Scientists by day, science communicators … also by day!
SciAnts is a husband and wife team who stream on Twitch hoping to bring understandable, digestible science to the masses. Regardless of your education level, gender, ethnicity, or socio-economic background, SciAnts strives to make information accessible!
Balint and Lita both have Ph.Ds from Dartmouth in Molecular and Systems Biology. Their research primarily focuses on neural regeneration, epigenetics, memory formation and maintenance, ecology, evolution, social learning, and communication. Together they have more than 30 years of research experience and have been published nearly 40 times in peer-reviewed academic journals. Also stickers. Lots of stickers. Come see what we are all about!

Baby Shark Doo-Doo-Doo-Doo | FINALLY Observed In The Wild!
#greatwhite #twitch #learning
Scientists are weird! After years of relying solely on expired females to observe pre-born Great White juveniles, researchers have finally observed what they think is the first live new-born Great White Shark baby in the wild. There are a couple clues as to why it might be new-born rather than just very young, including residual uterine milk and the general size and location that this shark was found in. This is a monumental discovery as the hosts point out, due to the fact that this opens the door to investigate the location of birthing grounds that might render more juvenile sharks that researchers could further study in a reliable manner.

Counting Crows Actually Do Count!
มุมมอง 319 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
#crows #vocalization #neuroscience Humans can count, and so can crows! While this may seem hard to distinguish between simple counting, and a symbolic counting vocalization representation. We know that bees have a concept of zero, and other animals can discriminate between objects and sounds. Join Ph D Balint K as he digs into exactly how the researches were able to determine that crows could, ...

Has the Genetic MYSTERY of Left-Handed Been Cracked??
I probably shouldn't have chewed up the tops of my pens as a child, oops ! extra plastics ! but it totally makes sense that there are negative effects from plastics as they don't break down. Also the stomach is probably effected from these too and maybe this is why people have more digestive issues now days.
you are a great dad ! maybe you took lessons from the fishies lol !
because water is heavy
diving bell spiders like a bubble too :)
he looks just like richard branson !
clean your microwaves !
Bro you have the perfect voice for radio!!!! You should definitely start a podcast!!!
@@kevina4764 we have a live stream on Twitch daily over at Twitch.tv/sciants_streams! Honestly it’s more just a good mic and my voice is silly lol
Those adult mayflies aren't buggin' for long!
What is incredible to me is that they have mouths as larvae, but none as an adult. so during metamorphosis they lose their mouths. What?!
wiggle wiggle !
WIGGLE WIGGLE!!!!! :)
That was a nasty tease. I was stoked to hear some Counting Crowd academia
me too! hopefully one day
👍
TGIFF - Thank God It's Ferret Friday!
I'd love more ferret Friday!
I think they get cooked
Microwaves don’t produce heat instead they shake water molecules causing friction which heats your food
some bacteria do, but others are resilient against the waves
Looks like I'm going to Chicago! I've heard they have good pizza too!
Can we meet up maybe??
Monchie says: "Be there or be square!"
absolutely!
Interesting
Thanks!
I wonder why bees would need to know the smell of cancer. I wonder if something else in nature smells similar.
That's always the question I have too! what was the evolutionary pressure to be able to detect it?
not surprising to me, Crows are very clever
so smart!
Mr. Jones and me.... Think this is really cool 🐦⬛
who is Mr. jones? :)
I've always a little scared of lightning. Now I true reason why!!
the ferret agrees!
This hot fact was quite shocking!!!
I didn't realize either!
30,000°C!? That's a warm one!
toasty even to make a nice s'more!
"That's no moon" - Spock, Stargate
its a....space sphere!
Encased in sugar, indeed. *brows*
not enough brows for that one!
Belemnites for days, no digging needed
not every time we go, but sometimes! :)
I've always been more of a Nimbostratus type of guy ☁️
I totally feel that. I love cumulus because it sounds like coolio-nimbus
Amber is like a window into the past, so cool !
right? That is why I love looking at it on stream :)
I didn't know so many stones glow under UV light, this planet is something, more people need to learn about this planet
thank you so much! it is truly remarkable how a regular rock can look so different under UV!
Dang, that's so cool! One more Tardi to love!
I agree queen jaded! Thank you so much!
Oh yeah! It's Bear Time! 🐻
now hes a bear in a blood red pacaderm spring time roar
its safe at high enough levels to making something clear? seems highly suspicious that someone would have already tested this scenario
so far it seems that is it! everything can be a toxin at high enough levels, so you are correct, concentrations and doses will, need to be tested
Lasers and ancient tardigrades. *What could go wrong!!* .
well.....probably nothing but you never know! ;)
@@sciantsmedia : Godzilla...eat your heart out! 😆
I'd like to talk about both! 🪰
thank you Tommy!
Burp in space!? I need to get there first! 🚀 🌌
in space!? what about toots tho?
Kevin is a fun guy..... I'll show myself out...

absolutely!
I love ferret !! best science ferret ever !
Thank you sparky!
Wait, sir?!?!?! When did this haircutting take place???
months ago, haha!
My man keep grinding
thank u!
Human self aware ness is linked to modelling social dominance games. Thats why our self awareness is so preoccupied with being less then/better then. Human self-awareness evolved to model what would happen if you, as a young chimp, would just walk in front of alpha chimp a little too casually and cooly, while young chimp girl was looking on. A chimp had to model that in his mind before actually doing it irl and getting beaten up by alpha ape and forever losing mating chances with chimp girl. A matter of passing on genes or not. Ant cognition, otoh, is linked to performing tasks together. An ant has to model herself like: If I hold up this end of a stick, how fo i need to adapt when my sisters start turning the stick to go into the anthill entrance sideways? Bot humans and (seeing) ants pass the mirror dot test, but have a different kind of delf awareness.
thats great news and its not as expensive to make either.
right? accessibility to these would be critical!
This was so cool!
thank you! :)
We love dirt friends!
Beans and Ferrets and Friday! Can this day get any better? 🫘
maybe a delicious pizza? :D
I had thought that the asteroid came from the asteroid belt.
me too! it was a cool study to hear this new theory
