i hate to burst your bubble here man, but that IS NOT a mole. trust me. i trap moles for a living. what you caught was a 'LEAST SHREW". shrews like to run mole tunnels looking for food. especially abandoned tunnels. and its obviously late fall or winter in your video. moles go deep i winter. 18-24 inches deep. your mole is likley down deep feasting while you play with tomato cans.
This is a great idea! Time to go to Wally World and get the supplies! For faster results, put a worm in the can, moles can hear/smell them. I lost $70 in worms to the moles in my compost maker. I know that sounds crazy but I had 2000 red wigglers eaten by moles.
Wonderful job on your creation of a mole trap! I got big mole problem and will make your trap in my yard. Virginia is nice - North Carolina is not that far away; where I live.
I have tried this but the mole keeps filling the can with soil! What am I doing wrong? I’ve almost a dozen buried pots now and he keeps filling them…. Can you help please. I have a completely destroyed garden and my food crops are ruined. Thank you 🙏
This is not a mole and moles are too smart to drop into a dark hole, what they will do is turn around and fill the can with dirt so there is not a drop off in their tunnel so that they can cross over.
They are different species than I have here in the US Northern Ca. Ours are a little bigger and have wide large front feet! The video was informative and funny too. I will try your method so I can relocate as you did.
i think what he actually caught was a shrew or a field mouse! moles in the USA are what you described, but they also need food every few hours or they will die. if you really want to make sure it is alive when you catch it you should put a few worms in the bucket too :-D
Great video! What a simple solution. I’m going to try this soon. By the way, what do you think is the best way to catch a mouse in the house without killing it? I’d love to see that video. Cheers!

HAHAHAH INTERROGATE HIM SIR!
You have to watch too, some varieties of shrew can have a venomous bit… It won’t kill you, but it will be painful.
Your the best thank you for showing how to catch and release these creatures
