Emanuele Leonida Serraino
Italy
Born in Rome, Emanuele Serraino completed classical studies, graduating Sciences of Architecture and the City at the Faculty of Architecture of Rome "Valle Giulia". In 2012, he accidentally came across a new reflex that never left, almost like a pen with which he writes stories, his camera became "all that he can't say". From that moment, photography becomes a vital organ of his life, the only way to express himself. Photography becomes the instrument to discover the world, Rome and his own personality. In June 2019 he published a book "Racconti Romani" about his extensive photography of Rome. During the same year, he was invited by the association "Modeoverture" to exhibit his works in a personal exhibition in France called "Voyage Rome Paris", where ninety-five of his photographs taken between Rome and Paris were exhibited.
Rome in the rainfall (BMPCC4k + Iper 16 X2 Anamorphic)
Recorded handheld with a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k, in BRAW, at 2880x2160 (2.8 Anamorphic).
I filmed both with a SpeedBooster and an Ef to M4/3 adapter.
With the Speedboster, because of the wider angle, there is an noticeable vignetting. I think that is not a big deal, especially at night and, in my view, it creates an image with even more character.
The clamp is not fully compatible with the anamorphic lens and I secured it raggedly to the latter, therefore the footage leans sometime to one side.
Desqueezed in Cinema Scope and color graded, using as a base the Kodak 2383 film print emulation lut, with Davinci Resolve.
Optics: Iper 16 X2 Anamorphic
Helios 44-2 (used as taking lens)
Lens Clamp: Rafcamera 52.5mm to M49x0.75 male
Speed booster: Metabones Canon EF Lens to BMCC T 0.64x
Lens adapter: K&F Ef to M4/3

I can't choose a video segment and a camera that would be better out of these three. They all look great.
Thank you :) In my opinion the BMCC 2.5k it's better but, to be honest, on TH-cam the difference is not very noticeable. I still have to figure out how to make a better upload. However, as I specified in the description, it's an imprecise comparison because the footage is not from the same day. Anyway, I'm almost sure that the BPCC4k, in terms of character, has something less than the other two.

Phenomenal. Cinematic. and which camera in your experience looks more organic and filmy? bmpcc4k / bmcc 2.5k / Canon EOS M / bmcc 4k production ?
I appreciate your kind comments :) Personally I think that the bmcc 2.5k has a special character and it is the winner. The Eos M, used at 1080p is magical, it suffers from aliazing but given his small size, it is the one that you can always put in your backpack. The Bmcc 4k it is sharper and the least organic in my opinion. I never tried the bmcc 4k production so I wouldn't know.
@@emanueleserraino This is interesting, because many people choose Canon M because of the form factor in order to create an installation that looks like a 16mm movie camera. But I think that if you attach a convenient handle to the bmcc 2.5k from below, and put an optical eyecup on the monitor, you will get an interesting and stylish film camera.
@@IlyaPodnebesmiy It looks like a cool idea, I never thought about it :) Thank you.
Wooow this looks really beautiful and like a movie. Davinci code or something ^^ Whats the trick? The lens, magic lantern or the environment?
Hello, that's so kind of you:) Is the uinion of the three I guess. I would add also the camera movements and the Raw development. That said, apart from aliazing, Magic Lantern on the Eos M is phenomenal.
Wow 1600 iso?

How do you manage to keep everything in focus with no AF? Do you just stick to a wide aperture?
@@trent1847 Hello, It's captured mostly with a 16mm focused on infinity. The aperture, since I was trying to retain the details in the sun, was quite small; that means more depth of field. Hope It makes sense :)

Ciao! Grazie, tutorial molto utile.
Buona serata :)
@@emanueleserraino ti ringrazio ancora. Buona serata!
Nice video, keep posting video about bmmc 2.5 k. BTW did you get the mft or EF version?
Thank you very much:) I've captured quite a lot of footage wich I hope to share soon. I love the feeling of using this camera wich, from my personal experience, compared to the new sisters, gives a richer and e softer image, as well as being much heavier; so easier to use both handheld and on a Steadycam. Mine is the Ef version :)

Frame rate ? Shutter speed ??
Hello, is recorded at 24 fps and 1/50 shutter speed.
Good work
Glad you liked it :)
I like this film, it looks like no noise. Could you share what setting on Temporal NR value in DaVinci Resolve? Because I can see how much noisy at 10bit or over ISO 800.
I'm sorry, I can't access anymore to the project file of this video. Anyway, concerning the night scenes, I think I used 2 frames and Motion Estimation set to "Better"; Temporal Treshold around 10 for both Chroma and Luma Channels. Lastly, in the Spatial Treshold tab, I unlinked the Chroma and Luma channels so as to increase only the Chroma slider and reduce the noise in the colors while preserving the image sharpness.

Beautiful shots ! How do you get smooth shots like this ? Do you use stabilizers ?

superb! love the the music and the cinematic color!
Thanks so much, I'm glad you liked the colors :) The music is a masterpiece of Maurice Jarre , the main theme of Lawrence of Arabia.
Great work! Did you hand held or used a gimbal?
Thank you Paolo. I used a Steadycam as a beginner :)
What was the iso there at night? Did you keep it at 100?
I raised it up to 1600 in the last scenes.
Awsom 👍Was surprised it's only 1080..
Thank you :) It works pretty well and it's reliable.
How did you find 1080p mode in regards to Aliasing and moire? Tempted to use this mode, but I read it's susceptible to aliasing and moire. Many thanks!
Hi Joshua, :) I like it primarily because the files are lighter and more manageable. In order to minimize the aliasing and moire you need to use very wide apertures. Alternatively I suggest you to use the 5k frtp mode which is cleaner but it can give some troubles while panning with the camera :)
