John Sabar Piano
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 17 พ.ค. 2020
I have my wonderful, hard-working, musical mother to thank for my love of classical music. She was my first teacher and spent countless hours not only teaching me how to play the piano, but how to practise and appreciate music. I went on to study at the University of York with Jakob Fichert, and then at the Royal Northern College of Music with John Gough. My particular areas of interest are Christian themes in classical music, and Romantic Period piano music. While this channel is primarily focused on my solo performances, I also accompany other instrumentalists and teach the piano from beginner to advanced. Please subscribe if you want to stay up to date with my performances. If you want to get in contact for any reason then do send me an email using the email address in the 'About' section of this channel!
The Dance of Salome
Castelnuovo-Tedesco wrote a total of 28 short pieces outlining the life of Jesus. Below is the bible passage that this piece is based on:
Matthew 14:3-12
Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, for John had been saying to him: “It is not lawful for you to have her.” Herod wanted to kill John, but he was afraid of the people, because they considered John a prophet.
On Herod’s birthday the daughter of Herodias danced for the guests and pleased Herod so much that he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked. Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.” The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he ordered that her request be granted and had John beheaded in the prison. His head was brought in on a platter and given to the girl, who carried it to her mother. John’s disciples came and took his body and buried it. Then they went and told Jesus.

Castelnuovo-Tedesco wrote 28 of these little pieces about different parts of the life of Jesus. Below is the bible passage that this is based on: Mark 1:16-20 As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets...

Castelnuovo-Tedesco wrote a total of 28 short pieces outlining the life of Jesus. Below is the bible passage that this piece is based on: Mark 6:45-51 Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray. Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he w...

Castelnuovo-Tedesco based 28 little pieces on different stories surrounding the life of Jesus from the Bible. This one is one of my personal favourites of the the set. Below is the passage that this piece is based on: John 12:1-9 Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honour. Martha served,...
Haydn Sonata in F major, Hob. XVI:23
มุมมอง 32หลายเดือนก่อน
For years I've looked down on music from the Classical period, considering it less expressive than the Romantic period, and less interesting than the Baroque period. However, this piece has very much challenged this view! In this sonata Haydn is simultaneously hilariously humorous, and deeply emotional. It's been a bit of a journey for me understanding this piece, but I think I'm starting to!

It was real rush getting this piece ready in time as I greatly underestimated how difficult the piano part was! But we got these in the end and I started to enjoy the harmonic complexity and colour in this piece.

These beautiful little movements were performed by myself, Jonny Hayward, and @RebekahWoodierCello in our concert last year. We were exploring the problem human beings have with the idea of perfection. So many of us set goals for ourselves that we can't seem to meet. We shared how Jesus gives hope to all who believe in Him by giving them His perfection. Check out the full concert recording to h...

Another piece that @RebekahWoodierCello and I performed in our concert titled The Problem of Perfection. In this concert we explored the issue of our desire for perfection combined with an inability to reach perfection. We shared Jesus provides hope by giving his perfection to anyone who believes in him. Check out the channel for the full concert!

@RebekahWoodierCello and I recorded this piece in a concert we did exploring the problems with perfection and how Jesus offers us his perfection when we believe in him. It's a stunning and heart-wrenching piece of music that suited well the feeling of frustration at the imperfection in this world.
The Problem of Perfection

This was a concert that I put on with @RebekahWoodierCello and Jonny Hayward. We all feel very strongly that people need to hear about the good news of Jesus. In this concert we explore issues with the idea of perfection, a truly unachievable goal. While we alone can't reach this goal, Jesus reaches it and offers to give his perfection to everyone who believes in him. A few of the spoken bits a...

I first learned this at the age of 16 and to this day my first performance of this is one of my most cherished performance memories. However, when I rewatched the recording that performance I realised that it wasn't nearly as good as I thought it was. In this concert at Bury Parish Church I wanted to relive that memory and also do the piece a bit more justice than I did before. This performance...

This is fantastic…
Thanks Gerard!
very cool! 😀
Love this
Wow so nice!
Truly, marvelous. A beautiful rendition of the piece and a whole body performance which elevates the preexisting text.
Beautiful execution and interpretation as far as I can tell. I love how you bring these notes to life! I love this piece and hope I can play through it someday but have small hands and so I play it just for myself. Can you share a little about yourself in your 'about' section? Schooling, why you play, favorite composers, artists and why?
Magnifique, great performance, the best i have seen. 😍 I am currently learning this piece, i whished you could be my teacher, but a little bit far away. 😊
Thank you very much!
You play with such confidence and style, capturing the essence of the music. I enjoyed listening.
Wow! Amazing John
This is great! :)
Amazing Johnny! so cool
very good!
The zoom in on the fingers is great. Looking forward to the rest of this series!
nice one Johnny!
Would love a behind the scenes of how your practices go and what you're thinking throughout your practice. I thought the piece sounded beautiful! Was sad to see your disdain for your work :((
Nice suggestion I'll see what I can do!
I enjoyed it, though judging by your face, not as much as you enjoyed playing it!
That's actually pretty cool, keep it up
nice one Johnny!
Yassssss!
amazing!
Bravo
