Tonex One & HX Stomp Hybrid-Powered Custom Pedal Board
มุมมอง 7K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
I have been using my Tonex Pedal for about a year, and recently, the tiny Tonex One was released. And I planned to design a mini pedal board that fits perfectly in my Mono Tick 2 bag. I happened to have a huge Xiaomi power bank, which I originally bought for my MacBook. Some people said I could use it for a pedal board, so I bought two 5V-to-9V voltage boost converters. One provides 300mA for t...

❤❤❤ ilove this solo since i heard this, Thank you Tameboar. More power!!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you very so much for saying that!
Great minimalist setup! What's your power setup for the HX Stomp?
When I plug Tonex One with the HX Stomp, they were generating some digital noise, especially from the tap tempo blinker or something similar, and I realized the issue was caused by a tiny, cheap isolator. Since I needed thin and compact components for this mini pedalboard, I ended up using two separate power supply adapters. DC 9V 1.3A (max 12W), which was slim enough to fit at the bottom of the board. For battery-powered operation, I connect it to a large Xiaomi power bank using a 5V-9V voltage converter and an isolator. I forgot the model name, though.
Always sounds like an unfinished solo to me...ends too abruptly.
Right, I felt the same way. Prob it was just because of my sloppy fingers! :)
Man, what an amazing cover! congratulations. Could you make the PDF available?
Mate! Check the description for the download link! Have fun! 🎸
엄청 재밌다는 표정으로 ㅎㅎ
Very cool. I’d love to see more of the board itself. It looks like you’ve heavily modified it with the foot switch and patch bays for power and i/o.
Love this solo, nice work😊
That was practically flawless!!!!
Nice solo🤟🤟🤟🤟

Good !!
Niceee ..would a jetmicro fit in there? and maybe a 1spot cs6 underneath?
there's no extra room for jet but you might be able to fit cs6 with taller rubber feet? I tried a power supply isolation to eliminate the noise from the digital delay but ended up using separate AC adapters underneath.
@@tameboar what pedalboard is that? Palmer pedalbay 60L? When i search it the 60L is big.
@@darwynth Nice catch! It was a big Pedalbay 60L, but I did some hacksaw work to customize it this time :D
@@tameboar wtf hahha awesome.
That's a nice video my friend! I've just use bought my tonex one to use with my stomp too! One question, are you using the tonex on the stomps fx loop? If so, have you noticed any drop on volume or on the "feel" compared with playing just with the tonex alone? Greetings from Brazil
Hey mate, thanks for your comment! Yeah, I noticed on the "feel" that the HX STOMP’s FX loop didn’t seem to return the Tonex One signal at 0dB, so I ended up boosting the Tonex One output level. It also dropped way more when I used the HX STOMP’s built-in USB interface. I wasn’t entirely sure if it was due to my sloppy setup. - Salute from Japan.
Its NUX MG-30?;)
I think I used NeuralDSP plugins for this :)
Hi, I miss the comparison of nux simulations with tonex simulations in this video
Sorry about the missing comparison. I got the Tonex pedal because of the Tonex Max software, so I wasn’t really trying to compare its amp simulation with the Nux. Unfortunately, I don’t have the Nux and Tonex pedals anymore. I’ve been busy with my day job and ended up selling some of the pedals that were just sitting around. But I do have a couple of videos that show off the built-in tones of both the Nux and Tonex-I liked both a lot.
The best of both world! Thank you for giving us the best preview of digital simplicity !
Congrats on purchasing the Tonex One. Question: do you find any difference in terms of sound quality between this and the big box? I commented in your previous video and I’m still trying to save up for this😊
Hey, Many TH-camrs say the Tonex One sounds exactly like its bigger brother. I haven’t done an A/B comparison myself, and HX Stomp sounds different from the MG30, so it’s hard to say. However, I can tell you that nothing beats the Tonex One when portability is a top priority. Not that intuitive control for multiple presets, though.
@@tameboar Thank you. One last question. Do you use the Tonex with the MG30 & HX Stomp mainly for the sound quality? Because the very reason I want the Tonex is for better clean amp sound and the "real-ness" Apologies for too many questions.
@@felixkim567 I use these devices because they’re compact. They probably offer clean, clear, and top-notch sound quality, but I’m not sure if my playing or listening skills are good enough to really notice the difference :D
@@tameboar Thank you :)

@@fender9004 The same. I guess this minimal go-to setup would work well for small-sized gigs but probably not ideal for big stages or recordings. Anyway I don't need to carry an amp head in my backpack.

