Chronic Relapser, DUI's to Long Term Sobriety | EP 72
In Episode 72 of the "Fuck the Stigma" podcast, host Laisha Martinez sits down with Jimmy from the H.O.F.F.A. Foundation to share his inspiring journey of resilience and transformation. Jimmy opens up about his experience in the music industry, where the fast-paced lifestyle and widespread substance use played a significant role in his struggles with addiction. He discusses the challenges of chronic relapse, the toll it took on his life, and what ultimately helped him achieve long-term sobriety. Jimmy also shares how these experiences inspired him to create the H.O.F.F.A. Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting others in their recovery journeys. This episode offers a raw and honest look at the intersection of addiction and the music scene, the power of persistence, and the importance of community in overcoming life’s toughest challenges.

Fuck the Stigma is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that believes people shouldn’t be judged or labeled based on their mental health status. Whether you are struggling with an addiction or have been taking meds for a diagnosis, our community doesn’t judge and seeks to collectively end the stigma around mental health.
Our mission is to normalize mental health and mental illness as widespread, treatable, and acceptable. We do this by providing useful resources, improving access to services for those who need help, sharing stories, and building a community of young people who all agree…

Yeah well it happens. Either you caused it or you didnt and if you didnt then thats on them. I lost my brother to drugs and he was 22. But i never blamed myself. I tried to help and he didnt want the help but also admitted multiple times he wanted to die doing drugs. Then its not suicide.

pushing big pharma on the youth is despicable.. these "medicines" are only masking the symptoms while causing more harm and issues. true medicine that actually heals is found in nature, or like mainstream likes to call it, the alternatives. they don't want to heal you, because they want you coming back every month. a healed patient is a lost patient.

I'm not an alcoholic, but I know that when someone who has been one and says, proudly, "I'm not in AA, but don't drink anymore," that they're what is known as a "dry drunk." They don't want to admit that theyre alocholics. They don't want to do the hard work to make the real change. It's a sad, hypocritical (lying ot themselves) and lonely path that usually ends in...drinking. So please don't try to pass that off as "recovered" if you are "controlling" your drinking.

It's so sad that they both have this idea that they don't have a culture. They do, the richest culture in the known world, they just seem to hate acknowledging it. That's sad. Otherwise a very interesting inside look at how young people set themselves adrift and then find themselves again.

I just can't get it that how well he disguised his own pain. He could never see how good he was to millions of people, the pain and self loathing clouded him so heavily. I just hope that this particular part of his life was not the part of the reason he decided to end it and if people think that we shouldn't remember him of what he decided to do, I understand his decision little better.
