventure front and rear. Both quite worn. Yes i love riding down that way. I need to do more exploring and a few more overnighters. Cheers.
@@burgomoto1702 Thanks. Going to be down that way soon doing an o/nighter to Tenterfield.