Can i connect my g3xn to tonex?
I just did a quick search about G3XM. It seems Zoom G3XM doesn't support the FX loop with Send/Return jacks but I guess you can connect your guitar to Tonex input and Tonex output to G3XM input in serial way. So, turn off the amps and cabinet/IRs on G3XM and use amps & cabinets on Tonex (make sure no reverb on Tonex) and other time effects on G3XM (make sure no amps/cabinets on G3XM). One drawback is, you will not be able to use G3XM's built in compressor pedal / wah / volume pedal when you want to have them before amps.
If you say so so i can still use it ? Because you said my 1st input is the tonex or i misunderstood?
Actually i really want to sell my g3xn for mg30 until i saw tonex. Can i load ir like in the tonex in the mg30?
@@wilsonrositaortiz5037 I just noticed that there are built-in compressor & noise-gate on Tonex Pedal as well. I guess you're gonna be fine with them :D
@@wilsonrositaortiz5037 I haven't tried yet but the manual says you can import a custom IR into tonex pedal by using tonex librarian software. I didn't think that much when I bought mg30. I just needed an easy going compact multi-fx pedal with a couple of amp models and effects, and affordable. I have no idea about G3XN but If I compare the specs, g3xn supports 44.1khz of sampling frequency while mg30 does 48khz. Tonex also supports 44.1 (no 48) so not that big a deal for the live performances. But if you want to use it connected to your computer for DAW or something then you probably think about your sample rate preference? And I see mg30 has a bit better AD converter and wider dynamic range, but I am not sure that is enough reason to gear trading. If you are still loving your zoom :)
Hi i setup my tonex and mg30 exactly like how you did, but when i change banks on the tonex, nothing happens. am i doing something wrong here?
if all setup properly, I guess the culprit is S/R on your mg30. S/R should be on in your mg30 signal chain diagram.
@@tameboarthat is exactly my problem how do I on It please help
@@satschel9273 Hey mate, I’m not using the Nux MG30 anymore, but you can find plenty of TH-cam videos by searching ‘Nux MG30 Send Return Setup.’ If you don’t see the S/R symbol in the MG30 signal chain diagram, it’s possible the MG30 is still running its own amp sims, even if you’ve connected your Tonex pedal properly to the send/return. I wish a good luck with that!
cool !!
That was really well done. DL would be proud.
this is brilliant well done

とんでもないです。コメント有難う御座います!
Hello. I own a Nux MG-30. Is the Tonex actually better? Specifically, does it surpass the Nux in terms of amplifier sound quality?
it might be depending on your playing style but I'd say, not as a very professional sound guy, Tonex would give you a better, more nuanced and detailed sound texture, a better dynamic response. Just like the difference in playability and sound quality between a $300 guitar and a $2,000 one? If this makes sense? Cheers~ :D
@@tameboar thank you. IK Multimedia should pay because I’m ordering Tonex right now ☝️😅

just checked that guitar duo's instrumental vid you mentioned but I it didn't sound that suitable for me to transcribe and play. Probably need a pro cover guitarist :/
Gear?
The guitar was 'Playtech' stratocaster. I think it was being sold at $80 for new but I bought as a second-hand at $40 and modified with budget humbucker pickups. And plugged it into my macbook through Apogee Jam+ as an audio interface, and recorded on Studio One DAW using Ampire plugin. 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
@@tameboar Wow, a 40 buck guitar!! It really sounds great! Ok, thanks! Keep on Rocking!!
Been trying to figure out tone x vs mg30, what did you buy first?
Mg30 was released a year earlier so I happened to have Mg30 already before Tonex but I would say you may go Tonex pedal first. :)
What's your experience of using Tonex with MG 30 so far? And is it worth using Tonex? I am seriously considering to get one and use it with my MG 30 next year.
Thanks for your words here. It might be rather kinda subjective but this quality combination of 2 devices works perfectly for my use and really bang for the buck in terms of its portability, functionality and sound quality. I only use Amp+Cab on Tonex's end without any gate or reverb, and Gate/Comp/SR/Pedal-controlled-Vol/Harmonizer 3rd+5th/Pan Delay/Plate or Hall Reverb on MG30. So here is the the basic idea I got at the beginning. Set the delay time for the song tempo by using TAP-CTRL foot-switch and I can turn it on or off with the external foot-switch if necessary, and switch between High-gain and Crunch or Clean on Tonex Pedal. Three patches per bank. I love MG30's onboard exp-pedal so I'm not really up for that MIDI-controllable signal flow or something with LINE6 HX Stomp whatnot but it seems it could be another option available for some live performers. Cheers! Good luck~ 🎸
@@tameboar Thanks! It helped a lot :)

The patches on both devices are even simpler than default factory presets. I added them as a download link in the description. Good luck.
